they're totally goofing here with each othere. Probably warming up or something. Compare to the studio version on "Meet the Beatles". They were serious there. Anybody who knows anything about the band knows they were dynamite, even without studio enhancement. How many people posting here ever saw them live as a group or any of them individually as solos? I have done both. I SAW THE BEATLES. Have seen them individually too....they are/were AWESOME..always will be.
He stood absolutely no chance against John or paul.
and he isn't singing because he was brought to the sessions to play organ, since it should be recorded with live feeling without overdubs and to lessen the friction in the band, not to sing.
He was there to do what they wanted him to do.
Nothing more and nothing less, not to get any musical input into it.
@OropherThranduil Of course he was paid to play the organ, that was his job with the Beatles, I know that. But he was still a far superior singer than any of them. John nor Paul has ever put down a vocal as great as Preston's "Thats The Way God Planned It". Neither had his vocal range.
@OropherThranduil "average motown acts'? Man the janitors at Motown sang better than these guys. Billy Preston with strep throat and laryngitis sang better.
@mechrissiedavids Oh George was really stoned during the Let it Be sessions. Listen to his song 'For you blue' on the album and he's ultra stoned, giggling during solos and slurring his words.
wow, this vid is totally amazing! I swear I felt like i was right there with them as I watched. It was like 2:33 minutes in heaven for me.. it was that amazing.. :]
George Harrison is a marvel of bone structure, I simply must do a sculpture of him one day...

@superman11978 what happened here is they started the song in a different key than they originallly recorded it in years earlier and no one said hey its the wrong key they just rolled with it,,,IF they had started it on the right key this video would have been magical
good chance they were, but when your the beatles. . it really doesnt matter. regardless of the drugs, they created amazing music. Music so good, people have still not been able to let go of it, 40+ years later. . .
@gloria7994 As a matter of fact, it is quite likely that they were on drugs. It is a testament to the magic of mixing in the studio that they were able to produce an album as good as "Abbey Road."
As for "sucking," I can tell you, in concert, they DID suck. I was a witness on Aug. 21, 1966 in Cincinnati. Here's link to some of that footage. Actual sound from that day comes late in the vid, and is brief, thankfully.
@StvMcQueen1 I think they acknowledged themselves that their live performances suffered, especially during the '66 tour, partly due to their own disinterest (coupled with the fact that no one would have been able to hear them over the screaming fangirls). By that point, the concerts were a charade more than anything.
@TyLerDurDen2333 Yes, I know, I said as much in my comment. They realized how much their music was suffering because of touring, so they stopped touring and went back to the studio, where they could focus more on their playing/songwriting versus the obligations of their fame.
well, sorry, i got, like some others i think also, every available source of their last US tour, and they rock ,especially trhe last concert in san francisco, they never sucked, even while playing in concert hell they rocked out, i think you think they sucked because you couldn't hear them, like bruce kulick put it, who saw their 66 show at shea, he could barely hear out two songs they played, but from what he could hear they rocked.
@OropherThranduil You are quite right about not hearing the music. The "sound systems" of yesteryear left much to be desired. @gloria7994 I don't think it will let me post the link here. It's easy to find in a search, because whoever posted it misspelled "Cincinnati." Search for THE BEATLES CINCINNATTI YouTube. You'll find it.
Hey folks, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles did this song, and it's release was November 1962. John Lennon always said he could NEVER duplicate Smokey Robinson's stuff, although he tried. The Beatles version is also featured in the Beatles Let it Be movie, which to this date, to the best of my knowledge, still hasnt been released on DVD.
Aw, your welcome :) Though, I'm sure George can do a better job of cheering you up :P You seen his video for 'Any Road'? Has me smirking every time ;)
Back in the time this film was being filmed it was going to be called 'Get Back' because the Beatles were 'getting back' to simple unedited, not overdubbed music (Phil Spector fucked that up), which was so prominent in Sgt Peppers. Because of this, it is still referred to by many as the 'Get Back sessions'.
@dakizz......the album was gonna be called Get Back. Which it was, but never released in the US, but I do have a bootleg of it. And for the most part, I agree with John Lennon. Spector took an awful piece of shit (the Let it Be album) and turned it into a beautiful piece of shit. Kinda a backwards comment, be he knew a lot better than me of course. Although I personally think Spector destroyed "The Long & Winding Road" by adding all those soupy strings and orchestral shit.
@Kenoman29 Hi I agree with the strings though it is hard to imagine the song without them. I believe at the time that Paul was less than impressed also. Phil loved his famous '[wall of sound' thing so much he couldn't see past it at all, even though truthfully the Beatles were always looking for new sounds and ideas
dude chill its just one of their laidback jam sessions they had u can see in the beggining they werent expecting to play it until george does the opening melody

this is such a beautiful little clip. i love 1:27 when george sort of takes the song into his own hands for a second. he seems to remember the lyrics better than john does.
i love how george seems to be looking at john with such love and patience, trying to remind him of the lyrics; johns talent oozes but he is goofing around a little, one foot out the door already: not at 00:53 however where he just blows me away with that voice...
George doesn't seem to know what he's doing....<3 <3 <3

Paul sang everything from Yesterday/Blackbird to helter Skelter Oh darling.

OOOOooooooooo I love them madly, they really have a hold on me...My hearts so sad now, I know their gone now, but they really have a hold on me. OOOOOooooooo Don't want to kiss you, but I do miss you.... You really had a hold on me. I want to split now but just can't quit now, they really have a hold on me.....really have a hold on me. *bows

this is such a beautiful little clip. i love 1:27 when george sort of takes the song into his own hands for a second. he seems to remember the lyrics better than john does.
god, i love george so much.

i love how george seems to be looking at john with such love and patience, trying to remind him of the lyrics; johns talent oozes but he is goofing around a little, one foot out the door already: not at 00:53 however where he just blows me away with that voice...

Just love that interraction between John and George. God bless them. Wish they were still here
