  • Que voz maravilhosa, meu Deus!

    Fico cada vez mais encantada!

  • THUMBS UP IF YOU LIKE IT

  • This is to be put among the best versions according to my point of view. Also like Nina Simone and David Bowie singing this song, but I must say I do not like Barbra Streisand´s version, which I find a little too transformed in its music arrangements, if we take in consideration the original partiture. Greetings and thanks. Merry Christmas!

  • What a voice, one in a million , one of my favorite songs never tire of hearing her sing , simply the best !!!

  • THUMBS UP IF YOU WATCH THIS VIDEO EVERYDAY

  • A DAVID BOWIE SONG!!!!! beautiful

  • @MAXJLO - nina simone wrote it

  • @tsunchoo Nina Simone didn't write it dude... she sang it as almost every jazz standard. This one has actually been written by Dimitri Tiomkin and Ned Washington, and sung by Johnny Mathis for the movie of the same name.

  • @Yirmes - apologies - should've checked..

  • ...Sie ist so Einmalig.***

  • sooooooo sexyyyy

  • @pocomanero grande voce grazie madre natura

  • Oh heaven, this is beautiful!

  • RANDY the best !

  • In my opinion nothing can touch Johnny's original! Randy comes next then the high priestess Nina! It's really very simple.

  • @743slickrick Thought the same, but then I heard young home girl Esperanza Spalding do this- live! I felt like a real traitor, but Esperanza did. it. BEST. No biased here.

  • In my opinion nothing can touch Johnny's original! Randy comes next then the high priestess Nina!

  • always makes me feel that i am alive... thanx so much

  • sensations stimme. es nagyon jo elöadas. super

  • Νο one can come close to Nina Simone's version! The passion and depth of Nina's voice is by far the best for this beautiful song! Johnny Mathis comes second in my opinion.

  • Nina is nina no doubt other did well but nina makes us fly by wind

  • Nina is nina no doubt other did well but nina makes us fly by wind

  • @gldnkey7 np ;)

  • Nina Simone has the best understanding of the song.

  • That's a great performance, but listen also the magic interpretation of David Bowie.

  • wonderful lyrics sang so wonderfully

  • her and george michael version are the best !

  • its so beautiful, its calm, smoothe, soft, delicate yet so mind blowing. wow

  • there is nobody who can top randy she is amazing.

  • I never heard any other version of this song, but this will do nicely.

I love Randy's voice. Also listen to When I'm over you. Sheer passion.

What an artist. I've followed her ever since the Crusaders, so she's been a part of my life when so much happened. Now things have calmed down and it's good to reflect with the same songs to refer to.

  • bowies version makes it one of the most beautiful songs ever!!

  • @ThePistolpete1963 its a woman song but bowie does a fab version

  • I like most all versions of this song. It's difficult to mess up.

  • gorgeous, still, i prefer Nina's version, has bit more soul, from my point of view. Still great song always.

  • I love it but disagree about Cat Power's version, which I like. Cat Power doesn't have the lush arrangement one thinks this song deserves, and usually gets. Cat Power is playing, remember.

  • LOVE this version! But the first version I ever heard was by Johnny Mathis. (anyone remember him?) It was excellent too!

  • Randy is excellent. The others give their best. But please find The High Priestess of Soul, Nina Simone's version of Wild is the Wind and understand why she gained that title. You are in for the ultimate blessing of this song.

  • omg she makes me cry. simply a god send our lil Randy Crawford

  • @Venkykan1 Are you sure?

  • Just listened to Nina Simones' cover. Lots of feeling but I like Randys' voice better. For a tension that builds to an intense emotional crescendo I'll take Bowie. Bowie At The Beeb is my favorite.

  • Beautiful. Beats Streisand all to hell. Cobains' version sucks. Cat Power had no feeling. Just strung out the song. Best apple goes to Bowie. Best orange to Randy. What a beautiful face to look at. My favorite color skin. Beautiful eyes. Wavy curly hair. Gorgeous.

  • Totally different, this and Bowie's version. Different expression, content, language, feeling, pain. That title, fundamental compositional structure and lyrics are the same is merely a technicality.

She's the greatest, so is Bowie, each in their way, with this song.

  • Lovely

  • amazing..........

    beautiful voice

    melancholy...

    ROMANTIC

  • bowie,s can not come close to randy or nina,, to me they are the best ..

  • Love Nina's version

  • I have heard Bowie's and Streisand's rendition but I'm stuck between her and Simone

  • @youjustdoyou08 Can sombody tel me where i found the beautiful song of Randy named" i'd Be an angel?

    My regards

    blue

  • have listened to David Bowie singing this song and dont understand why he has had 700000 folk listen to him 600000 more than Randy as he is just painfull and she is a pleasure but guess each to there own x

  • beautyful voice, wonderful and one of the most lovely song and words that excist. the best performimg and singing this song is Bowie, sung with soul...I dont hear a soul singing in this voice, sorry Randy, It does not touched me...

  • @kaddourM Nina Simone does an excellent, passionate rendition.

  • Since when do we live in a musical totalitarian state? Each version of this song is different and special, that's what makes it such a great song.

  • My favorite version is David Bowie`s, but you are so right! After a song is written it has it`s own life and needs to be what ever "you" want it to be.... I think:-)

  • Incidentally, my favourite is also David Bowie's version, it is really amazing.

  • Nina owns this song nobody else should go near it and nobody else even comes close.

  • I agree this should get airplay. There is no other voice like Randy's. I don't appreciate the "covers" posted on the tube that never hint that it's a cover. Don't insult the artist or the viewer and disclose in the title. As for this one....of course it is the REAL Randy Crawford....love it.

  • how could u say such a dummy thing like that ? PRICK UP UR EARS, all the talent and signature do come from the unique emotion that randy crawford does contain and has in her voice, totally unbelievable to hear such dummy comment like that

  • I've heard every version possibly made of this song and Randy's version is by far the BEST.

  • @auntlil08 - it is awesome but ninas is chilling to the bone and the piano is great as well though the music behind this amazing as well

  • Obviously most of you are not singers, because you would appreciate Randy's gregeous voice and be thankful for her contribution to this world.

One can just listen to sound without feeling and just love that period.

  • No one who covered this song understood it or nina. the song is earie and somber because its trying to convey how lonely it can be to love someone so deeply. the instrumentals that soften the sound on the ears takes away from that. none of these remakes deserve to be associated with nina

  • umm cover songs are essential because they introduce great songs to the next generation of listeners...they hear the covers and get introduced to a bronze era of brilliant songs and artists

  • except for the original from Johnny Mathis, and Barbra Streisand's beautifully orchestrated version, which knocked it out of the park, all other versions of this song SUCK because of lack of emotion - Bowie's is a joke - George MIchael's is a parody of Bowie and this one, well, she didn't really nal it - Dimitri Tiomkin's magnificant melody needs to be rendered faithfully, not re-interpreted.

  • Surprised no one has heard johnny mathis version of this song it the one i grew up hearing it not bad

  • i love randy but c,mon Violins like streisand Wrong words!!!

  • I have loved her music for years, i think she will be one of the most beautiful divas i will ever hear!!

  • I think nina is best soft ..............

  • the best of all versions ever

  • I love Bowie more than anyone he is my god.. but people should never say a cover is better than the original. Oh no. Because that's just what those Nirvana punks do to Bowie's Man Who Sold The World.

  • This sounded okay, but Bowie has the best version of this song I have ever heard.

  • Bowie's great but check out George Michaels version. After about three listens I had to concede that as the best version. Even over my man Bowie.

  • ITS GOOD

BUT NINA IS BETTER ,and BOWIE!,,, THEY FEEL THE SONG, AND MAKE IT ALIVE, listen

  • I can no longer find Nina's version

  • me neither that sucks

  • I like Randy's version the most.....

  • @IV6Boy YES! YES! YES!!!!!!!!!! :-)

    Henk

  • OWW... how coincidencely, this mornin I woke up with Nina Simone's, Wild Is The Wind, I didn't know why but now I do...XXX Lovely Universe

  • lindo demaissssssss

  • randys version is my favourite. she doesnt oversing it like some of the other versions ive heard. she doesnt need to as her voice is pure magic.

  • @mrmanrules My favorite is Nina Simone, like Randy, but I'm sorry Nina had me in the clouds, nothin deeper than her bluesyyee and soulful old deep voice

  • @queenray1 So true. Nina takes it at a much slower tempo, which works better for me. I am a big fan of Randy, and although this version is good it pales when compared to Queen Nina.

  • Her version is nice, soft, feminine. But I love David's version best. Matter of taste...

  • Yes,true...Dawid 's is perfect...

  • I love Randy from way back. Since "Cadillac Records" came out, there has been renewed interest in Etta James and the song "At Last." Btw, Beyonce does a killer version in the movie.

But for my money, Randy does something to that song that not even Etta can do. It gives me chills just thinking about it. But it never gets airplay, and I dont even see it here. Am I crazy, or does anyone out there agree with me?

  • i would really like to hear randy's version of at last. where can you find it

  • It's on her very first (I think) album, called Miss Randy Crawford, 1977!! Btw, every cut on it is great. Thanks for the input.

  • thanks for that. no sign of it on youtube tho. ill find it no doubt

  • Smokey and quick vibrato -- just lovely. Less self-indulgent than the interpretations of so many others.

  • no comment, so sweet song

  • I love this song, probably my favorite song from any movie I know; would one of you fellow WITW admirers please tell me who sings it in the recent movie HARVEY MILK? That is a killer version!

  • Nina Simone!

  • And no one here has given George Michael his due on HIS version of this song, very lush, full of romance and longing. But the top two has to be Nina Simone and Barbra Streisand, for me...

  • Thanks for mentioning George Michael, I just looked it up and it sound cool! I didn't know he ever sung that one!

  • Randy Crawford sing that song perfectly!

However, no one can sing it as good as David Bowie, he's got unique vocals of his own, it's his song to his own keys... as for Nina Simone? She sings that particular song far to slowly for my taste... there's also Streisand and Mathis that create a great ambience with this song as well, I picked Randy though!

  • It's not really fair to the song or to the artist to compare this version to that version or his version to her version. Bowie's version is powerful and very dramatic. Nina Simone's version is sultry, throbbingly sad. And Randy's version is light, feminine and full of angst. I,for one, love the song and love all of the versions - each version brings a different emotion to the table for me. Thanks so much!

  • @Lonestarry A beautiful song and you are right all versions are exceptional but Randy Crawford and Nina Simone are out of this world. I believe this song is more for a woman than a man.

  • @Lonestarry Very insightful!,

    Amour,

    john

  • No matter who did the version of this song, the song and lyrics are beautiful. Randy C's version is stunning.Such feeling in the way she sings it.

  • orange stone face. i think you need 2 listen to randy's version she has sole an such an amazing voice. i went 2 c her live an i nearly cried when she sang this song amazingly beautiful.

  • Randy has an incredible vocal in this song. She is a brilliant singer and her voice is a beautiful instrument. You can actually feel what she is saying.

  • This good but.....Nina Simone blow this song out the water...

  • This song is the epitome of how it feels to desire someone

  • no bad
