  • MY CAR

  • lol

  • this is just a close-up of the the original "Peekskill, NY" meteor video shot from a HS football stadium. It indeed went thru a roof and struck a car.

  • this is real happend, i saw it on national geographic at earth investigated.

the meteorite hitted a car when it came on the ground it was only 13 pounds left but did that damage btw it was in new york like you saw on the film

  • I wonder if insurance paid the claim... or did they just state we don't cover meteor coverage and leave the guy with a busted car?

  • and if it was a comet it will melt in bevore it hit the earth:P

  • blah blah blah EVERYTHING has to happen to new york

  • buhahah -.-'

  • What you saw was more than likely a satillite or a rocket booster re-entering the earths atmoshere. You can see pieces of the object breaking apart as it is burning up. A metor doesn't break up like that when it re-enters the atmosphere because rock is molten and sticks together where steel and plastic tends to break off in chunks.

  • @jomorris1022 not true

  • hahaha ....

  • that meteorite is worth more than that car

  • fake like my girlfriend's last orgasm :))

  • I have a question: A couple years or so ago, a meteor streaked through the sky over Atlanta, Georgia. It was an eerie green and lit up the sky, but there was literally no sound. It was dead silent. Does anybody have any idea why it was green and why there was no sound? I thought it was creepily awesome. It kinda looked like this one, only the one I saw didn't break up while it was in my view.

  • @3Authoress most likely the meteorite had copper in it!!! It didn't make a sound because you are too far away to hear it, if you could hear it, it still wouldn't be very loud, if you could hear your freezer falling from the sky, that's probably what it would sound like

  • You can find information about this event searching for "Peekskill Meteorite Car". BTW, what was left from the meteor after shedding quite a bit of weight burning in the atmosphere, was not as small as some suggested.

  • The dislikes suggest people think this is fake, but I clearly remember when it happened. A guy at a sporting event took the video. With that information, the path of the meteor (this was not a comet, of course) was estimated and matched to the collision with the car in NYC.

  • Pepito me mama el pito

  • and hope the car is ok

  • R.I.P. car may u rest in pieces

  • I wonder if the insurance covers meteor damage.

  • MEGATRON IS BACK!

  • chuck norris came late from work

  • that was not a coment it is leftovers from nasa space launchs and satiletes missions which have found its orbit with the earth i know this because nasa polloution cycles are planet and some times they can fall down to the earth that is why it is that colour....look it up(:

  • god. that was anything but a commit. the only way a commit could do that much damage is if we were in loony toons or some silly crap like that.

  • is fake!!

  • That wasnt a comet...that was my flaming cat I shot out of a catapult...

  • wait, how can u video tape a comet if it travels extremely fast?

  • fake

  • here is the correct terminology: an Asteroid is made of stone, a Comet out of ice (in simple terms), and they are both out in space. Asteroids are more likely to hit the earth. when one of them enters earth atmosphere its called a Meteor - which we call a shooting star. the material object which remains and hits the earth (a tiny fraction of all Meteors) is the Meteorite. Three steps: in space, in atmosphere, and down here.

  • @LLit11 dude, comets aren't entirely made of ice... there is rock too.. but it is the ice and the dust that gives the comet it's remarkable tail, that sometimes splits in two...

  • State Farm has meteor coverage .

  • God damnit... the Martians responsible better pay for this (btw, it's a meteorite; a comet is freakin huge!)

  • I'd hate to be the guy who owned that car. I'm pretty sure his insurance wouldn't cover interstellar debris damage.

  • It's a shooting star! make a wish!

  • yea, geico will believe that!!

  • I saw this go over my area as a kid, I'll never forget it....craziest thing I've ever seen

  • good video, Don't let those rocks fall

    on the earth.

  • Ha... fail :P

  • i remember seeing the news report a long time ago on this. it was a little smaller then a soda can when it hit the car.

  • title sucks, but amazing shot ! bravo to cameraman

  • My insurance policy won't pay for that!

  • its a meteor. comets cant make contact with the earth because as soon as it enters the atmosphere its classified as a meteorite

  • @Lanterncorp599 A comet can definitely hit the earth. Meteorites are classified from meteors when they hit the earths surface. Meteors are from meteoroids when they are out in space. Different names for the same thing. Comets however are composed of different materials than meteoroids, hence they get a different name.

  • @Lanterncorp599 Although, of course this video isn't of a comet lol.

  • I KNEW I shouldnt've parked my car there.. FUCK

  • ¬¬ this is fireworks

  • decent production bad vid clearly fake it was a bottlerocket and comets wouldn't go that far and still be visible lol an they'd do alot mor damge that tht

  • fake!

  • Dude... that's not your car...

  • i litteraly fell asleep watching this D:

  • You probably mean meteorite XD

  • it wuld do more damage than to just hit a car the whole world will explode

  • Try making a claim on that to fix your car.

  • That thing was on a mission

  • i didnt know that space shuttle discovery was also a comet.

    R.I.P. the 7 astronauts

  • @HopefulSwine is this really that shuttle?

  • over 10 million lb. of space debris(comets, meteors, ect.)hit earth every day and each piece is about the size of a dust particle, remember that, you must have gone pretty fast to get that whole thing on tape knowing how far that went***remember what i said earlier?well, that must have been some REALLY strong dust ;my guess:its fake and most likely some kind of firework

  • Comment removed

  • is that was comet that wouls do a lil more damage i think

  • Now why would you put a tilte like "Comet Hits Car" and show the car for a split second?

  • Ding a lings, this was a meteorite, not a "Comet".

  • dude, that's a firecracker

  • Just more bullshit.

  • that was not a Comet you idiot, get more info before you add the titles to shity videos like this one

  • This is not a comet, its a rock meteor.

When its burn green its rich in copper or nickel

If it was an ice meteor you would not see it.

about 8 ice meteors the size of houses hit the atmosfere

every day, dissolving before they hit the ground

    And only seen by radar.

  • what scares me is that people rate comments like the ones shown on this post as good... if that reflects general intelligence, i think its time we made it illegal for the stupid ones to breed :) nature does it...

  • the only way a comet could kill us is if it was big enough, and that want nearly large enough to do much of anything to us. comets are also largly ice and thus alot of it's mass would evaporate on entry to our atmosphere. the change in temp will fracture the commet like an ice cube in water, breaking it up and furthur protecting us.

  • ITS OPTIMUS PRIME XD

  • if that was a comet, we probably wudnt be havin this dscussion rght now

  • Wow, if i was the owner of that car, I don't know what I would do. I would probably be to scared to touch the comet, because it would be steaming hot for hours, and i dont know what kind of wierd shit is on it. But i tell you what, the would be some expensive shit. Nasa would pay big bucks

  • fucking retarded, seriously never upload again

  • There is a difference between a comet and a meteor, sir.

  • @Allucouldwant And a meteor and a meteorite, sir.

  • fake

  • I wonder if the insurance company will believe you when you tell them a meteor hit ur car....

  • A comet would total the car and the Earth!

  • Wasn't a comet... a small meteor would do about that kind of damage. but were taling like... half-dollar sized at most

  • @musicmike825 if it was half dollar sized it would have to weigh at least 50lbs to inflict that much damage on the car, as the earth's atmosphere slows down the meteor to rate of a falling object. Newton's law.

  • @boatboi007 u dnt get it first of all if u take a paper clip sized (1 gram) piece of uranium and split it the energy produced is enough to take out manhattan, and paint chips in space orbitting eart can take out the international space station, (OH AND BTW A 1KM ASTEROID COLLIDING WITH EARTH CAN TAKE OUT ALL OF MAN KIND)

  • @kodeeman I get it, meteorite was not made of uranium, it would have blown up in the atmosphere, and this is not a spacestation, this is earth with a an atmosphere. i will let a 1 gram paper clip falling at terminal velocity to fall on my head to prove my point. you need to watch more NOVA =)

  • @boatboi007 A softball traveling at terminal velocity would pwn the trunk of a car, try it out...

  • @Fackifiknow a softball, lol no. the terminal velocity of a baseball is around 90mph. Would you attempt to catch a baseball if you knew it could dent a car like that? It would make a hell of a baseball game.

  • @Fackifiknow ok i figured out the situation here. THIS VIDEO IS NOT FAKE! the meteorite was bigger then a football, maybe 1.5x bigger and was made out of iron. Yes this would put a dent in a car. anything that weighed as little as a softball would dent a car but not make that much of an impact. and personally i dont see Nolan Ryan throwing a baseball at 90mph into a car and getting half that damage... sorry fakifiknow. i like your name though.

  • agree with

    @sweiland75

    @matroosjes

  • was a meteor not a comet :)

  • @TylerMonaco made a comment on comet.

  • That almost looks like a clip of the Space shuttle colombia breakin up.

  • It was a beautiful meteor!!!!!

  • Thanks for the vid on the meteor but the photo of the car is just horseshit!

  • That photo was actually a car that got hit by a meteor in CANADA in 2007. Real story, just the wrong place.

  • @sweiland75: Not if it is a very small one. In facts, comets and meteorites hit the earth every day.

  • Comment removed

  • not a comet, and when it enters the atmosphere it begins to disentegrate due to intense heat energy and slows down to a rate of 9.81m/s squared which is furthermore slowed down by air resistance. :)

  • it's a meteorite not a comet

  • It's a meteor.

A meteorite is a meteor that has landed on the ground.

So a meteorite couldn't have hit a car, because its just a rock on the ground. A projectile is a meteorite.

    These are probably meteoroids.

    Source: Space and Science Museum

  • Correction:

    A projectile is a meteor.

    You get the idea...

  • Commet = Ice

    Metor = Rock/ Metal

  • My gosh..such anomosity over a meteor video.Even science has its violent objectors.sheesh.

  • Idiot, that is a meteor.

  • sorry to say, that was not a comet. It was a meteor.

  • you drive drunken into an garbadge bucket *gg

  • im pretty sure that comet will leave a bigger mark than that, hahaha

  • jeez, people could actually argue on this video. Come on, sit back and just relax, watch those beautiful space stuff

  • Haha. That's funny. I thought this happened in Germany?

  • I have seen a same phenomenon. It had green light like this, but it broke into some pieces and turened red light. It was lower than cloud. Because I could see the reflection of the light on the cloud.

  • lies!!

  • The car would have been a lot more damaged then that. lol

  • Comet? If that was a comet, we would be all screwed over.

  • @shigshwa okay.

  • @shigshwa : So you think that comets always destroy the world if they hit something on our planet? OMG!!! Laughing about you! You dont want to know, how many TONS every day of space trash hits our planet. And not every comet, that would hit the ground, produces massive destruction or craters! Learn, Learn and again Learn!!!!

  • @y0r00t Comets are much, much larger objects than meteors and he didn't even say it would destroy the World so why are you accusing him of saying that?...

3,000 Meteors hit the Earth each day... and they're like the average size of a tennis of football s it does no damage whatsoever...

And if a Meteor the diameter of say roughly between 1 - 3 miles hit the Earth... A Mere 1 Billion of the populations of Humans would get killed instantley.... just to say...

  • @shigshwa no, if it was a 600 mile wide meteor we would be all screwed

  • @cOdLoVeR321 Meteor, comet, asteroid, doesn't matter as long as it's 600 mile wide.

  • I thought it was funny, you ranting about uneducated people posting. Irony makes me laugh. Heheheh

  • uneducated people posting the same videos with different names over and over again. same old story. go back to school killdeer2. maybe there you will learn some things.but i'll save you the trouble. the HUGE ones are called Asteroids.if one hits us...simply no more Earth. the BIG ones are called Comets.a Comet is thought to be responsible for the extinction of the Dinosaurs. the small ones are called Meteoroids. like this one here.very rarely they manage to get trough the atmosphere.FLAGED

  • I think the difference between asteroids and comets are what they are made of. I know that asteroids stay in space, but once they fall to earth they are called meteors

  • did you have to argue on that? why? please tell me. and before you tell me just think about something. an Asteroid is much biger than Earth or at least the same size. does what you say make any sense?

  • so lets get this straight:

asteroid - huge, often planet sized objects

meteoroid - sand- to boulder-sized object

meteor - when a meteoroid enters earths atmosphere and is visible

meteroite - when whatever meteroid is left hits the ground

comet - a very different celestial object from the others since it also is made of frozen gases rather than just heavy metals.

    peas out.

  • well not exactly 100% but yes. it should be like that. meteoroids come from a comets debree tail.

  • You sound like a retarded asshole

  • wow!really? how can you hear me? i'm just typing words with my keyboard! before you attack someone make sure you say something smart.grow up monkey.till then have fun with your bananas

  • Thank you for proving my point punk bitch.

  • oh no thank YOU for proving MY point.dumbass monkey.go back up to your tree and shut up

  • What is it like to be mentally and socially retarded?

  • just look in you mirror and you'll find out kid.

  • The best thing you could come up with was the mirror? Come on man, I at least expected something entertaining. I'm done wasting my time talking to you. Have a good life.

  • if you want entertainment go to a circus video. or just get out of your hole. stupid troll

  • Yeah so that definitely wasn't a comet as they are usually KILOMETRES in diameter and would have hit an entire city, not just a car.

  • Definitely not a comet, BUT, this video is not one of those hoax videos...This meteorite actually hit my friend's car! We went to school together. It was also on the Discovery Channel, and it is known as the Peekskill Meteorite. (Peekskill, NY)

It went directly through the gas tank, and about 2 feet into the blacktop. :)

  • i heard that some lady's car was hit by a small meteorite and some museum wanted it and paid 50k for it

  • The smithsonian paid 68,000 for the car, enough for a new car. They showed people picking fragments of the meteorite off the car and ground. I love astronomy and have several tapes. One includes this story and great images of meteorite impacts.

  • A small meteor shower was in my neighborhood and did some strange and destructive stuff!

I was in the bathroom 'doing the deeds' when one broke the window.

SAME DAY! Another much bigger one hit the hood of my boat! GOD I WAS PISSED! Punctured a hole in it and went down to the pavement!

I called my insurance agency and they laughed until I mailed them the pictures!

  • 'doing the deeds' - hope it was not bad deeds! Otherwise one might even say that God was trying to say stuff to you by throwing rocks at your window!

  • Bullshit...where's the evidence?

  • technically, it's considered a meteorite once it hits the atmosphere

  • clearly it's FAKE!

  • Looks like a fireball I once saw... I think the only fake part is the claim of it hitting a car.

  • it's not fake. i saw it in the discovery channel. it was during a football game i think and it hit a car

  • coglione e il disintegramento dello space shuttle!!!

  • Dude, where's my car?

  • @comgeturs Its in the crater XD

  • :-) that is funny u cant see it, but funny

  • i wonder if his insurance pays for commit hits

  • yeah i wonder...lol

  • ohh yeah, i hear about this

  • Where is the ALLSPARK?..

  • So like ... where's the car?

  • it looks beautiful

  • I think it's a meteor

  • to: Carlsagan93

i think meteorites and comets are

    the same

  • no. when the asteroids cross the atmosphere of the Earth we call them meteorits and the comets are objects that come from the Oort's cloud, but rarely they cross the atmosphere and when they cross the atmosphere we call them meorits but in their origins the meorits are asteroids that come the asteroids' belt. Also the asteroids don't have ice and the comet have it. So they're not the same. They have a lot of differences. So don't confusse. In my documentary I'll talk about it.

  • Not trying to be a know it all, but i was always taught in school meteorites were usually small, and rocky, while comets were extremely larger, and composed of mostly ice, and comets usually have a predictable orbit around the solar system, while meteors (meterorites) are kind of way-ward

  • Not a know it all - you're totally right! All this mess - comet, falling star, meteorite (which this was) - has roots in early astronomy and the limited science we had then.

  • i didnt know new york was the car fucktard.why label the video comet hits car if theres not a fucking car you idiot.you made a sensless video and you should be shot in the street for it.

  • Shot in the steet, that's a bit harsh for what he did isn't it? Maybe he should just be stabbed in the face a little bit instead?

  • seems like fake is a never end story.

  • That's not a comet. :) It's a meteor.

  • Sorry but it's a meteorite.

  • When it hits the ground, it's a meteorite.

  • And it did (if it is true that it did hit the car).

  • Well if he's talking about it while it's still in mid-flight, it's alright to call it a meteor. We don't know what happened to it when it hit the ground. If the guy is holding the chunk of rock and saying, "Hey look at this" then yeah, that's a meteorite. But it could have fragmented into dust when it hit the ground.

  • I'm sorry but its called Extraterrestrial space debris.

  • I watched a documentary on this, it really did happen. Some scientists bought the lady a new car, and took that one :D

  • I wonder if thats covered in the insurance.

  • lol

    :P

  • With luck that bad, it must be bad...carma.

  • Remember a meteor, supposedly from Mars, also hit a dog in Egypt.

    Poor Doggy 8(

  • i've heard about that story

  • i saw a meteor about 14 years ago when i lived in Nova Scotia, it was that exact same greenish color as this one and traveled so fast across the sky i only got to see it for maybe 3 or 4 seconds. a couple days later i heard that a small meteor had crashed in New Brunswick and i knew it was the one i saw.

  • I'm surprised that the meteor didn't incinerate the car!

  • i think i saw a comet because i was going out to the bus and all the sudden the sky lit up with a bright purple and then went complete dark and there was a hum afterwords like electricity type of hum me and a friend say it he was on the other side of the lake i want to no want it really was tho ummmm....

  • that was a meteorite, and it did happen. The girl who's car it hit ended up selling the meteorite for around$60,000 and the car for another 15 or so?

  • I envy that girl, $60,000?! haha

  • How often does this kinda thing happen?

  • EVERY SINGLE DAY.
