Nijinsky and mill reef are about equal. Mill reef only losing out to the best miler ever in brigadier Gerard and beaten once in a 2 y old race in France. Sea the stars reminds me of Nijinsky though in his relaxed manner.
The superlatives for Nijinsky are totally justified and to argue against that you are either biased beyond belief or don't know a thing about Horseracing. Or both!!!
Nijinsky was a phenomenon! simply unique and his Triple Crown will stay on his head for a long time yet!
See The Stars?? huh! Nijinsky did it long ago! and took the KG, Irish Derby, St.Leger and almost the Arc on top of it!
i agree regarding the triple crown as there is more a tendency to breed speedier types now butre danzig as a sire what about sadlers wells far and away the most prepotent sire in europe since st simon i know danehill shuttled to northern and southern hemisphere studs and would never knock him as a sire and sire of sires but sadlers wells record still speaks for itself and stands up to the closest scrutiny. i would say he is almost solely responsible for the success of coolmore stud europe anyway
I think I have commented on this before....Oh So Sharp ran in races that were not open to the boys whereas the 2000 Guineas Epsom Derby and the St Leger are open to guys and girls.
Is it just me and you on the group??? Everything goes back to Northern Dancer - please take to time to watch Dance Smartly win the Canadian Triple Crown (I believe she was the only filly to do so) Sadly she died I think, last year after a paddock accident. She was also a great brood mare. She produced two Canadian Queens's Plate winners in a row (the only filly to do so. Also her half brother Smart Strike is the sire of Curlin.
I would stick my neck out and say there will not not be another Triple Crown winner! at least not in my lifetime. What Nijinsky acheived was phenomenal! It seems to me that Stamina and toughness is being bred out of o lot of our horses, look at the races Nijinsky contested in a single season! he was really tested! you don't see that these days because speed seems to be the main factor and horses seem brittle in comparison to the way they were bred end tried on the racecourse in days gone by!
Nijinsky was probably Northern Dancer's best son - I think if Danzig had run anymore he would have given Nijinsky literally a run for his money. Northern Dancer - what a sire!!! But thank goodness, they let Danzig go to stud and what wonderful sires he produced - No. 1 being Danehill and of course he produced that wonderful Canadian Triple Crown Winner - Dance Smartly - who herself was a great broodmare.Northern Dancer also had two more English Derby winners. Can't say enough about him.
well winning the 'Arc isn't everything...there aren't many (if any)of the so called 'all time greats' who won it could have taken the elusive English Triple Crown (and some 'Arc winners wouldn't have won any of the three!). This horse won the Triple Crown and then damn well nearly won the 'Arc when he was nowhere near his best!!

I love the breeding of this line. My gelding is Nikinsky's grandson. He just looks super and has a wonderful temperament.

@jmdm1957 Rubbish. Nijinsky the greatest racehorse in the past 40 years, Yes even above Dancing Brave and Sea The Stars. End of story...
