  • Thanks for the great info!

  • What should i dehydrate first , i have a snackmaster dehydrator 2400T ,i could expand to 12 trays but now is only 4,but i need some help i want to learn how to do this right thx.

  • THAT IS SO COOL

  • why would u make this vid??? all ur doing is showing us how to open bags and put trays into a dehydrator..... wtf

  • its a shame the frozen products contain so much sodium. Fresh I say :)

  • how do i dehydrate ice cream i had some and it was the bomb

  • 3:32 "im going to take a knife and im going to slice them"

    lol

  • I have been trying to contact you via your web site. My question is about the time that dehydrated frozen foods are good for. I bought my excalibur based on what you just said about 30 years. How can I find out how long dehydrated foods last? Especially frozen foods.

  • thank you!

  • That looks like the Tops 10/$10 deal I just got this past week, lol!

  • How long the paraflexx sheets last?

  • Sktpsy: I went to the Dollar Tree and bought the "disposable cutting boards" 2 for a $1- I've been using them as paraflexx sheets now for 3 solid months of dehydrating. Worked perfect after I trimmed the ends, and only 50 cents each!

  • @deborahmouser Those disposable cutting boards at the Dollar Tree are also great for templates if you like to quilt while drying food! LOL

  • I am in UK and can you please tell me the company you know ships to UK? TY

  • I dehydrated 4 pounds of frozen mixed veggies, 1 pound of frozen onions, peppers and celery and 3 pounds of beef jerky. I simmered it all day in the slow cooker with cajun spice. The stew was a big hit at supper. 8 pounds of dehydrated food fit in one and a half quart-size zip-lock bags.

  • Please go to our web site Dehydrate2store and enter our free give away of a

9 tray Excalibur Dehydrator. All entries must be in by Dec.21, 2009 we will video tape the drawing. Also, you will find many more video, tips and recipes so spread the word and tell your friends. Good luck and Merry Christmas to all. Tammy

  • Is it advisable to dehydrate fish or other meats in the Excalibur?

  • thx for the vids tammy!

    Take care

  • Thanks For The Vids Tammy I am now addicted to dehydrating I found Cantaloupes on sale for fifty cents each, needless to say I dehydrated them. They are yummy my grandkids love them.

    Thanks Dusty

  • Oooh -- melons! I hadn't thought of that!. Did they take a long time with their high water content? Thanks for the idea -- I'm waiting for muskmelons to mature and ripen in the garden. That would be so cool if I could dehydrate some!

  • No not really, I put cantaloupe on at night by the time i got up and dressed they were done. We did eat a few pieces after they had dehydrated to about half way thru OMG they were good. Fully cooked they are like cantaloupe chips. Eat them raw or hydrate them Watermelon is like a fruit roll up yummy!

  • One more thing i cut my melons thin since they are mostly water

  • Sweet! another useful video. :) Thanks!

  • Hey Tammy -- are you mixing the frozen fruits and veges in the same dehydrator? I try to do veges at one time and fruits at another with the fresh stuff because sometimes, the blueberries, cherries, etc. drip and I'm afraid of flavors drifting over to each other -- but that wouldn't be a concern with the frozen, would it? Cool! Have you ever done Swiss Chard? (Well, of course you have, silly me!) It comes out just as beautiful (color wise) as fresh!

  • Oh, you got a second dehydrator -- you said you were going to. I'm jealous. I've been dehydrating all the fresh fruit in season and I want to make yogurt!!! And I've got a stash of frozen veges waiting in the freezer to boot. Now, did you get your cherry stoner? I picked one up and it's pretty good -- I've been canning and dehydrating cherries like mad. We've had a bumper cherry crop. Oh, and I've been doing them whole (after de-pitting) -- so far so good!

  • I like your lighting! ;-)

  • Hi Bobster986,

We pointed the lights at the ceiling and it worked great.

Now, I would like to say thank you Bobster986 for that great idea. We shine bright because of you. Tammy

  • Hi Tammy, It is my pleasure to help out. You have given me so many tips on dehydrating, it's the least I could do. If you need any other help, please let me know, I have been in the video bizz for 25 years now,and I think what you're doing is GREAT! Bob

  • Thanks for the videos. Food is good for up to 30 years, I hope everyone heard that. With the rising foods prices that are going to be coming our way. This is a great was to save money and stay ahead of the curve.

  • My mom and I are watching the video together! Awesome! We can't wait to try!

  • Be careful.. . . Tammy and her videos are addictive. Next thing you know, your once clutter-free countertops will have dehydrators, food slicers, and vacuum sealers on them! : )

  • hahaha too late.....my kitchen has already gotten that way!

  • I noticed that you have more than one dehydrator. Do you think that it is better to have two 4 or 5 trays or one 9 or more trays? I am going to buy one this week, but I was thinking about getting two small ones like the 2400 series 4 tray.

    Great video!

  • Hi crissala,

I have 2 nine tray Excalibur and I keep them running all the time. I would love to buy another 9 tray. I cook with dehydrated food everyday and I save a ton of money on my grocery bill. Plus I give a lot away. I would recommend a nine tray. Part 2 to this video should be up soon. Tammy

  • You are a fantastic wealth of information and tips. I really appreciate the time you take to make the videos...I feel they may very well be a life saver soon...literally!

    Thanks Tammy, you're the best!

  • Thank you always.

    Nice video^^/

  • As always Tammy great video. I like krogers 10/$1 when they have frozen veggies. I dehydrate for days...lol. Thanks again for sharing with us.

  • Did you say 10 for $1.00? If so, I have to find a Krogers, what state are they in?

Great information for all the viewers.

Feel free to post details. Thank you so much, Tammy

  • Sorry for the typo, its suppose to be 10/$10.00. Still a good buy though.

  • LOL, you got me on that one. Yes, that is still a great deal. I love it when people add information that helps all of us out. So, if you find good deals don't forget about the rest of us. I'm still laughing at me. Tammy

  • Wow, that looks so much easier. You mentioned the trick with the frozen corn in your earlier videos, I always wondered about other frozen foods. I like doing the corn, it makes your house smell really good.

  • Another question for you Tammy. Why don't you spray the carrots with lemon juice as I am (per your instructions) on my baby fresh carrots? Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Swifive,

Carrots are blanched and then flash frozen at very low temps. It's almost like the carrots are processed twice, first when blanched and then when flash frozen . This helps lock in color and enzymes. Spraying lemon juice on frozen carrots would just run off. You could spray to add extra vitamins if you let the carrots thaw, but I don't feel it is necessary do to the fact they where processed twice. Tammy

  • If I have something frozen and I feel chunks, I usually give it a few drops on the counter to break it up. Much like a bag of ice and it works great. Hash browns are notorious for being 'chunky' :o). Great vids as usual!! Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom!

  • So thats the freeze dried food process, lol just kidding :)

Sometimes it cheaper to go this route than buying fruits and vegetables by the pound.
