2. Dirty Pretty Things (shame they split up but WTA will always remain a legendary album)

3. Babyshambles (good band but not quite as good as DPT)

I actually prefer them to Babyshambles, but the second DPT album was somewhat disappointing. It lacked the same intensity, which Carl normally does very well. Went a bit too far in the pop direction - all of his stuff has elements of that, it usually works well. Waterloo to Anywhere is brilliant though.

It's strange, to me, Dirty pretty Things are one of those bands who had the quality and material to be world-beaters but never quite seemed to get as far as they could have. I prefer Libs and Shambles personally but I can see how brilliant DPT's are too (and I actually prefer Carl's voice to pete's tbh) and its a shame they ended!

I'd say just the one pickup... the melody maker has a small black plaque at the bottom of the neck which from a distance could be confused for a neck pickup. Although, yes, they do come in two pickup versions. I have the single pickup re-issue melody maker, love it, such a great guitar!

I think they both are great and really cant be compared cause even in the libertines the two styles were pretty different, in writing and playing. One reason Babyshambles seem to be more popular to me is because Pete is constantly doing outside sessions, solo projects and makes alot of it available for free so he has more stuff circulating.
