In this scene he is being injected with something, which could have been morphine. I assumed it meant heroin because of the song reference, and during the war soldiers became addicted to drugs like heroin or opium, which morphine is basically the same thing. Later when his sister is talking to their mother she mentioned how messed up he has been because of the war. I could be wrong, but if he was on either of those drugs giving him morphine would be like giving him heroin.

Throwing my two cents in: My interpretation of the song is waaay different than anything you guys said, so I'm most likely wrong.

Whenever people talk about when they got shot, or they were held at gunpoint, or they were war, the gun that's getting pointed at them when they're scared shitless is always COLD.

So if the gun was WARM wouldn't they be happy about dying? Or not worried about whats going to happen to them?

Actually John stated that it wasn't about drugs at all, he denied it had anything to do with them. He said it was to do with a magazine cover and then later admitted in the 80's that he had just started his relationship with Yoko and that also influenced it. With the double meaning of guns, sexuality being one of them.

I think you misunderstand the meaning of warm gun. The "gun" is a syringe full of heroine. The scream he lets out is when the drugs are "kicking in". He needs a fix because he is coming down. He "can do no harm" means he is feeling no pain.

Just wanted to get this out.

If the movie would have cut out/replace the 'I Am The Walrus' and the 'Benefit Of Mr. Kite' scenes,

which were kind of forced and nonsensical, this movie would have been practically flawless. I understand it was going through the times and whatnot but it drew me away a bit.

But seriously what a great movie and soundtrack. :D

I think they did well considering those songs are very Acid-y. But, yes, it could do without.
