These two guy were good in their eras which is fine. But they wouldnt stand a chance in this era of darts. There are so many top players from all over the world better than them. Just my opinion.
My boy may be a bit slow, but to call him a retard is an insult to all mong/retards out there, i will not have it!!! Now go away and let me pack a lunch for my little treasure, and i'm putting a country slice in as a special treat, the special needs minibus will be here soon to take him and his friends to the zoo, i hope he doesn't poo himself like he did last time.
I have lived with my mummy and daddy for nearly 50 years, they let me practice my darts in the garage for 30 minutes every wednesday, i hope to be as good as my heroes jacky wison and ernie bristow soon.
@Bevoin1970 totally agree with yer mate but the sport needed cleaning up and that started with the fags and beer. it wouldn't be where it is today if that hadn't happened. if i had the choice though, i'd have the old days over the new any day of the week
Although the quality of darts was a lot lower I can't help but love this era of darts. I think that's why BDO still attracts me, it's just pure darts, no gimmicks, no walk on girls just Darts. PDC is no doubt brilliant but I went to see it at Birmingham and it was out of control, the aim is too hype up the fans and make it virtually unbearable to concentrate on the scores.
Eric and Jocky had far more character than a lot of todays players. It's a pity that darts fans today have to put up with cry babies like Mervyn King and Ted Hankey. I know Eric and Jocky had a moan from time to time, but they had character and personality. Mervyn and Ted have less character and personality than a dead goldfish.
Sad just been reading a story about Jocky did you know he had lost all his teeth by the time he was 28, and had a nick name gumy i thought i was bad. He bought a new set of dentures that cost him £1.200.00 but he said they made him belch. check out jocky,s story from the guardian funny but very sad.
The golden era of darts. I remember at the time when I was a nipper I always wanted Bristow to lose v Jockey. Now I realise that the crafty cockney is a gentleman and a very kind man at heart. Darts seems to have lost it's innocence now that money has corrupted it.
I can always say I witnessed the sport at it's best.
What a fantastic players both these guys were. I loved them both.Whenever Eric and Jocky played a final I wanted them to win. When they played each other I didn't mind who won - each was fantastic in his own way. Jocky here took his second world final in style.

I loved this era of darts myself, Lager, Fags, Plenty of dart playing characters, you just couldn't help getting sucked in to it.
As we speak Im now watching it on BBC2, 2011, no fags, no booze, Pints of water! - What happened??
For the record, I don't smoke, and I don't play darts, but I like to be entertained. :-)
I loved Jockey, Eric, John Lowe, Bobby George and so on... Just an observation.

It's no denying that Jocky & Eric had some animosity in the past, but you can clearly see that had completely gone after that match.
