  • i see the belt is not in line very well with the power-steering pulley(a bent or miss installed alternator and bracket is the trouble), the belt is fraying on one side(if you stop your video when the belt is inline the problem is obvious), get a new belt, the noiuse you hear is a vacume leak(probably in the intake hose from the air cleaner, or a bad vacume line)-- sounds like air being sucked past a small crack in a flexible hose-- best wishes--

  • My 2002 Impala 3.4 with 285,000 miles had that same problem. Turned out to be a clogged catalytic converter and a blown exhaust manifold gasket from the excess pressure.

  • @fedorauser1003 I'm almost 100% positive that was the problem, I sold the car after wasting money trying other repairs. I should have fixed it myself.

  • @P8121

New cat and exhaust gaskets... now hopefully I'll turn over 300,000 or more without any further issues. By far the best car I have ever owned.

  • also has a bad taping noise or two

  • its def. an exhaust leak

  • One of the components like the alternator, A/C compressor or power steering could be wanting to seize if the belt isn't the problem.

  • my 01 impala did the same thing but i had the 3.8 and it was the AC Compressor

and i had front and rear exhaust manifold gaskets replace and it still done it and then i went to the Dealership n they told me it was the AC Compressor. got that replace and it stopped.

  • Yeah thats the thing with GM's 3.4s they have a lot of problems, unlike the 3.1 or the 3.8. Those are much more reliable and better built

  • i had an 03 that had intake gaskets go bad, it burned dex cool antifreeze, the tranny slipped, drank toooo much gas, and had a cracked intake manifold causinfg it to leak 4 quarts of oil a month.. these cars are known for this! ill never buy gm again, and i never abused it either.

  • @MrRichierich1990 how did a cracked intake manifold make it leak oil you make no sense

  • @mikec81 idk but the top of the engine was a aluminum manifold whick was the problem due to a crack. these cars are some of the worst shit ive ever seen gm do.

  • @billsman1975 a 1977 volks van with shag carpet and your mom spread out naked keeping it warm for me fag boy XD

  • loose belt

  • damm this car suck so much to much problems now we are unmounted thins to put new gasket and the engine is pain i nthe ass to work with...

cuz the car is kinda taking the oil and water at the same time and has this weird thing that looks like chocolate white

  • its a bottom end bearing same thing happend to my 05 impala

  • first the exhaust leak and then replace the oil pump drive , located right by the thermostat

it has 1 bolt holding it down ,, i have dealt with this before

  • the problem is you bought a GM....move to something that doesn't suck man...which i see you have already.

  • hey buddy i had the same problem its a rod

  • Well I had repalced the lower intake gasket & the nosie was still there. I had a mechanic look at it and he thought maybe an spun camshaft bearing...

I sold the car with the problem & as the guy was looking at it I located a bad front manifold gasket, I suspect the cat. converter was partly plugged and blew the metal gasket on the front manifold.

I should have repaired it myself, but I was stick of putting money into it & sold it at a loss.. oh well..

  • There's your problem. It's only a 3.4L! just kidding I love these cars!!! Sound like there may be a small leak in the exhaust which is making the screaming noise. IDK weird

  • that wasn't it, I replaced the intake gasket & the noise is still there... I'm thinking now it might be the front exhaust manifold gasket

  • sounds like your not gettin a positive charge..

  • My hubby said it intake leak. It's leaking air. It's not coming in where it is suppose to. He's not sure if that is what it is but that is what it sounds like. Where the intake manifold meets the block. Hope that helps some. Wish you well.

  • I've had quite a few people tell me that, I've got the upper intake off it now, I'll post an update if/when I find the problem.

  • wow that's crazy you said 9 months ago you would post a update when you found something out but you never did !!!! so you lied and to think i waited all this time to see what happened i still don't know , we tried to help you out of the kindness of out harts and this is what we get ????? don't ask for help anymore lol j/k ohh welllll
