The SS had a HO engine, the Xtreme was just appearance. You could order an Xtreme with a 4 cyl if you wanted.

@TyCloneSS You could get any S10 with the "HO" engine, its all just a matter of the options you get. The only difference is that with the SS it was a factory option whereas every other S10 its an upgrade. My 99 Xtreme has the "HO" motor. I say "HO" because its only a matter of 5-10 hp and torque. Dont really see the point in calling it an HO...

@99LSDyme Not entirely true. In 1995 you could get the L35 CPI "HO" engine in any truck as long as it was an automatic. The 5 speed manual trans meant you had to get the LB4 TBI engine.

Well I supercharged that truck back in 2000. I paid $2300 for a bolt on supercharger and drove the truck for 45,000 then unbolted the supercharger, sold it on ebay for $1800 and sold the truck. Cant say any of that with a V8! I have a V8 S10 as well. ALOT more money and ALOT more work. But much cooler.

2 V8 sbc =430+C.I. BBC=572 w/700+H.P with a warrenty! Top Fuel funny cars (currently) have V-8'S with 8000 F@cking HORSEPOWER!!!!! THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT!!

Im not trying to argue....but a GNX with a honda S2000 engine in it would not feel right....but that 572 in the S2000 would be FUN :) just sayin

Yeah a v6 may weigh less but build a 350 with aluminum heads and intake and it will weigh almost the same, put a supercharger on that and it will be making alot more power than the v6.

For one a v8 has more weight to it than the v6. Plus you can leave the stock efi and computer with the v6. Without having to spend the time, or money to get it rewired for the v8.

Also I have had good luck with superchrging my v6. It out runs a lot of v8 cars, and trucks for being a daily driver. Check out my vids.

are you saying that the extreme's were supercharged? they weren't, the extreme package was only an appearance and suspension package, no blower.

No no.....someone askd how much power an s10 had and someone rplyd to that, and i was jus rplyin 2 wat he said..but I eat sleep and breath S10's....the X was jus a body and suspensionn upgrade which was the same as the Zq8 minus the body kit. but the syclones back in the day came turbocharged!

oh, ok, when I saw the comments from watching the video I didn't see that. God I wish I had a syclone, I'd give up my 95 bird without hesitation for one. I had been thinking about s/c my sonoma, then I decided I'd just find an LT1 fbody, probably the best decision I've made.

I just got a 97 s-10 4.3L. every time I take off, both tires in the back spin. Is there something where there was a special posy traction from the factory in 97? was this a special order s-10 when they got it?

no none of them came stock posy unless it was a special order but it could just have a really good lim slip like mine does and it likes to spin both alot

They make bigger cams for the 4.3. Not to mention, the 4.3 is basically a 350 with 2 cylinders missing. If you have it bored .030 over, any .030 over pistons for a 350 will work. I've also heard they make performance heads for a 4.3.

@ariel4more they do makje a few heads, but none have been shown to flow much more than the stock heads with a little machine work for the lift (to my knowledge) GM did release a "bowtie" head, which is basically an aluminum vortec head if i'm not mistaken.

The supercharger was a Powerdyne. For what I wanted it was awesome. There were a few flaws in the kit, but for what I saved from not getting a Vortech, I loved it.
