Alright I have a 93 S-10 with the TBI 4.3 Im planning on putting a stage 1 mild cam with roller lifters I got it dynoed at 174 HP just cause I advanced the timing and Im running a 40 series flow with no CAT, what cam would you suggest I get that I wouldnt have to get a stall converter. Also while I have the engine torn down Im putting an Eagle rotating assembly and eventually getting a T3T4 turbo for it, but before the turbo it got an estimate on HP after the rotating assembly anyone?
I have a ton of stuff done to mine and I don't think I am anywhere near the 400 mark.. just sayin.. I left a video response.. nice truck tho.. I bet it is hard to get power in cali with all the regulation..

nice work, but I would hate to inform you that you have maybe 300 hp... unless you have a bowtie block and super trick 18 degree bowtie heads... and about $10k+ in your engine

When you get the ECM programmed, put it on a dyno. You'll notice after 4500-4800 rpm the power band drops. To fix that you should get a true dual timing chain, the updated fuel injectors, and high compression springs. After that you'll notice a huge increase in power on all ends.
its drops off because of the cam. the stock grind is crap. a double roller timing chain (true dual timing chain) can not fit on a balance shaft motor. balance shaft motors started in 93 and are still put in silverados today. the updated fuel injectors just get rid of the poppet injectors and IMO are not worth the money. what exactly is a "high compression spring"?
It's not just the cam. It's a collection of things, and you can fit a true dual timing chain on a balance shaft motor, the truck in the video here has one :P The updated fuel injectors don't clog nearly as easily as the poppet injectors and in my experience, is definately worth it. Also i'm talking about the compression springs in the heads. Even with all of the stuff we have done do the truck in the video here, the power band still drops off after 4800RPM, with a bigger cam :P
do you have pictures of the double roller timing chain? did you use the stock timing cover? what are the specs on your cam other then .500 lift? you need duration in these motors. by compression springs you mean valve springs? im not trying to be a dick, just looking for more info.
the 4.3's are capable of tons of hp, i've seen them with over 1200 hp, just look it up, its just a 350 with 2 cylinders knocked off, same bore 4in, 348 stroke, they're great engines
Isn't hard..they come stock with 192hp i believe..Shoot with just a full exhaust system, a mediocre ignition upgrade and some work with the computer system and you can easily pull out much more. I laugh when people say these trucks are junk and underestimate them.

A lot of things have been done to the truck. A short list of the engine:
Block: Blueprinted and line-honed, Bored .030" over, splayed caps from a 383 stroker, forged crank, .030" over pop-up pistons
Heads: Bored out combustion chambers, ported and polished, arp studs, magnesium roller rockers off the 383, valves from the 383, rods from the 383, lifters off the 383
Cam: (forgot) i know the lift is .500/.501
Ignition: msd wires, msd box and coil, delco plugs
Sorry for the late response, i'm rarely on these days. Also it's getting 10.5:1 compression, no dyno yet, and it did the quarter mile in 14.6 seconds spinning the tires in first, second, and stepping out in third
