I find this an interesting song, actually brilliant in a weird way. I had read that this album (Love You) was B. Wilsons return to full control over a recording production since Pet Sounds and it shows.
But I can see why it was mostly ignored though, def didnt fit the musical landscape of 1977 (disco, other ect). Still cool either way.
This was such a difficult time for The Guys--more than most will ever know. BW should never have done " Big Ones" or this disaster. He was struggling terribly with his demons, smoking 4 packs a day of Camels or Salems, & yet--when he WANTED, he could sing perfectly, ie, " Don't Fight The Sea". Bruce wasn't around, Al & Lynda were struggfling, Carl & Annie were seperating, Mike was off meditating, & BW tried--& failed, to carry the grouip. This song is painful, yet beautiful. Wolfsky9
This is one of only--sad to say this--only 2 songs from this entire album I like--somewhat. it's sadly underproduced, & BW was out of his mind with that synth sound, but Carl's bridge makes the song worthwhile. " Love You" was a commercial/ critical bomb, as was " 15 Big Ones"--but there are reasons, & with The BB's music, context is everything. It was around this time that Carl & Mike had serious disagreements about the band, & BW--his role & his voice--were at the core. Wolfsky9.
possibly little brother carl's shining moment, in the bridge. I could not love this album any more. this music is everything to me. nothing even matters to me anymore, except this music. god bless brian wilson.
Dennis sings the first lines of each verse (the "I'll bet" lines), Brian sings the next few and then Dennis comes in on the chorus ("You pretty baby").
The bridge at 1:18 is one of Carl's best vocals, as another commenter pointed out.
@ThePeacepoet I Just found this record for three bucks at record shop. It's always been my favorite of the Beach Boys. I think it's the most honest album Brian ever made. It's clumsy, weird, but brilliant and heart breaking.
DEAN did the album cover also jan and dean reisues and dennis wilson pacific ocean blue [ he liked dennis wilsons approach when he said we have to do a lot of surfing to get in the mood ] .
I think this is the best song on Love You. And, now that you point it out... I think I do hear Bruce in there!!!

This album is brilliant. Yes, it's cheesy, but there isn't anything wrong with a little bit of cheese.

is this co-lead between Dennis and Brian? Dennis sings the first 2 lines, then Brian takes over right?

One of the best songs on the "Love You" album...trippy yet sober at same time...Brian created some amazing atmospheres

So nice!! Besides Carls part, is this all Brian or Dennis too? Brians voice started sounding alot like his hard living brother around this time.

Im pretty sure all 3 sing lead on this song. Dennis starts the verses and then Brian takes over and then Carl sings the chorus. Great song isnt it?
