@conrod001 Well... you can, but you'd be tugging the fly against the current on the retrieve and no self-respecting trout would touch it! You want bigger trout? The trick there is knowing where they are: in the big lakes they like to stay deep, but you'll get them up the feeder rivers and streams during the spawning season - many would argue that isn't really the time to be pulling them out!
Question, when ur using a lure do u also use a weight so as to cast out the lure because the lures them selves are to light to cast & if u do use a weight how far from the lure do u put it? i hope some one can answer my question as i would love to try lure fishing! thank...
@WOLFGANGER666 A lure is never too light to cast! Invariably, if you feel the lure is too light, it is because your tackle is too heavy: the rod and line need to fit to the lure. The lighter you can go with your tackle, the more you'll savour the scrap.
people always knock these fisherys cause they say its two easy and its stocked etc... i fly fish on rivers and lochs and stillwaters and have done for many years and hope to continue doing so... but the odd day visiting the likes of hampshires dever springs and avington and other big fish stalking waters in the south of england can be a very exiting experience, if ya dont like the idea of catching 20lb plus rainbows and browns well dont do it!! simple as that
ya i agree i think catching a wild brown is 10 times better than catching these manufactured fish. fun never the less especially for kids. keeps them off the streets. they seem to be a lot more sluggish as well compared to wild trout. To answer ur question 5 weight could be dodgey. u cudnt use big flies like that pike fly.
Brownies are way better fishing! Getting to walk the banks and find wild fish rising rather than fishing off stands makes the catch so much better plus fighing a brownies of around 2lb would be the same as an 8lb rainbow
True. Was a stupid comment by me as I have done a bit more fishing for rainbows in the past couple of months and they can fight but I would still prefer the brownies anyday.
That a nice fish , would be better if caught in wild but still good. and did he use that artificial bait which was used to feed them, with the fly, so dose that mean they lost their predatory instinct???
it takes a lot longer than a few years for trout to have lost it predatory instinct , but im sure some day englands great little farms will all become pools of pets but not for another 50 years, sad:{ cant beat wild fish there is 35pound wild trout ive cought them.
its not real fishing like that just putting a fly in a small pond with huge fish who are hungry :( A real fisher has to eval;uate the weather, type of hatching fly's etc this is fishing when you actually use your experience and instinct to catch wild trout :)
LOL its like shooting fish in a barrel. you cant beat a nice wild brownie or a sea trout. real fish that give a real fight. got a 2 lb sea trout two days ago fought for about five to ten minutes it was like fighting a salmon. fly fishing is the only way fuck the stockies
With thoes hatcheries they put big stupid non-wilf fish in a small area...you pay by the inch usually and they starve them. I have heard of people trowing hooks at them andthe fish biting just because there so used to seeing people by the shore feeding them. No sport
i never did try the fly fishing, but i know their is an art in it,you ever try the lagan?
caught a monster brownie on a worm in a lough, caught 2 pounders with the spinner on lough erne. 5 pounder in the lough i fished with worm though and float. i know there are bigger brownies but finding them in rivers are hard, maybe 2 pounder and a half i seen coming out of the lagan once by fly, going have to try it,you let them go again but wild brownies hard to get no matter what size in a river
check out lough ree in ireland, its probably the best lake in ireland. the corrib is good but ree is better. i fish it every sunday. great 4 pike and trout! once caught a 28, 1/2lb pike there
i fished many man made reservoirs lakes what have you some fish live there many years rainbow or brown before capture and fishing is exactly the same practically wild again once released and left so no i dont agree fishing is great in man made lakes and destinations
i can sometimes enjoy both methods the stockies dont half fight like wild fish sometimes especially resident wintered ones best is to go do both make sure you hear something good from people i go to stocked reservoirs i reckon catch a lot of both rainbow and brown that feel as thrilling as river
Catching large fish in stocked lakes isnt all easy, although he does make it look very easy. You'll find though that all Irishmen tend to generalise and 74% of all statistics quoted are made up.
Yeah, brown trouts are much more beautiful. just 2 days ago, I caught a 16" brownie which was far more than a pound. that was probably the biggest brownie I'll ever catch. They fight so much and they are so much more difficult to find. you really have to look for them. WOW, that was a truly amazing experience. Unfortunately, we only took pics but did not catch it on film.
GOd I would SO much rather go to one of those Irish spring creeks with nobody around and catch those tiny Browns/Brookies, than those 20 pound Rainbows in that fish tank.
nice video, but one thing. when you catch fish and she will be released your hands should be wet. Why? becouse fish has protection layer on skin and if you have dry hands you take her protection away and she would be exposed to infection. So be carefull. Thank you.
Wow, this video is absoloutely amazing! Fishing has always been a great interest of mine, but im not too good at it :)Great Video! thank you and keep up the good work! absoloutely beautiful :)
np problem...i only wish i had the skill and teqnique u guys had to catch fish like that but the thing is i dont fly fish and think it is way to hard to learn but im only into fishing with worms and lures but hopfully one day ill be like you!
dont worry just ignore all da myths boout fly8 fishn lol da only real hard part is da castn but wif a gud instructor r sum1 2 help u itl talk less dan a day 2 master even da basic over head cast lol
no dought u guys deserve it i mean trout fishing is not only fun for me but it has grown to be a passion of mine and u guys rele brightened up my day just to see something like this and i love you tecniqes they are flawless and beautiful
Naw, much worse than masturbating. I don't know how fishing in a tank is in anyway being sporting. Instead of spending money on preserving and developing the natural environment, turning this into a video game is completely disgusting. Catching a natural wild brook trout is much more satisfying and honorable than what this schmuck is doing. If you want to catch big fish, you have other options.
This is silly. The video is well put together, but fishing for stocked trout is like masturbating. If you want to catch natural fish of this size, and bigger, look me up.
Stick to the conventional tactics Hanna...On the subject any tips for us small river fishermen? I just switched from a 7wt to a 5wt specifically for small river fishing for browns.
Brilliant video !!

What is the point of spinnerbaits?
And can anyone give me some advice on what lures or bait I should use for lake trout
