I do have some advice, put that shock collar around your neck, tie it up and put it on a medium setting and have someone push the button to shock you.
Using shock cllar is a lazy persons way of training their dog- not to mention cruel! use positive reinforcements and he will be much more confident and understand that white flags are his friends and when he stays on the right side he gets a treat- he won't pass the flags ever again.
I am sorry that this video has so many dislikes it does not deserve them at all...sorry that so many people are so uninformed that they do not understand how dogs act or how the electric fence works...good video thanks for sharing
@69salford69 What? That doesnt even make sense? Invisible fences are for people who love training their dogs and use it just as that a training method that helps your dog know its boundary so it does not get hit by a car or lost into the wild....
@69salford69 You just made my point!!! Inorder to have control of your dog you need to train it! And you use the fence as a TRAINING TOOL! As soon as the dog learns it boundaries you take off the collar but he will still remember where he can and cannot go....You do not dominate your dog you train it with respect and positive reinforcement...For some people the Invisible fence is their only choice at keeping their dog safe there is absolutely nothing wrong with them...
@GunMetalJeep45 "...You do not dominate your dog you train it with respect and positive reinforcement."
= A pack leader will dominate the dogs in his pack. This earns trust and respect. The pack leader keeps the pack from danger or harm.
These fences hurt the dog and mentally traumatise it, so it is scared of the fence. The dogs learns it's boundaries from FEAR and PAIN rather than TRUST and RESPECT
Invisible fences certainly can and do cause aggressive incidents. MsLabMom got it right. Any stimuli such as a child walking by, a bike or whatever, where the dog rushes the "fence" causes the dog to associate the shock and pain with what is foremost in his mind, i.e. the child, bike, etc. I had one client who had to put their dog down for that very reason, and there were no incidents prior to the fence. Also, they don't keep anything OUT. Another client lost his yorkie when 2 coyotes came in.
@Steelgeek have you ever seen coyotes? they will come in even a regular fence...so will rabbits squirrels birds ect. electric fences are perfectly fine! IF the training is properly done...which takes a patient and good trainer.......
@GavriellaMichal unreal...it is a dog...they do not speak english they do not understand stop dont go there...I would much rather have my dog get a tiny unpleasant shock once or twice than have him get hit by a car...the shock is nothing more than putting your tongue on a 9v battery things we did as kids for dares and jokes...
@GunMetalJeep45 you obviously don't understand that a nine volt battery can be directed to a capacitor to then be charged and released like a taser. IT WORKS THE SAME WAY BUD.
@themoonpro actually I am quite aware of it... being an engineer and all...you dont understand that the shock levels are adjusted based on your dog it is meant to be used as a nuisance not to hurt them if they are used properly (the way I do)...maybe others do not use them this way the correct way. I have been shocked at the level that my dogs is at as I felt that it isnt fair to put him through something that I am not aware of...it is nothing like a taser....BUD
@GunMetalJeep45 Ok so you do understand thatboth a taser and a shock collar have differentlevels of voltage though thetaser is just built for larger current. On a different note, you are not a dog, therefore you dont actuallyknow what they are feeling.Maybethey have a different electrical resistancethan us humans. Unless you've done theresearch you dont know. So i suggestremoving the shock collar andresearching alternative methods. Being an engineer and all, im sure you'll come up with something
@themoonpro my Sibe no longer has to wear it and is free to roam his 3 acres happily and I do not have to worry about him getting hit by a car because I trained him properly using the collar as a training tool as it was intended not just throwing him out there to get shocked dont comment on my training that you have no idea of my dog and I are very happy and he respects me and loves me we are fine and happy
Mslabmom and yaqohomo, both your statements are untrue. Alhough the dog may be able to run through, you should surpervise our pet. E collars or invisible fences do not cause aggression and aren't banned. Anyone who thinks that is I'll informed.
The Invisible Fence Brand is not "banned" in any state or Country. They actually just opened more dealerships to cover the areas that still needed the service. Secondly dogs do not gain aggression from using the Invisible Fence. The Invisible Fence is considered as a "positive" reinforcement system that has training to help the pet owner and the pet to be confident about the boundries.
Dogs whose yards are surrounded by electric fences may develop fear or aggression aimed at what they believe is the source of the shock (kids riding by on bikes, the mail carrier, the dog next door, etc.). Dogs have been known to run through electric fences when frightened by fireworks or chasing a squirrel and then be too scared to cross back through the barrier.
This dope has no idea how to train a dog to use the invisible fence. A properly trained dog will NEVER get out! Our 85LB Doberman will stop dead in his tracks far before the fence...even when chasing deer. So if your dog is getting out, he's not properly trained.
@joenissan well maybe his dog is more intelligent then yours, and knows that the beep sound will not hurt him, just the shock itself which will go off in another 5 feet.
@sandiegomitch I've been doing this for more years than I care to admit. Dogs don't have the capacity to logically think that way. They don't think...gee, wait a sec and it'll stop. If properly trained, they know that when they hear the tone, to turn around ....fast or they'll be a very unpleasant consequence. Also, I should add that you need to have A) a good system with enough voltage and B) Keep fresh the batteries in the collar itself. It's all in the training my friend.
@Ntwadumela1 They all do the same thing and are probably all within the same power range to do the job. But I believe they're around 9k volts....low amperage, harmless volts I might add. Truth be told, ANY of these systems will do the job IF, and only if, the is trained the right way. No dog, even a pit, will get it...it just may take a bit more hands on training. I use Dog Guard myself, but Invisible fence brand is good (a bit expensive IMO). But remember, training training training.
@Ntwadumela1 Take the right amount of time...should be about a months time before fully trained and all flags should be removed about that time or shortly thereafter. So if you have a dog that's running through the fence, it's probably A...not a great/powerful enough setup and B....not fully trained yet.
@joenissan I use a cattle electric fence in conjunction with a chain-link fence. It works perfect, the electric fence prevents dogs from digging under the chain-link fence but i can’t afford to do that on the whole property (about 19 acres). The electric fence alone is cheap but it doesn’t work on some of my dogs, they would run through it.
@FroopieLoopies I agree with you! These people down my street have this pitbull and it ALWAYS gets out! Once, we were going walking with my pomeranian, and the pit bull looks at us, and just jumps the fence! Then. he hit his head on this car that was trying to leve without hutting him (he ran into the door). He's escaped a lot of other times but I can't remeber what happened. It usually takes them 2 hours to get him back.
Any system will costs between $900 and $1000 for a normal sized yard, up to about an acre or so. I prefer the DogWatch system because of it's FM technology and also because their batteries inside of the collar last 2 years, as compared to, at best, a quarter of that for the rest of the competition. Ultimately, it was, bar none, the best $1000 that I've ever spent.
You can also do it yourself for about $200-250, you just have to put it in yourself. The professionals charge an insane amount for something that is reasonable for you to do on your own. Google search DIY invisible fence and see what you get.
