Our group likes to do "Waltz of the Angels", which is a beautiful love song. I just found this song today and we will try to do it at a jam this Friday - if I can make it through the song without breaking up - this one really tears me up. We will do "Waltz of the Angels" first, then follow it with this one.
This one reminds me of Vern Gosdin's "Chiseled in Stone" and it took me quite a while before I could do that one in front of a crowd.
I'm not a big fan of gospel music, but every once in a while, a gospel song like this comes along, and I give it a listen, and enjoy every minute of it. I've been a fan of the Derailers ever since I first heard "The Right Place." It's also nice that Buck Owens joined them for a verse of this great song. RIP Buck!
I knew a 92 year old man that passed recently, and he sang some old songs at local music festivals while he walked this earth. I never heard him sing this song, but it made me wish I knew how to play guitar, so that way I could've rehearsed it with him, and joined him onstage to sing it. I wonder if we would've gotten a standing ovation for doing so... P.S. I'm on the junior side of 30, but I think my 92 year old friend would've liked this song.
@joshuabrooks21 Joshua, you maybe a 30 something but you have an old soul and this is a great compliment from a 60 + that has lived in the best years of country music with the old style of country music . God Bless and yes i love that whinning steel too
introduced to u-tube recently by my more IT literate son,I can't believe the artists
I can now view, found The Derailers through Wynn Stewart . I remember Wynn from an old Capitol compilation "Countrys Best" Haven't stopped singing the song since
The first Derailers song I can remember hearing was "Bar Exam," and I thought, "Where did these guys come from?" Then came "More Of Your Love," and "The Right Place," and then "Who's Gonna Mow Your Grass?," and I thought Buck Owens was making a comeback. Then, the icing on the cake came when I heard this hidden gem on Playlist.com. Thank you to Brian and company for letting the late, great Buck Owens sing with you on this song. I still have to ask why you didn't release this song to radio.
Had this on my favorites, then it dropped off. This is the first song by the Derailers that I'd heard. It is now back on my favorites list. Thank you for putting it back.
that tony sure has alot of buck owens in him. glad he got to duet.....my mama said she heard buck and i said that it wasn't. she told me "don't even try to tell me what buck owens sounds like!" well, it was tony! go man! wherever you are. xoxo.
Buck Owens sings at 2:16 ....incredible ...Buck sounds awesome on this recording! what a great song...this song should have been a # 1 record....todays music can't hold a candle to this....Long live the Bakersfield sound!!!
that has got to be one of the best songs ever written it is so smooth the derailers are true country most artists today cant hold a candle to the old style country and the steel player is so smooth thanks for such a great post i can listen to the true classics like this all day

@bassingal89 Thanks. Unfortunately, the whining steel isn't something you hear in Country Music nowadays...

I have adored the Derailers ever since I saw them live at Bumbershoot several years. I don't have a lot of mobility left but I could not stop dancing!
Thanks for posting this.
