Hahahahahaha Are they KIDDING me??? I remember these watches in the 80's and my parents/aunts/uncles and any other grown-up I knew used to LAUGH at these things and call them cheap, tacky and low-class. In fact, my father got one as a gift at some office party and gave it to me and my sister to PLAY with because he thought it was so ridiculous!! Oh and "Laserbeam" my ass! It's called CHEAP LCD!!!
why did the hands disappear? because its a CHEAP! PIECE! OF SHIT! why would you want a watch with disappearing hands? That the first thing that came to my mine when i saw this commercial 25 years ago as a kid
This thing used to come on tv right after I got home from school. I guess they were wrong. It never did become the most sought after wristwatch of all time. I remember by the late 1980s these things could be found at flea markets for $5.
I remember they played this commercial to death. I actually saw a friend of mine wearing one. He denied buying it, said his dad found it and gave it to him. It seriously looked like it came out of a gumball machine; It was all cheap plastic.
In all honesty, this is some slick advertising and clever pyscological manipulation that went into hocking what was by any practical standards a cheap P.O.S. watch.
When the commercial for this watch first came out, it said "LASER! PULSES! OF LIGHT!" I wonder if they got sued for claiming that an LCD wristwatch had lasers in it.
Dear Sweet Christ.......I Remmeber seeing this ad while watching cartoons after school as a child. Even after some 20 odd years later it takes me right back there.
There was another version with a guy in a white lab coat, representing the deep science embedded in this quality time piece.
