Why the hell do people keep saying their live performance is lack luster? If I could get a good quality recording of their live songs, I would much, much more prefer to listen to them over the live recordings.
MGMT is really not a live band if your looking for action, but if you love the music itself and your looking for spirit it is worth it. Because MGMT is told to be one of the best pop psychedelic musicians and has some really pimped songs on their two latest albumes, people expect a little too much. I mean, performing the songs as they are released on the albumes is nearly impossible. Still worth watching them live I guess.
@ZataMachi I would love to see them live, it is a little lack luster vs the recordings. However as a musician I agree it would be impossible to pull that off. I love the music and the lyrics though, timeless stuff there.
@MashD19 Huh? I don't understand your statement. I meant to say "The intro on this video is the outro to Siberian breaks, which will be used by rappers in the future"
no no i agree I love the simplicity of their shows, not everybody does though. I appreciate bands that just do what they do, put the gimmics aside you know. You can have huge lights and crazy explosives and all that, but that's when people have seizures, and shucks thats not cool.
They still can't meet people's expectations on stage, just like Passion Pit. The albums are great but the live shows aren't. It's ok though, not all bands can be good on stage, i respect that. They are a studio band, but i still love what they do.
They like to play around with different sounds/moods for the live versions, I'm sure they do it knowingly. They have played it album-like, but so often the vibe is just better when they do something different. =)

any idea how they get that kind of sound for the end of siberian breaks?? Sounds so good.

That intro is on the last 2 minutes of "Siberian Banks" on the album. Sucha trippy sound. I guarantee a lot of rappers will use this. Mark my words!

It was a small venue. I think a lot of people expect more from their live shows but I don't mind the simpleness.
