There's a very good reason why this song (and the soundtrack to Inside Story in general) is so awesome. Yoko Shimomura composed it. If you didn't know, she also made most of the music for the Kingdom Hearts series and several other games.

This is absolutely epic! Just the sort we'd expect from the person who did the music in the Kingdom Hearts series. I especially like the fact that it combines the standard "If we lose now, all is lost" vibe with something of a "battle that will be remembered throughout history" tone, with a hint of "All right, you punk, it's GO TIME!"

This song reminds me of the everlasting struggle between Mario and Bowser. In my opinion, it's not a battle between good and evil, but a battle for their beliefs. The song is depressing, yet happy at the same time. The actual battle in this game teaches us how Mario and Bowser may hate each other, but there will be times when they need to work together to save themselves and the world. It's that classic cliché moment when light and darkness unite to stop the true evil.
