The dog, on a 5m chain at the time, was seized by council officers shortly after the attack and was due to be put down yesterday. Two other dogs, of similar breed, remained at the property.
Sergeant Cam Taylor said the girl's parents were extremely distressed when he arrived.
"They were very upset. The mother was very shaken up and crying."
On Wednesday, a 3-year-old boy was badly bitten on the throat by a doberman-staffordshire-bull terrier.

The media are full of examples of pitbulls attacking their owners and small children. Of course pitbulls are aggressive because of humans: the breed was BRED by humans to be aggressive, hence the name. I don't need to own one to know this. What's wrong with getting a labrador or a German shepherd?

@swimrobin The pitbull in the video happens to be the sweetest dog I've ever owned and I've owned plenty. I used to obedience train golden retreivers (one of those "less aggressive" breeds) and have owned three of those in the past. Although I loved all of my dogs, this pitbull mix is the gentlest baby of the bunch. Don't make judgements when you have no idea what you are saying. How many pitbulls do you own that you are such an authority?

@AndrewCDoom Thanks for your support. I just hate when people judge an entire breed based on a few isolated instances. Their ignorance is what contributes to the negative perception of this most loyal and loving breed.
@swimrobin what are you doing, being so POORLY informed? I beleive humans have done far more damage than pit bulls, the only reason pit bulls are aggresive at all is BECAUSE of humans. If anyone should be put down, its you.

A dog has to be trained to be vicious, they are not naturally so. I am an experienced trainer/ Blame the deed not the breed. Educate yourself!

That diller wouldnt have been able to latch on to that dog or anything.. most damage the dog couldve gotten is one of several diseases the armadillo is know to transmit.
