While all this was going on there were already hundreds if not thousands of protesters in the capitol. So were many other cops (whom I recognized in their street clothes), firefighters, the mayor, another candidate for mayor, etc. The attempt to keep these people out was futile. The State Patrol works for the Gov now and is headed by the father GOP Senate & Assy leaders, the Fitzgerald brothers. Legit Wisc. cops are not to blame for this and have kept things cool.

There is no right to collective bargaining. You do not have a right to bargain with the taxpayers money. If the taxpayers through their elected representatives decide to rescind it, then that is the taxpayers right, to see that their money is being spend in the manner that they please.

While all this was going on there were already hundreds if not thousands of protesters in the capitol. So were many other cops (whom I recognized in their street clothes), firefighters, the mayor, another candidate for mayor, etc. The attempt to keep these people out was futile. The State Patrol works for the Gov now and is headed by the father GOP Senate & Assy leaders, the Fitzgerald brothers. Legit Wisc. cops are not to blame for this and have kept things cool.

Thankfully we dont have collective bargaining down here. Its one reason we have so many diverse thriving industries and so many jobs to choose from. The best job security is from making yourself valuable, not forcing a boss to keep you by law. Anyone should be fired if their value doesnt match their cost, or if they dont fit the culture. Otherwise the business dies & nobody has a job. Some boss with emotional whims is no good to work for. Valuable workers can find better.

@radiofreak56 Those teachers still don't have to pay into their pensions as much as the average private employee. They can still bargain collectively over wages and such, just not pensions/benefits. In this era of an imploding dollar and a collapsing tax base, I think those teachers got a pretty great damn deal.

There is no right to collective bargaining. You do not have a right to bargain with the taxpayers money. If the taxpayers through their elected representatives decide to rescind it, then that is the taxpayers right, to see that their money is being spend in the manner that they please.
Saying you have a right to collective bargaining is like saying healthcare is a right, or that you have a right to vote yourself some of your neighbors income. If somebody else has to provide it, it's not a right.

WE DO NOT SUPPORT YOU! I live in Iowa where unions are practically non-existent, and we are laughing at our neighbors in Wisconsin, and pitying them for having to put up with such lawlessness on the part of their public employees.

Chemotherapy and three successive surgeries paid for with private health insurance, as the fourth operation will be. Trying to get healthy and get my degree so I can become a Marine Corps infantry officer. Want to lead a rifle company in battle then teach history/foreign policy and write fiction.
