she is a incredeble little song-bird.......her voice is such a pretty instrument ! i really dont even really like this genre of music........but her talent CANNOT be denied !
I've been listening to her since I was 16 yrs old. Almost all of her songs have played a theme during my path of life. She still sings to my heart at 33.
Our gift from the old world in Scotland to the new world in the Americas. Where do you think the name comes from? She comes from an ancient Gallic nation replete with mytstery and enchantment.
The meaning of the song depicts the fear(and great appreciation) in loving someone, getting wrapped up in them, and losing sight of what you really have. Towards the end, she talks about this person leaving her life, throwing her back into the "Life that she dreads".
Its like losing the love of your life, never forgetting or letting that person go.
ive heard so many of her songs before but i found this one cause some guys used it in their cosplay skit lol, but all of her music is amazing and i love this song!
I love this song! One of my favorites...if you don't have it...go get the Mirrorball album--the 2 disc version is best album I own...I love it, and never get tired of listening...
I don't know why people thumbed down this comment, (I prefer the album version, myself) but seeing Sarah McLachlan in concert, especially this one, would have been a truly magical experience, so I don't know which I'd prefer. I have to say that a recording does not have the same effect as hearing it real... live... Either way, the song, and artist, are beautiful. Arguing the beauty of one version of this song over another would be like arguing the beauty of silver versus gold: truly preference.

She speaks to an old guy here (50) in such a way that I can remember the pain. Somehow this song makes it hurt less, you know?

I truly think this is her most underrated songs and I hope she continues to perform it live.

@rundna Yes I agree. I think it often gets forgotten, but it is completely beautiful. Reminds me of Joan Baez.

Sure...I must admit I am bit obsessed with her. I just love her!
But thanks for sharing the video. It's not one of her most famous songs, but precisely for that reason, it's good to see it here.
