A NAT PKG isn't just a NATIONAL PKG from the National parent company of the local affiliate. A NAT PKG can refer to a NATURAL SOUND PKG. This is when a Photog goes out to your event, does a couple interview and gets lots of "natural sound" of your event. This allows s/he to put it together w/out TALENT help. Never pitch a KICKER. Minimal stations run KICKERS now. Other than that, this video is great.
@newsjackass I'm a bit confused. Who does the voice over for the Natural Sound PKG? Is it read by the anchor? If so, that's what I know as an Anchor Pkg. Or is it something else?
Either way you bring up a good point. From market to market lingo can be a little different. It doesn't hurt to chat up a photog the next time you work with them and see what they're using at your local stations.
@sethodell There isn't a reporter/anchor track. It's all natural sound/sots. This is done by photogs out on a shoot by themselves. Like at a Heart Association Walk ect. An anchor would intro & oncam tag for the NATPKG, but its all done w/out track. These types of PKGs are the ones that usually win photogs NPPA, AP and Emmy awards. I would say this is a universal term, having worked all across the country and in the market ajoining Albany in Massachusetts.
@sethodell A NATPKG usually gets a an anchor intro and tag, but the SOT and NATS do the story telling. There is no VO for a NATPKG. I've got an example of one on my youtube page. Check out the "Beat of the rogue" video.
