heard that they had the pandarian monks in the warcraft game.could be wrong did not really play many of the warcrafts, but this is what i heard from a friend.
I don't know, this is WoW, we have talking Cows, living dead people, talking fish, intelligent frogs (murlocs), talking birds, talking bears, talking cats, druids that can change into all these forms, oh yes, lets not forget the talking wolves (worgens). We ride wolves (and eat them), ride cats, ride on ostriches (BE mount ;)), Kodo's, we fly on dragons and some wierd mythical colorful creatures I haven't a clue about but oh no, not pandas..... ;)

There are tauren/bull-like creatures, worgen/wolf-like creatures, why not panda's., 6 months down the line it'll be like every other class. Over powered.
As long as we get some epic bosses to fight, I don't really care about what race I am. Yes it's nice to transmog your toon, but anyone who plays surely spends more time either reading quest text, or grinding mats, or looking at health bars and cool down timers.

I'm actually kinda neutral on the panda player character race but here's my take; I don't really see the big deal. I'm not hating on WoW or anything (I still play from time to time) but most (not all) of the games player characters are big cartoony looking characters anyway (I'm not hating on the graphics either). And unless you have some armor set on, the armor ends up looking like you have clown clothes on. So I don't see where one more cartoony character being added makes much of a difference
Further to my previous post, I don't mind the monks so much. I understand you were using the world definition of a monk, but in games... especially fantasy games, monks do kick ass. And I am looking forward to how the monk class works. As for which class I would have preferred... Dragoon class maybe. Who knows, I think things could have been better, thats all.
As a side note, I know you're having audio issues, but I for one LOVE seeing you back on the interweb :)

Alright Pandas. Don't like it. I believe that I would have been alright if they were an NPC race, where we invade their land or something like that, but NOT playable. I think this expansion is a desperate attempt to appeal to kids and more of the girls/women who don't play WoW currently. I have dubbed this expansion Kung Fu Panda Pokemon edition. I will play the Beta when it comes out, but I have very extremely low expectations.

I'm thinking if they're ANYTHING like the monks I've played in other games, it'll be easy to get 1hit KOs on PVP. Plus they just look badass. If pandas can be hunters and they have a rugged/masculine look I'll probably make one, and I hope they never stop dumbing down the game...everyone liked Diablo 2. I want WoW to be like that.
On top of dumbing down the talent trees, I hate having to wait so long for a talent 'point'. Even now I miss getting a talent point every level after 9 like before. With even more mmo's going free to play, I'm liking City of Heroes over WoW. I'm also playing console games more. Skyrim, Dead Island, and Fallout 3 have my attention now. I want to get into Mass Effect and Dragon Age, but I can't control a team successfully :(

The only thing that evokes a strong emotional response from me is what they did to the talent trees. I'm quite pissed at less choices and more dumbing down. It neither looks or sounds cool and fun.
Guess I'm a little meh about it only cause it seems like Blizzard is trying to ride the coat tails of the whole Kung Fu Panda movie shlock and I half expect to see Jack Black as the voice of at least one or two Pandas when Mists eventually comes out. But.. like everyone else prolly.. I'll roll a Panda just to try it..
@tmillerofde Hey man, Mist of Pandaria has been around since Warcraft 3 which was quite sometime before Kung Fu Panda came out. It's actually part of the lore
I'm excited for Mists as far as the new land to explore, and the new dungeons. But, having Pandarian be a playable race, I'm super disappointed. If they were just a group you can earn rep with and get cool rewards, I wouldn't mind as much. But, as you said the "epic" feeling of pandas is just not there. A little gay, imo >.> lol XD
