Tikki LOVES this game.

When we got her she was very unhappy.

She had plucked out all of her feathers.

But after 3 years of "therapy" she's happy now and leaves her feathers alone.

Try a local bird rescue or craigslist. Rehoming can be a challenge but is well worth it. One suggestion before you get a cockatoo, read read read and read some more. There are many kinds and can be just as challenging as they are fun and loving and more.

Do you allow the bird to walk on the floor If so he may be "protecting" his territory.

The only way to solve that is to not let him on the floor. Keep him up on playstands,cages,furniture - anything but the floor. Good luck!

She came to us severely neurotic from abuse.

She won't bite but chews t-shirts to pieces.

And demands constant attention.

When you first brought her home, were you able to get close to her at all? My lil Lucy is totally terrorized. Its heart breaking she is so terrified!! She has only been here two months but from what I understand her whole 4 years of life has been a prison of fear!

It will take time for her to trust you.

Oh My Gosh!!!That poor thing.I have a very hard time wrapping my mind around why or how anyone can abuse these birds.

I have a CAG who was badly abused and the things he comes out with just make you cringe.You know these things were said to him allot.He also beats on his toys ans bangs them on his cage and says "I'm sorry Rip...are you alright" It makes me cry to hear that.

This is Tikki's therapy session.

We do this every night. She was plucked naked for the first 3 1/2 years we had her.

Someone had asked me if I was afraid that she would bite my face.

But she is very gentle considering what she had been through.
