i downloaded the benchmark for ffxi and i got over 7000. so i can play the game in full settings on my pc. i used to play the game on the xbox but id prefer it on pc
@hutley405 i prefer pc too, but not just for visuals. started on PS2, but after buying it for comp, and getting windower and some plugins, became impossible to play without them. recast, TParty, distance, timestamp, autoexec and windower macros... they were addicting. i couldn't even function w/o windower after awhile.
shit i miss this game i hate watching this...brings back memory of ffxi been playing this since i was in 7th grade man sure good memories of playing it with friends
im going to get the ven diel for 360 and i heard i can play with pc and ps2 people too is that true and can u mak a video on the races as well if u can?
That's correct. On any platform (PC, PS2, PS3 or Xbox 360) you are able to play with people of a different platform. This is because all users connect to one of 32 servers. I often find people in North America have PS2, most have PC and recently there has been a large amount of people globally using the 360.
If you look around on youtube there are a few videos about the different races and a small character creation trial on the offical POL website.
How did you make your graphics so good though? Like on my cpu, the characters have tearings, and it's kind of fuzzy....kind of like the old Play Station 1 games. For some reason you have no tearing in your characters, and it has nice graphics and such, like ff10 would look like....Is there a setting somewhere, so I can change my graphics to look better?
you can change resolution from the confiq at the windows start menu , there is even a registry trick to make the backround 1920x1920 if you game from PC .
I just started playing this game this tutorial helped me out. I was lost in the control scheme of this game and I couldn't move for about 10 minutes until I watched this and found the settings.
Hey sorry.. im complety new to FFXI.. but when your changing things like the Clipping plane.. how do you slide it down and up from min to max?... iv been trying to figure it out :S sorry for my noobishness
Assuming your on PC, you go in to Misc 2, scroll through using the arrow keys and press enter over the bar once it is highlighted. Once this is done you can scroll the bar using the arrow keys (left or right). Hit Escape to go back, keep hitting Escape to get rid of the menus all together. Hope that helps :3
Thank you so much!... i was using the mouse to much Bahahaha... Never realised the arrows are easier to use. Thanks once again for your patience and time :)
This ui is this game is terrible and what kind of idiot uses num lock keys as default? Regardless if its 5 years od or not, there is such thing as PC standards. This is just a horrible COnsole Port.
There is no such thing as PC standards that relate to how a computer game is controlled. Take Freelancer and X2 are good examples of different controls for similar games.
There are also different options to how you control the game, although the number pad is the preferred and considered the default, you are free to use the mouse. So even if there was a PC standard, this game would support it.
Well there is PC standards, WASD is the standard controls, i dont use them myself but this is the standard, for example all FPS's come with a lean option, but when its a console port for example farcry2, it doesnt come with this and its a terrible design.
PC play and have different standards or defaults than consoles, not saying this game is terrible but using numlock for the default is just idiotic.
I realise you can change these settings of course, but its still stupid.
There cannot be a set PC standard control across gaming platforms because each genre of game is not comparable to the next. For example you cannot have a beat'em up compared to an RTS. You very rarely use WASD in an RTS, and an RTS is mostly mouse controlled. How many RTS use WASD as a standard?
There is no such thing as PC standards for game controls. There is a such thing as PC standards and internet standards but these DO NOT include game controls.
Well the qulaity of the game always suffers when its a console port, and i agree to an extent, but when i mean PC standards i mean the basic control, yes they do differ from different genres, FPS's third person, platformers any game that controls some object in that way or FOV, all use WSAD, even with an RTS they all have similar hotkeys. People use WSAD play style for a reason, its comfortable and easy access to alot of keys
And comparing an RTS to a beat'em'up on a PC is just absurd...
I am not debating that WASD are sometimes favoured by some genres of games. There is a general "go with what works" in computer games I agree but this does not mean that all other controls are wrong or certainly not stupid. In FFXI's case, it was one of the first mmorpgs of its kind and is still unique in many ways and having such a wide variety of controls is only beneficial. Definitely not stupid.
I was giving the absurd comparison to prove one type of control will not suit all games.
I agree that there is a wide possibility of controls which is a positive thing, but i do still think having numlock as default is just ridiculous, Also there was many MMORPG's before this, WoW is 4 years old now, And everquest is god knows how old now, and most games have carried EQ's style over to there own.
Also why the hell do i have to edit the registry to even remotely make my game look good, and my PC can handle anything, so not my speccs.
In the world of computer games development, a year is a very long time. Take the changes from halo 1 to halo 2 as a prime example of this.
Most games have the same "style" because they are unoriginal and just use the same old engine over and over. WoW, LOTR and the comming DBZ mmorpg all use the same engine - this is certainly not something to be praised.
Numlock is only the default control for keyboard users. There are different default controls for PS2, xbox 360 and mouse users.
The game is over 5 years old which is why the interface is the way it is. It also has to work for xbox 360, PC and PS2 + PS3 users so although it can be confusing for the first day, you should learn how to adapt pretty quickly. This is generally true for all MMORPGs.
Im playing on a laptop with no numerical keys. So moving is done with teh mouse and is rlly hard. Also the game is running fine for me but how do i open the main menu? I looked at the guide and it only had desk top kboard config. No matter what number (1-0) i press it apears as text. Pressing teh + or - just tupes in + or -. WHat do i do? Im dying to play this.
You can use an external USB numberpad to solve this problem or change to control settings 2 for a more classic type of game control, more similar to CoH or WoW.
Use Compact Keyboard settings set in misc2, this makes WSAD movement and IKJL Looking around, Y is accept and N is cancel, and - opens the menu. It is a very intuitive way to use it and you dont have to use the mouse at all to play the game Once you got it under control you can just sit back wiith your keyboard in your lap and pllay like its a PS2 Controller, The other option is to plug in a Dualshock controller via usb or with a USB adaptor, or using an XBOX controller.
'Animation Frame Rate' only affects other peoples characters and not yours.
So to test that out you would have need someone else to run around you so that person would look like some old 'Speed Racer' animated character running skipping frames.
Yeah, it's a useful tool to use in a heavily packed besige or campaign. You still get an idea of what is going on, it just looks less glamorous. Thanks for pointing that out.
haha, yeah I quit in may...after 3 years...20 garrison events...I needed a break lol...plus i only play WoW cuz its free~ but its not as near in fun value
It is in game music. However, I've used music from a different area. Each area or "zone" on Final Fantasy has it's own music, and then if you are in a battle, in a zone, the music is different again.
oh yea I know that, ive pretty much played all Final Fantasy's So I was expecting that. Im thinking of buying it but im scared it might be outdated or quit soon or whatever...
Including offical titles and spin offs, there are over 50 Final Fantasy titles. I'm not 100%if hrono Cross is included, but things like the mystic quest series are.
By heavily I mean most of the rendering and game processing is done by your processor and it doesn't take advantage of your graphics card.
Essentially a good CPU is needed and it doesn't matter about your GFX card.
ah ok :o ... When I come back from france I'd probably buy FF11... just that.. I dont have a credit card... in europe only germany can use its bank account... so I guess Id have to beg one of my parents. :>...
I have problems with my PC version of this game looking choppy/fuzzy and, the water just looks like dots moving. I tried the weather effects and all, it doesn't change anything ; ; I just want it to look smooth.
wont that make ppl do same war again if ps and xb360 ppl are in same servers =( tho its a good thing that they are in one but .. think about it.. and is i true that they are gonna make ps3 version of the game ..
Surprisingly enough it was only the first few weeks of the 360 joining in my experience that there was some arguements over which console was better. Especially with th 360s over heating issues etc... However this generally a rarity now that all console players have settled in.
because the ones in char creation are baised to look good, eg the animations. when you are in game you have to take into account all the other players in the town, area your in and so on.
Ultirian is correct. When in character creation there is just the one character, in a pre-set amount of moves, which is very easy for the system to cope with. When you are in the world of Final Fantasy you can have hundreds of people in the same area - obviously these cannot all be displayed at once but they can show a chunk of them by lowering the quality of graphics with using simplier models and skins.
I couldnt move the graphic slider on mine. Is there a reason for that? :(
