Metal doesn't rhyme, but it's not supposed to.
Metal isn't catchy throughout the entire song, it's not supposed to.
Metal songs generally tell a tale, and the music follows up and adapts to the tale told by the vocals.
The vocals are generally strong emotions, mostly sorrow and despair, since happiness isn't a strong emotion enough.

If you are looking for more "christian hard rock", might I suggest a band named stryper. They actually hand out bibles to the audiences at there shows.
