This blew my mind into the smallest piece, pure expression, the man is literally possessed by his art. Thank you for the upload, I've never been so engrossed by emotion from a mere video. This is incredible.
He really disappointed me last night @ Paradiso. No guitar, or other psychedelic atmosphere and sound fx, just a too long sounding tone and a sequenced electronic bassriff.. Something completely different as in performances like this one :(
tonight @ Explosions in the sky opening in Paris, I missed the guitar... because only noisy noise wasn't good for this kind of venue... and people (as I) didn't understood the vibes very well... and it was not as powerful as THIS ! sadly...
tonight @ Paris, Explosions in the sky opening, I missed the guitar... cause just noisy noise was not good for this kind of venue... and people (as I) didn't understood the vibes very well.. sadly
Saw him with OM in S.F. It was the greatest musical experience I have ever had. I shook his hand after and was surprised at how humble and soft spoken he was.
i heard all my 90 day men recs few mins ago; listening to great music and actually following roberts music. be aware to listen all his very rare cdr and cs hes releasing..always great to hear..special music.great musician...thy for these
Saw OM, SOOA, and Lichens last night in Boston at the ICA. What song was Lichens playing? Easily best show of the night. OM rocked, but SOOA seemed like the drummer was having a hard time :\
God I cant stop watching this, Lowe is pouring his whole soul into this performance! It hurts to know that he performs and his epic soundscapes are not recorded...improv only.
Saw Lichens (aka Robert Lowe) open up for Boredoms on 9/9/09, & I have to admit that he was a really pleasant surprise. I recognized him from TV on the Radio, but had no idea what a talented man he was. Absolutely could hear a pin drop until he finished, then the crowd erupted with applause. Enthralling.
Sorry to be a cliche'd artist but... you guys are fucking philistines! This has got to be the best video on youtube, you can actually hear this guys soul bursting out of his lungs
saw him twice. the first time i fought his pain and didn't understand him. two nights later i went into his pain and nearly cried. this guy is one of the most profound performers i've ever seen. just imagine being that emotionally naked in front of a roomful of strangers. he's one brave mofo.
Actually you can now say what a show it will be. He's playing with OM in S.F Sept 24th at the Independant. This show will be epic, not one to miss. Plus its only $15.
Yep, I just found out that he's playing with both Om and Six Organs Of Admittance in Atlanta on Oct. 17th at The Earl. Let's just say it didn't take me long to decide to get tickets.
saw him opening for Russian Circles in GR a couple months ago. never had heard of him before, and didn't know what to expect. i was blown away once he really starting going.
i was told his cds don't really do his live performance justice, which is disappointing.
this, however... i think i will try and rip into audio to put on my ipod. it's just as good as what i saw live.
saw him open for russian cirlces in nj a couple months ago. absolutely mind blowing. he's also very willing to talk to people after the show. what a down-to-earth guy.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I also saw him open for Bonnie "Prince" Billy but, unlike most apparently, I thought it was the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my entire life. The very definition of "bad art."
Oh my god! I've been looking for this dude for ages! I saw him open for Devendra in September last year, and I couldn't for the life of me find him anywhere online...thank you for having this!!
this guy is unreal. he has some serious talent. when i listened to this i didn't watch the video and i just felt like the earth itself was trying to speak to me.
Man ive been a fan of Rob lowe for years, hes married to my friends sister. awesome musician , awesome guy. ihope some day his albums become collectors item since ther so rare.
Saw him open for explosions in the sky last night in Charleston, SC. Does anyone know whether or not he has a website? I want to get some recordings of his.
had the opportunity to talk to him after the providence show. a great guy! we talked for a while and he gave me a discount on a vinyl of his. what an amazing musician, one of the greatest improvisers of the 21st century so far. such a lovely and inspirational character!
you can't go too long with music like this. it's introverted. he rarely plays the same thing twice. the sound is literally what robert is feeling. he is painting a canvas with music. and no matter how long it takes, it is all about the final outcome
Totally.. I've seen EITS a couple times now and this was by far the most incredible, energetic performance. They said this was their largest show yet where they were the headliners, so I think they were just totally stoked and on fire.
Robert Lowe a.k.a. Lichens was great too. I bought his CDs after the show.
Just saw him open for Explosions in providence, wow. Had never heard of lichens figured it was a band w/ a similar sound to EITS.... then one dude walked out sat down and blew my mind for 25 min. great stuff.
I also saw him sunday night in milwaukee. I was really impressed...for the first 15 minutes. it just got too long for me. And I understand that it was improvised, but it was a little too repetitive... however the loop effect was really cool. it just went on and on and on. i guess i just wasn't prepared for something like that. he was an amazing musician though.
He was at the march booth for a bit before he played, I talked to him...super nice guy wouldn't have been able to recognize that was him without this video. Oh and Explosions rocked it hard! First time seeing them too.
I don't say this too often but that was the best concert I ever saw...gave me chills.
I likewise just saw him in Milwaukee on Sunday night opening for Explosions. Needless to say, I was amazed by both bands.
I talked to this guy afterwards and asked him what the name of the song he played was, and which cd it was available on and his response was: "You will never hear the song I played tonight ever again. Everything is improve"
So in other words, you will probably never find this song anywhere else but here.
i saw him last week with explosions in the sky. as he sat down and looked at the audience, i knew from his smile that he had something special to show us all. i was not disappointed. he delivered a very powerful performance that easily grasped everyone's attention. this guy has crazy talent.
im more partial to 11:50 when you can see the lights in his eyes, like an animal, its so captivating and intense. hands down one the best youtube videos i have ever watched.
Now that is an absolutely sublime performance right there. Quite scary too. Recently the Psychic Nature of Being LP was released via Holy Mountain. It still remains my favourite release so far by Lichens.
he has the same incredible tact as charalambides to turn outwardly simple folk structures into positively epic mind expanding emotional landscapes. only if I might say he actually has (or at least exhibits) more skill than charalambides in his fingerpicking.
