  • I like how their version of "fuck" sounds just like ours.

Maybe the prawns don't have a word for "fuck" (or "fok" in the Afrikaans language), and learned it by hearing humans say it?

  • i think he said: "fwang" when he cussed lol

  • GREAT IDEA. Not stupid at all! There must be other words. Great job!

    JEK to the 3 dislikes!

  • heh heh when I first watched D9 a lot of the language sounded like gurgling your own phlem while you speak

  • How'd you get this video posted to youtube without having it blocked around the world by Sony Pictures? I made a mashup with District 9 and it keeps getting blocked, I know the music isn't doing it. Please tell me what you did!

  • Ok let cut some cake,,,,, CUUut sooOome cAke

  • i got this movie ripped off the internet without subtitles, i didnt know subtitles appeared when they were speaking. well foock that, i strangely kindoff understood them after 15 minutes watching it. its a movie so the alien language is quickly made up by humans, its not that hard to understand it, they used a lot of bodytalk too.

  • Absolutlely briliannt...what a concept...will try "prawn" soon.... easier than Klingon ??? Howard

  • Is it weird if I can actually speak like this...like sound like it? My friends keep on wanting me to speak like a prawn over and over again. Some skills are better left secret.

  • i like how they actually kept the same words through out the movie, instead of having random clicking and gurgling sounds for words that repeated .

:D this movie is just all kinds of epic

  • fooking prawns

  • i feel my throat little weird

I write appostrophy when it's a deaf click and ! when it's a clear click.

Wow am I a nerd or what.

  • @tetankaluv you definitely know phonetics!

  • @venichen1 Meh :D I'm just a District 9 nerd who's seen the movie too many times. People do hear it differently though.

Correction, there's no such thing as too much D9.

  • In case you're interested, I got these some time ago. Not sure how accurate they are, but they're language is so unclear anyway...

    It = tzi

    it is = tzi 'a

    my son = shya tu!lah

  • @tetankaluv

I was thinking it = Si, not tzi

Frankly, Chris's Yellow friend at the beginning is much easier to understand than Chris himself. He seems to have a significantly more "rumbly" voice than Chris's yellow friend. If they just switched the voices I would have been SO much happier. It's taken me probably 1.5 to 2 hours to go through about a minute worth of Prawn script, and I plan on making a multi-part video on translating the entire movie. Yeah, it's going to take a LONG time.

  • OH MY HOLY FRIGGIN' GOD, that's my fanfic in the description!!!

So you found those words I wrote? Lawl yay!!!

I did spend hours listening to them as well, and would've written so many other words I got if I'd had the chance to. *purrrr*

This is going in my favs, you know?

  • @tetankaluv Wait you're suthneh?

  • @aFallenWolf Yyyep. Who are you? O_o Are you in Deviantart?

  • Thanks for uploading, this is awesome!
