and some ppl want to say that animals aren't intelligent........just look at this dog and its mannerisms....it knew it did something wrong that might have displeased its master/mistress.....people NEED to give animals more credit......cause atleast they dont kill or murder of intentionally set out to cause havock or stress in peoples lives like how we humans who are 'supposed' to be more intelligent do.

My sheltie does that to toilet paper. Often if I dont close the bathroom doors before I got to bead, I wake up and c the bathroom full of toilet paper. Funny thing is, I scold her about it and point to the mess she made, and her ears go down and she walks away. Then im like :( NOOO! I love u!

This is a precious Sheltie. I feel sorry for him because he feels shame.

However..

I LET my Shelties tear up paper. It's the cheapest toy I can buy. Also they LOVE to do it. Whenever my Sheltie gets into something they shouldn't (tear sequins off a blouse for example) I don't yell, I just take it away from them gently & hand them paper. It has always worked and has taught them what they CAN tear up and what they cannot.

My little Sheltie does that too! You don't even have to punish Shelties because they know that they shouldn't have done whatever it was they did wrong. My Sheltie had an accident in the house and she came RUNNING up to me and gave me that look. I didn't even know what she did yet! I wasn't upset with her but it was too cute.

When I lost my beloved cocker spaniel a year & a half ago, the last thing I wanted was another dog. However, my husband just couldn't take our empty home & we bought a sheltie puppy. One of the things that has warmed my heart to her is this exact type of guilty reaction when she's been naughty & she gets caught. I now have 6 holes in my carpet & yet I wouldn't trade my sheltie for all the new carpet in the world.

You know, if your dog does something naughty or bad that you dont like, just say its good, and be nice to he/she and then will not do anymore, its like they are rude, and if you dont care, they will not think its fun, and stop.. try that out everybody with dogs, it works on my sheltie :) Just give credits for it, maybe give it some dog food or dog candy and it will be nice to you back :)
