  • Tex Ritter sang the song in the film. Frankie did issue a record of himself singing the song.

  • It's from the "Kenton/Wagner" LP. My copy has no copyright date, but I got it used in the early 1970s, so it goes back a ways.

  • @thedogesl These are from the mid sixties.

  • This is the arrangement by Stan for his Wagner album he put out in the late 60's or early 70's.Johnny Richards didn't do this one.

  • It's a really cumbersome chart, but I still wish I had bought the album when it came out. The other Kenton album I regret not buying is "Kenton/Ritter" with the two Texans collaborating. I do scavenge the used record bins at music stores but haven't found either one yet.

  • @charly1gi is that tex ritter the singing cowboy ? what happened with this wagner record was stan wanted more and more instruments gerry mulligan wanted less so he called stan the wagner of jazz [there was a reissue of this on mobile fidelity an expensive record] .

  • @spacepatrolman Yes, Tex Ritter, the singing cowboy who sang "Do not forsake me, oh my darlin'" on the High Noon movie soundtrack. His son was actor John Ritter. If you've never seen "High Noon", you should. Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly face down a quartet of bad guys, one of whom is Sheb Wooley. Sheb not only played the high school principa in "Hoosiers", but in the '50's he made 45 rpm record titled, "One eyed, One horned, flying purple people eater". It'd funny how things are connected.

  • @charly1gi David crosbys father floyd won an acedemy award for cinematography for high noon

  • @spacepatrolman wait it was frankie lane that sing the theme from high noon

  • oh dear oh dear, thumbs up if you think wagner would cry :(

  • my first name is kenton... :D but this is terrible :/

  • Lots of fun! This Johnny Richards chart probably doesn't thrill Wagnerians, but it's a great workout for the orchestra and the playing is spectacular
