She became popular in Russia and this were Romanians from Bassarabia who didn't reccognize her at first.

You are right: she is a Romanian ETHNIC from the Romanian region of Northern Bukovina, occupied by the Slavs (Rus/Ukr) since 1939.

Unfortunately, she sells herself to the highest bidder: Russians (before 1990s), Romanians (1990-2000) -via Moldova-, and now Ukraine.

Bull, Bukovina was never fully Romanian or Ukrainian. When K. of Romania annexed Bukovina after WWI it was done without notice to ethnic Ukrainians that lived there and were actually biggest ethnic group living there. Not to mention forcefull "romanization" policies that were applied on all slavs during the time that Romania OCCUPIED that region.

So while Stalin and NKVD were bastards (and I dont deny it) Romanian govt werent angels with wings either.
