I was 6 yrs old in 76 and my mom always listened to ABBA!  So I grew up with them..and I am a musician and everyone always makes fun of their songs saying that they are cheesy....but as B30307 said these songs are well crafted and I always tell everyone I wish I could have written songs like this but my genera' is hard rock! I listen to ABBA all the time! Their music is uplifting!!!

@WitWonFilms .I guess behind the scene was Stikkan Andreson a former performer and singer and their friend (is on Youtube) and Mikael B tretow the genious behind the scence (did songs and records too and was soundengineer) and Lasse Hallström (who did the videos) both on youtube also, and the backup singers did records while backupping abba and so did every bandmember with own band´s and carreer. but they split with Stikkan and got worse anyway in the sound making it more modern = worse

As a teen in the 70s I laughed at this band. As a 50 year old musician I realise how well crafted these songs were and how much work it required.

ABBA , btw did much good in their hayday. Played more benefits and charity gigs than any band in pop history - and gave away a lot of time and money.

A group that wrote outstanding music that has lasted 30 years with amazing singing voices, a clean , friendly and appreciative bunch of people who are already in the history books, generation after generation will still love them after they have passed away... with musicals and movies after them,,and bjorn again (never mind all those trashy tribute acts - yuk) ...but abba did mime on tv shows...but we forgive them, they sang live in concerts thats the main thing.

All four band members receive royalties for broadcasts (radio/TV/film) of actual ABBA performances, but for cover versions of the songs (like in the Mamma Mia stage show and film) only the writers - Bjorn and Benny - get royalties.

The original songs, however, are still played constantly around the world on radio and TV, as well as the albums continue to sell in large numbers, and ensures Agnetha and Frida receive a very healthy annual income.
