Thanks for the video, everything installed successfully but for some reason, every time I launch the SDK Manager, the command prompt window opens up for less than a second before it immediately closes. Any idea why or what I can do to get it to work? Thanks!
Amazing tutorial! This guy truly knows his stuff. I tried to get setup with "Thenewboston" and got totally confused. Thanks for the step by step process. No problems setting up using Windows 7.
Sorry but I can not say in the words how fuckin stupid program eclipse is. EACH time I am trying to install it it just stops somewhere in the middle of process!!!!
it stupid it should be on click download and that's that none of copy and paste this download that c*** that's how it should be how on earth is android going to overtake apple in turns of the number of apps
ok correction if the "error loading preferances" "error" shows up, just ignore it and wait for the simulator to load up... it may take 2-5 minutes depending on your computer or it might load up in seconds like in androidperk's pc.
i was able to fix the "invalid command-line parameter: files" by re-installing Android-sdk into the folder - c:\Progra~2\Android\Android-SDK (make sure it's ~ and not - otherwise it won't work) also remember that Progra~2 is for the x64 version and Progra~1 is for the 32 bit version.
however, a new error showed up.
when i click start to run the emulator, the emulator opens up and ain't loading.
instead showing the messege from java: "error loading preferances".
I keep getting this problem when i copy the url in the "work with" box:
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found. Software being installed: Android Development Tools 12.0.0.v201106281929-138431 (com.android.ide.eclipse.adt.feature.group 12.0.0.v201106281929-138431)
@navseeshere Check the memory settings of your AVD, It only accepts certain values... FYI, try setting it to whatever your phone has... If that doesn't work, just email me.
@tperkin2 I found out how to do fix that, use your cmd prompts and move to your SDK folder, and then to the tools folder inside of that and type "emulator -avd 'name of your avd you created' " and then it should open
@MrRenar11 If that happens when you install the Android Sdk, and you know you installed the Java JDK, when you get that warning just hit "back" then go to "next " and it should clear up. if it doesnt, just IM me.
you now recieved a new veiwer

when i get to the point of pressing start and emulating my android device (9:25) then for some reason the android SDK program tells me:
invalid command-line parameter: Files.
Hint: use '@foo' to launch a virtual device named 'foo'.
