no way is this the best catch ever..its a joke cos for starters tubs shouldve taken it clean. He dropped it n then it was more of a desperate last ditch effort with the kick than "skill" n luckily for him it went straight up
It definitely will make the highlight reel because of the entertainment/blooper factor but was an incredibly lucky catch
@siddhuiitb I'd agree with this, catching off anything that can be seen as 'protective equipment' should be not out
"The batsman can not be given out caught if the ball strikes a helmet (or other external protective equipment excluding a keeper wearing gloves or pads) worn by a member of the fielding side prior to being caught, regardless of whether it touches the ground or not."
Lol, Bevan appeals straightaway and then sees the umpire not giving it and in the meanwhile misses the real action and then sees the umpire giving it and then turns back for the mandatory huddle ritual. Anyways, TBH, I thought it was no edge but came of Hooper's pad.
I remember that there was a Wide World of Sports commemorative piece produced and flogged off after this catch. He simply dropped what should have been a simple catch and happened to be lucky.
I reckon Bevan could have played more tests than he did..
Don't you find it strange that if the ball comes in contact with the cap once it's off the fielder's head,it constitutes 5 penalty runs but if it touches the cap/hat when it's on the player as it did on this occasion,it's not a problem..
These are great Rob. I love that fact that you include the commentary "after the event", because you never get those on the usual highlights videos. :)
@robertosteiner AGREE!!! I try when I can to include the next bit showing different slow mo replays and more commentary, you only get it on very extended highlights or live footage.
Surely not the best catch. He rather spilled the easiest catch ever. But these kind of moments make cricket a lovely game to watch. <3

the ball also hits the hat of the fielder when he was trying to catch for 1st time. Is it allowed? surely not allowed in case it was helmet.

@siddhuiitb as long as it didnt hit the ground

I have seen another drop by Mark Taylor where he tries to use his feet to knock the ball up. I'm not sure if this is before or after this one though.

PPFFFTTT, i've done a better catch before. I dived around 10meters and the ball hit my hands, then bounced of my knee and i caught it

Tubby was a brilliant slipper, but this was an absolute fluke.
I don't think he denies that it was a fluke either.
