I Was blessed enough to have seen him in early 74. i was 14 at the time and now almost 40 years later I still thank my mom regularly for taking me.It was beyond words. Every single on of us who have seen him need to know just how blessed we all are ! We were witness to history in the making. I absolutely cannot imagine going through life without having seen the KING in action. Thankyou Mom. Thankyou LORD !!!
This concert is coming out in soundboard next month released by FTD together with december 14 1975 where elvis wore his bicential suite for the first time :D
This is the only big event to ever happen in Omaha isn't it? Haha! Just kidding! This is great footage. You can feel the excitement in the crowd. Elvis was unreal!
I was lucky to see Elvis twice. Once in '76 and '77 at the Chicago Stadium. Yes it was something special. He had the charisma, talent, but most of all he never forgot where he came from. Funny been to alot of concerts throughout the years and I have never seen anything compare to him. He brought so much more than just his music,he was truly something special.
@BigSharkk Only two people could cause the audience to simply explode and go crazy before they ever sang a note. For the other one, listen to "Billie Jean" Michael Jackson 30th anniversary show. Then, of course, Waylon was the King of Country and Western, Pavarotti, opera. The four best, never to be replaced.
No Elvis wasn't god and he did get lucky at sun, but, Elvis alone changed the music industry and opened it up for blacks who up until him were not Accepted by mainstream society. He is the King of Rock and Roll without a doubt but more and more people are calling him the king of music. I'm going for a PhD in university and Elvis comes up in a lot of culture classes he truly was and is unique to the world, There will never be another like him.
Phd?How did he open it up for blacks??He stole black music..I dont have a Phd but i love all music and your wrong..Oh,i am a BROTHA that like ELVIS.......
First of all, I am rarely wrong. The above statement was not my own. I am quoting what Little Richard said about Elvis. You would have to understand and study the racial tension of the 1950's when Elvis began his career. Rock and Roll music was considered "race music" and many other less desirable names. Once Elvis started singing it the radio stations began playing more of it and giving blacks on the radio more air time. Before you jump to conclusions pick up a book on 1950's pop culture.
elvis always promoted other peoples music. many concerts i have of his on cd and dvd prove this. he promoted everyone from little richard, neil diamond,bj thomas, olivia newton john, carl perkens, johnny cash, the doors, the beatles i can go on and on. how anyone says he stole anyones music is beyond me. if he stole it he would have had more than 30 number 1 hits and wouldve realesed everything as singles.
he did not steal black music, thats the biggest lie and misconception of all time. it wasnte ven a black persons song he sang the first time he recorded a record that got him noticed. it was a song called my happieness and the rest is history. im so tired of blacks and other people accusing elvis of that. little richard and everyone gained more pouplarity when elvis sang there songs and he introduced them songs as there songs in many concerts. so saying he stole it is a big fail.
@mofoca22 I never saw any black, white, mexican, indian have his singing talent or have his visual charisma therefore he stole nothing. He was just better then everyone else
@Gyro911 thats the very reason why he was called the king of rock n roll or king of music or king of entertainment because he was so freaken talented he could sing a phone book and make that a hit lol if i had a hair of his talent id be so happy lol there will never be another like him. so people should quit trying to be the next elvis just like they should quit trying to be the next michael jackson those are 2 people you cant copy or surpass
Boy I miss all the "good" stuff. Iam the same age as his daughter and would have loved to have seen him. Didn't get to once. DAMN! I guess these amateur films are as close as I get to the experience. Which I'm so grateful people had the good sense to film in spite of the warnings by the announcers back then. Too bad we don't have even more. People like Elvis come along once in a hundred years if your lucky.
I always liked his live recordings from the 1970's the best except for about 4 studio albums, Burning Love & Hits From His Movies Vol.2 on RCA Camden,He Touched Me Gospel Album with Amazing Grace, both from 1972,and From Elvis Presley Boulevard 1976 and Moody Blue 1977. His 1950's and 1960's were his best studio recordings. he didn't put as much importance on most of his 1970's studio recordings as he did with his 1950's and 1960's ones.
but he still did better live recordings in the 1970's.
It's very cool to see this footage. I am 59 and actually saw one of the Omaha concerts in 1974. It seems so unreal now, but I do have a few pictures. My friends and I sat in the front row several feet to the side of the stage. I was kind of shy then, but I did run up to the stage after Elvis quit singing-hoping to touch his hand. It didn't happen, but at least I was closer to him. He was so handsome and such a great singer and entertainer. He's the King!
What a crime that some of Elvis concerts from this period wasn`t filmed. He was the biggest draw in USA, and sold out wherever he went.Coolest introduction ever, and why not? He was the ultimate cool.
I never saw Elvis in concert. I would have loved to have seen Elvis live. He is the greatest entertainer that ever lived. I'm 43 now and i've been a fan since i was 6 years old. ELVIS FOREVER THE KING.
I am also 43, I was very lucky to get to see him at age 10 in Memphis,TN. 1976 It is something you keep dear to your heart and you never forget.......Something no one can ever take from you...TCB!!!!
Tell ya... That was THE man, with entrance and exit songs... What a King he was! Now I have my own song, but it's more like Peter Griffin's than Elvis'... hsuhsushsuhsuhsu
the crowd there exploded as if it was 1956 and he was just first bursting out on the scene. just amazing. i can just invision thats how loud it'd be, but for a longer ovation if he could tour like chuck berry does now. young people still gettin into his music, like me. 24 str il.
I'm Dave,i'm 42 and i've been a 100% Elvis fan since i was 6 years old.Elvis is without doubt the greatest entertainer who has ever lived. The guinness book of records says it all.I never saw Elvis in concert,i would love to have seen Elvis live. The name 'Elvis' is more famous all around the world than any other artist in history and always will be.Watching videos and dvd's of Elvis walking on stage and seeing thousands of camera flashbulbs going off is great viewing.Long live king Elvis.
well to be honest, im 16 and i totally agree with what u said. he truly is a legend, lets face it, any modern artist isnt going to be worshipped in 31 years time, especially if they die. im atheist, but elvis is still my god.
My sister went to his concert in 1956 when he was first starting, and to this day she talks about how fantastic it was. She couldn't get over how kind and sincere he was at the time.
