  • Still my favourite childhood movie, somewhat sad to see that since I've grown up consumerism and greed grew along with me, while the creativity seen in this movie has nearly disappeared. The animation and artwork in this movie still amazes me as to how good it is, the musical numbers are brilliant, the dialogue while light and for children doesn't bore you to death with clichés or flanderization.

  • ..So..do you think Crysta ended up with Pip..? Or do they all just stay friends, cause seriously, Pip is a babe ;)

  • @Rock6397 haha i was thinking the same thing xD

  • for our children and children's children

  • Half the movie is missing?

  • avatar is fern gully on steroids. and fern gully is better!

  • This came before avatar people. and much better done I must say. If you are going to compare the two, compare avatar to ferngully

  • k is it just me or does hexus remind you of drake off of "pebble penguin"

  • @101brittzo1 Well, they're both played by the same voice actor, Tim Curry. So yeah, he does remind me of Drake. XD

  • I swear if I read one more thing about Avatar I am going to scream! They are not "one and the same" like you all are trying to make it out to be. If you like Avatar so much, then go comment on THAT video!

  • Fantastic animated movie, i enjoyed it since i was 10 when i saw in theaters and enjoyed it, Crysta gave me a boner and still does. Oh man her and Elinore from Wizards are the two hottest toon fairies i would bone

  • Just a question. Where is the battle scene there they defaeted Hexxus. It is missing and its one of the best parts of the movie.

  • Avatar

  • @zinlinoo

Yes Avatar is a combination of this movie and the 1973 French-Czech adult animated Sci-fi fantasy epic "Fantastic Planet" which you should check out here on youtube and you'll see why it also inspired Cameron for his Avatar movie.

  • <33333

  • I bet Hexxus is extremely pissed about being in another goddamn tree.

  • Based on a true story: Zach became one of the leading save the rain-forest activist, to this day people still think he's insane as he chains himself to trees and talks about protecting the fairies within!

  • I did like the movie, it was very good and Robin Williams was funny as Batty

  • Another beautiful animation movie with a good moral.

  • @Shadowsonic6600

Indeed! have you seen Wizards by Ralph Bakshi or Ghibli's movies? they offer the same moral.

  • I cant belive I've dodged this movie for so long.

  • I havent see this movie for long. I remember it some scene most of the time. Some of those fairies that live on this rainforst. I think that Crysta is that girl I use to had a crush with when I was a kid that I have a crush love to Sailor Moon, she is very sexy and her barefeet. That what women are. :) CRYSTA IS SEXY!! This is what cartoon is about.

  • @XJohnEcchiFan91X

Oh man i had a crush on Sailor Moon when i was a teenager watching Toonami at age 16, Crysta i had a crush on as a 10 year old seeing this 2 times in theaters. Have you seen Wizards (1977)? there's a movie with a hot fairy chick that is half-naked and rivals Crysta.

  • The animation in this movie is not bad, but i notice that some characters are drawn realilistic (Zach, Chrysta, Pips) but others have cartoon proportions (Zach's coworkers, Chrysta's father). I don't like the inconsistancy. It should be one way or the other.

  • 12 dislikes??! i mean wtf?! who would ever dislike this beautiful video??!

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!! :)

  • WHY WONT ZAK FREAKING STAY OMG I HATE IT WHEN MOVIES END LIKE THAT IT CAN NEVER BE HAPPY WHEN THEY'RE APARTTT

  • Tim Curry odvously enjoys being a villain rather than a hero, right?

  • How is it possible that a movie so similar to Avatar and yet made so much cheaper can give me a more profound respect for nature?

    Ha. Take that James Cameron.

  • @Lukyo1984

avatar gave me the reverence towards nature too

  • @kevin080592 Ok . . . was there a point?

  • @Lukyo1984

sure there is..its called, interracial marriage

  • @kevin080592

What about Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke, Pom Poko, Castle in The Sky, Last of the Mohicans etc.? those are also like Avatar.

  • @Lukyo1984 Ferngully is not similar to Avatar, Avatar is similar to Ferngully.

  • @KayoriAyane

Do you also think Avatar is also similar to Princess Mononoke, Dune, Star Wars, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Wizards, Fantastic Planet, Lightyears (aka Gandahar), Last of the Mohicans, Willow, Pom Poko, Castle in The Sky, MY Neighbor Totoro, etc.?

  • @Lukyo1984 Because this was made for the love of the planet, not to satisfy someone's greed.

  • @Lukyo1984

    Except Avatar is for adults.

  • @Lukyo1984 Straight up.

  • Wakes up. "What the hell just happened? Hey guys give me a sec and I'll fix the machine!"

  • why are there 2 part 6's, I was so confused

  • @ChewbaccaTheMustafa true very true :)

  • I completely forgot how amazing this movie was!

  • but have we learned? sadly no... humans will never change... not on earth anyways... only in our dreams..

  • I LOVE PIPS

  • @Pips8710000

    I LOVE PIPS TOO!!! 8D

  • at the end of the book Pips and Crysta kissed I'm dissappointed they didn't in the movie D:

though i still love it :)

  • best freakin movie ever!

  • What song is called at the end of it I love that song

  • Aww, you skipped the best part..

    Huh, oh well. I

  • that last thing, "for our children and our children's children" really got to me. i hate it that the rainforests are all being cut down, but there really is nothing i can do to stop it. it makes me really sad...

  • and just like that, the entire rainforest was rebuilt! or grown...or...whatever.

  • @ChewbaccaTheMustafa >^.^< im gonna die from laughing its too true! i would like to be in that prison (you know if i was in jail, and i had a choice) such a pretty, lonesome jail cell!

  • it seems to me tat hexxus now is at the gulf of mexico =(

  • the title should say part 8

  • lol how i luv my childhood

  • Crysta's so pretty! And this movie has such a good meaning.

    Forgive us...Earth.

  • Do you have part seven, anyone tell me where it is ? ANYONE PLEASE!

  • It's in the "Suggestions" column

  • @Corzoko Hrmm, i can't find it :/ i found another one soooo... thanks for bothering to reply anyways :)

  • Pips was my favourite; what girl fairy wouldn't want him? He's fun, protective and caring. The type of guy I'd want.

  • it one if these kinda movies: the guys with the "bad people", ´he somehow gets in to her world. they meet, and he lies about beeing bad. she show him her world, they fall in love. the "bad people" come. the girl find out hes bad. then he saves the day and gets the girl.. it´s nok like i dont like the movie, i really do, but its really predictable XD

  • umm, there's a whole part that got skipped. I'm now confused. I remeber it all, but still!! ACH!!

  • :)

    ^^

  • this movie makes me cry. I wish mother nature could fight back

  • for our children, and our children's children.

A awesome message for people to care about thier enviorment for the plants and animals gives us life. This movie needs to be see more often!

  • This movie really is something.

You can't find anything with true meaning anymore. We're beginning to forget the deeper messages; I really pity newer generations.

  • um. im not being mean or anything..but wheres the part between you pt 6's. its a little confusing cause they were running away from the machine....then they were making flowers grow...mm dont the fight the oil guy?

thanx for uploading the movie btw. ^ ^ its really good.

  • There are two movies labeled "pt 6". The one that is 10:00 minutes long is the real part 6. This part is actually part 8, the end of the movie.

Part 7 exists, uploaded by Perfect Suxx in which they -do- fight Hexxus.

  • nwl only has up to when magis power is release, then this. it cuts out a bit.

  • Man if only there wasn't worry about humans destroying the forest, Zak and Crista could have been together, DANG IT!!!!

  • here here!

  • OwenMick88

This movie came out in 1992, Avatar came out in 2009. Avatar copied this movie. If this movie was never made, there would not have been an Avatar. Ferngully will always be the greatest movie ever about us destroying nature and how we need to take care of it.

  • excuse me i highly doubt james cameron even watched fern gully because he was still an adult when this came out

    i think xD

  • @SpeshulEmmilee

He was actually inspired by 1973's cult French-Czech adult animated Sci-fi fantasy epic "Fantastic Planet" which is an awesome animated classic that is one of his favorites and if you watch that masterpiece here on youtube. There's similarities like a weird planet, bizarre creatures, giant blue alien humanoids, humans battling against the aliens, strange forests and of course mystic trees.

  • haha x 10 :P

plus the director must have seen ferngully before he went to bed to go on dreaming about Avatar, because the movie is based on a really vivid dream he had, I've heard^^

  • @kalarr1389

He was also inspired by Last of the Mohicans, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (Warriors of the Wind) and other Ghibli stuff, Star Wars Trilogy, Dune, Heavy Metal, Wizards, Dune etc.

  • @B0URN3S0LD13R92

Don't forget Cameron also borrowed from Broken Arrow (1950 James Stewart western movie), Studio Ghibli stuff like Princess Mononoke, Dune, Star Wars, Star Trek 6, Enemy Mine, Willow etc. and do you find Ferngully similar to Mononoke as well?

  • Even after all these years, this movie still has a spark. amazing, 10 stars!

  • this would better, if they show this again. taking care of our nature.

  • Yeah like in bonus content in the DVD edition of AVATAR, or maybe just a re-release in theaters and remastered just like Star Wars 1978 (or 77).

  • i love fern gully

  • i truly love when pips looks at the tree i just love him

  • the princess and the frog reminds me

of fern gully the last rain forest

    1992 - 2009

  • @ShadowDragonFilms

You know your right, it does at times.

  • This is supposed to be part 8 not part 6 redo the title.

  • Alot of the movies missing

  • watch pt 7 then pt 6, should fill in the gap, somehow got reversed apparently

  • @katieh999 there are 2 pt 6 movies from nwl23....the first is like 10:00 long and the last movie of Fern Gully is this one....I don't know why they called is pt 6, it makes it very confusing :S

  • none are missing. nwl's got all of them. I watched the entire thing

    :)

  • Skipped 10-20 minutes of the film!!!! Grr

  • Don't know what you're talking about...nwl23 has all of the movies...they just have another pt 6 and then they have the regular pt 1 pt2 pt3 pt4 and pt5. I just watched the entire movie for the first time.

  • @kalarr1389

    "Gasp!" Saaaame n_n

I really loved this movie. Gotta be one of my new favorites

...Do you think Zak made it home? lol =_=

  • dang, I sure hope so. I wanna meet up with him~<3<3 :)

It's so sad that e didn't end up with Crista! They would have been SUCH a cute couple! Besides...the fairy that was jealous of Zak I don't like as much - he's too absorbed in himself haha :S

  • Haha~! XD

Yeah... That kinda annoyed me that they didn't end up together.

Pips? I liked him LOL I like Zak better though \^^/ Woo!

  • do they ever meet again later?

  • I just realized something. Why was everybody's light was green, except for Crysta's?

  • Most likely because she was Magi's apprentice. Or it could be character identification; everyone but the most important character has a normal light trail. But I think it's the former.

  • Or one lampshading the other.

  • Because she had the power of growing things or something like that. Crystal had it too later

  • You skipped a major part of the movie man!

  • none is missing. I've got to have said this like 6 times nao ;P

  • its about the daintree rainforest in far north queensland in australia... notice all the australian animals, and i know this coz i happen to live in far north QLD... the cartoon doesnt do the real forest justice, its just so amazingly beautiful.

  • is actually set in ferngully just outside mt warning in NSW :P even says it in movie :P and yes it is a real place

  • wait so they really don't end up together??? *starts to cry* well that stinks!! he shud have went to being human, but been able to return and turn in to a fairy if you ask me!

  • Wheres the rest?

  • in nwl23's archives....there's pt1 pt2 pt3 pt4 pt5 and ANOTHER pt6 to watch before this :S

  • Comment removed

  • Kinda defeats the point doesn't it.

And when hexus was sealed I kinda got a sleepy hollow vibe.

  • if Ferngully wasn't fictional, it Should be a Reserved rain forest

  • I remember this film.... hey, who's the guy with the red hair that pops up at 0:47?

  • That's Crysta's annoying friend.

  • Pips

  • Pips, who appears to be very jealous of Zak because he's 'stealing' Crysta away. XD poor Pips. He gets her back at the end though.

  • @FinalFallenFantasy you just ruined it for me....

  • @containsmediumpeople Oh damn sorry! D:

  • His name is Pips (pronounced "peeps" ).

  • why? why not "pips"?

  • aww i wish they could have stayed together!!

    i love this movie

  • amazing movie.

  • the seventh part is labeled the fight with hexus. go back to part 5 and its under related video

  • where?

  • Under related videos.

  • The best part of the movie is cut, what a travesty!

  • Woah dude you missed out a HUGE part of the film. I had the original tape somewhere and I know this is not the complete thing xD

  • nwl also has the rest. there are 2 pt 6 movies from nwl23....the first is like 10:00 long and the last movie of Fern Gully is this one....I don't know why they called is pt 6, it makes it very confusing :S

  • hawl ah fuckin looked everywhere for this movie to see wot happened to hexxus and u fuckin cut a huge part of out tht misses wot happens to him u stupid asshole!!!!

  • Heres most of the big cut out part : FernGully - The fight with Hexxus!

  • So Crysta and Pips are inlove? They fly off together...but she spent most of the movie kanoodling with Zack!! lol

  • In number 2 Pips gets all googly eyed over a 13 year old..

  • kinda missed the whole pont huh?

  • I get the film's message, but I'm not sure it's truly in line with reality. The competition for survival on Earth is brutal. This is a planet filled with powerful, violent predators, any number of which could open a human body from end to end. Yet it is homo sapiens, with his weak jaw and soft, unarmored flesh, who rules.

Perhaps that explains the odd, disconnected human attitude toward the rest of nature. Some creatures we cherish and pamper. Some we use. Others are annihilated.

  • And yet it would seem that we would only hunt animals that threaten humans, and not utterly harmless animals like whales. And to kill for pleasure is only something a monster would do.

We are perhaps not the ones to judge human habits. My understanding of evolution is that we began as hunter-gatherers. We never had the option of simply grazing.

    Lock and load.

  • Yes, not venting that instict leads us to become frustrated and take it out on others, or even other animals for sport.

In a few years, with adaptations to the Neural Impulse Actuator, we shall be able to experience virtual reality as though it is actual reality, Thus dealing with those urges without risk to ourselves, or real animals.

  • That's crazy talk. Do you really want someone monkeying around with your brain? What if someone hacked that thing and controlled you like a puppet?

  • I prefer to load and than lock.......... I like a round in the chamber.

  • what a great movie.

  • Ahhhh, memories. I was nuts about this film when I was a kid. I still find it charming somehow, even fascinating. And I really wanna climb the giant tree at the end, even though I'm afraid of heights. It just seems like a fun idea.

  • i love ferngully, i remember watching it growing up^-^ its so awesome and has a strong message that hasnt changed even today. in fact, the message seems to be even more important the more advanced the world gets with technology and polution. and its got funny characters like batty ^-^

  • hmm i wonder why i've always love the rainforest as a kid lol...this was one of the first films i saw lol.

  • See ya later, Zak.

  • It just blows me away, the meaningfullness, of all the old movies

  • Sad thing is today's filmmakers don't embrace such beautiful things as that.

  • yeah, they focus more on the movie's graphics than on the movie's message.

  • robin williams FTW!

  • Wow!! This brings lots of memories! i saw this movie like one million times when i was a kid!! :)....

still one of my favourites, thanks for posting it!! :D

  • you skiped a huge part

  • First 45 seconds = Pure nutrition for the imagination!!! That scene used to enchant me sooooo much as a little girl! What a beautiful movie this still is. :D

  • Batty's my favourite :)

  • Best Film Ever!

  • the ultimate go green movie...

  • i cant remember the title of a movie but i cant find it its about a boy who turns into a cartoon and 3 books a book of horror and a book of adventure and a book of fairy tail can anyone help me i realy want to find it =(??

  • Hey i'm not sure but i think you might be thinking of "The Pagemaster" (1994).. :)

  • yup its the pagemaster

  • The Pagemaster. One of my favorites!

  • BEAUTIFUL and great final messege!

  • I think the movie is about like its ok to use our resources, but don't like usurp it all until its gone. Trees can be replanted and they should be, instead of leaving a logged forest to turn into a desert. Its cool that now alot of logging companies plant like 4 seeds per trees they cut down. I mean that is their money source, why not keep it going? For our sakes and theirs

  • what happened to the rest of the movie? I watched pt 5 then clicked on this and suddenly its at the end? thanks for uploading it btw but I want to see it all?

  • there are two part 6's find the other one. it's the real part 6

  • Its a cartoon which goes well with kids taste and completely educational as well. It teaches children the importance of protecting nature, forgiveness to others and repentance for mistakes. Cartoons like these contribute to making our next generation to be better people.

My eyes were watering when Majie passed away ='(

  • So true, and I tend to think alot of cartoons now a days have no real message, and its all just for entertainment's sake--fastest, coolest, most action packed with best graphics etc etc etc. Walle was one of the rare exceptions

  • Really? I haven't seen it, Ill go watch it tomorrow since its my day off ^_^

  • what's wrong with entertainment for entertainment sake? That's what old WB cartoons did and Tom and Jerry and such. It's just no one has talent anymore. A message can't make up for talent.

The only talent I see in this movie is the very beginning when they are telling the story of hexxus and who ever the animator was for batty. Crysta was completely ripped off from someone who watched too many Don Bluth movies and Little mermaid over and over again.

  • Aw, kit, not everyone thinks that way.

Why do you say such things? If you don't like the movie, then just don't watch it. Personally, I believe it has talent. I see lots of it. It's funny and inspiring. And it has Batty.

And 'entertainment for entertainment's sake' is an entirely different category. This is an inspiring film. Tom and Jerry (Before you say anything, I love those idiots) is stupid and hillarious, for just that prupose.

    See the difference in mind?

    Ta, kit!

  • I didn't say I didn't like the movie. it is a good story much more thought out then what comes out today. I actually applaud this movie for taking a dark and grotesque stance to the characters Hexx and Batty. But I'm not going to pretend that I was not distracted by poor drawings either.

  • Ah. Forgive me then, I had no thought that you had responded. In simply format, it only looked like you were raking your claws over it or crashing your horns into its belly. I resend my comment, I think. And I thought you were referring to plotline talent. You may be, but I can't tell anymore. I think now, you're only hissing at the drawings. That's different than what I was thinkiing. Gomen.
