I've had Polk systems for about 10 years and even converted the car audio to all Polk. I just recently switched to Klipsch Reference speakers and though the Polk have a warmer sound, I like Klipsche better. There is no substitute for the horn.
I was under the impression the the "horn" tweeter is actually a type of hybrid combining a traditional metal dome tweeter housed in a horn, as opposed to a true horn speaker such as in a megaphone.
I think you will find that horn LOL is actually what many Klipsch owners like. Ya know, that Klipsch sound? Also I can understand why some people describe the sound as "bright" but I wouldn't describe them as "harsh".
wow these speakers where not design to be full range this guy needs to set the processor or receiver to 80hz not full range all you are hearing is distortion get a subwoofer to handle the 80hz and below
the distortion you're hearing is from the camera microphone itself. these speakers are full range, ~32hz-20000hz, and you wouldn't need a subwoofer unless you had the cash to drop
well actually 32hz-20000hz is not considered full range by any meas. If the guy had enough for the RFs I'm sure he had enough for a sub. It's just that most set their crossover wrong.

I don't get why people think it's so cool when a speaker moves. I mean, it's what they do. It's nothing special.
As stated in a comment earlier, it's not good when a speaker has to move that much. My Definitive Technology speakers (with 15" subs built into each one) BARELY move, it's almost not noticeable... BUT! They create some of the best bass you will ever hear. Extreme lows beyond belief.
Anyways, check out my video to see them. THOSE are REAL speakers. Not Klipsch junk.
what!? no no no dude...klipsch is actually the number 1 brand of florstanding loudspeakers there is...nothing comes close to the pure sound quality....bose isnt even half as good as klipsch is....dont call it junk!
Klipsch may be rated high in sales, but that's because they make low cost speakers that anyone can buy. Which is good, I suppose. But, to me they just sound too harsh. Just my opinion. If they lose the horn, and go with a traditional tweeter system, I think they would sound much better.
its good you agree...bose is not that brea5t if you look at them closly or listen i should say...but klipsch's higher modles that go for over 6000 a pair sound fantastic...i guess they make the more cheaper ones to spread their products further and faster.
I'm not saying Klipsch is complete junk... I'm just saying that MOST of their speakers, minus the Klipshorn and higher end stuff, is overrated. They are too commercial for me. They are made for the masses.
Again, I just think that the horn needs to go. People think that because the highs are louder, and seem "crisper"... It makes it a better speaker.
@Site4Animation so witch would you prefer cause im upgrading to a 5.2 system from my old Mini Hifi system Im thinking about getting Klipsch Quintet 5 With the Polk Audio PSW110 Subwoofer or should i go for Polk Speakers and A Klipsch sub i want crisp clear highs and warm mids with warm punchy lows
I would get some Polk floor speakers... Depends on how much you want to spend. Maybe some Monitor 50, 60 or 70s... Pretty nice sound, and not too expensive. They look nice too. Unless you don't want something that big... Then get the Klipsch bookshelf system.
well i already got some towers i got some old Vintage KLH Model 120 Towers With A 12" woofer They sound out standing i just need The Center The Backs And the Remote Cause the receiver is actually 7.2 But i don't have the room for that i cant fit more towers in there lol i need some good bookshelfs i want to spend less then 1G for the Speakers like maybe 800$ or maybe cheaper i want a system that comes in the box but its not a HITB system
What crossover settings? If you have a sub, you need to set the crossover setting higher. You'll have a cleaner sound and let the sub take over the lower frequencies. I have the klipsch klf20s (2 10's and horn mid and horn tweeter) The center klif7 has two 8's as do the surrounds. With a vel hgs18 sub. my crossover is set at 50hz and above
...its horribly distorted, do u not c what you are doing to the driver??speaker excursion is the last thing u want to have happen. the more a driver"moves" the more distortion it creates, idealy u would want a driver that" doesnt move at all", yet excites the air around it.This is the theory when you see home theatre set ups that have a speaker enclosure with about 30 maybe 40 drivers in it, its a line array, this enclosure deliver the best sound, mainly because the drive units move very little.
this video made me decide to get my klipsch system about a year ago. Been worth it ever since. And yes they do not distort at all!!!! And yes they move that much and more on certain clips.
Well technically they distort quite a bit. All speakers do. Excessive excursion certainly doesn't help any. The scary thing is that at very low frequency many highly respected woofers have very high distortion on the order of 20% to over 100%. (If the amplitude of a distortion component is greater than the fundamental, distortion is greater than 100%) Some larger DIY sub-woofers can get distortion to a few percent. Don't know of any commercial ones that can do that.
i've got their 2.1 thx computer speakers, incredible little system, the highs they pump out are so crisp and loud for their size. Had for 2 years, lots of high volume party nights to their credit. Never had any problems. No way you bought a klipsch sub for $100 bud
