Cool, this is exactly what I'm about to do in my bathroom. I have 10 y.o. builder grade cabinets with nasty, kinda sticky wood. Thanks for showing the products and tool you use and mentioning why!!
Btw, I guess I don't need a sealer if I use primer even w/ all the moisture in bathroom.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO SOMETHING... DO IT THE RIGHT WAY! YOU DIDN'T CLEAN THE SURFACE BEFORE THE SANDER DEGLOSSER (WHICH IS THE DIRECTIONS ON THE BOTTLE), YOU DIDN'T TAKE THE DOORS OR HINDGES OFF. WHICH MEANS YOUR PAINTED OVER THEM, AND WHEN YOU OPEN THE CABINET DOORS THE HINDGES WILL CHIP AND LOOK CHEAP. I'D RATHER WATCH THIS OLD HOUSE WITH THE CHEESY OLD MEN!
This was such a great video! Out of all te videos I've watched this is by far the best one. You grave clear instructions, the video was clean and the volume was good. You described all the products you used for the project(most people don't). I enjoyed watching thid video! My ubby and I are updating our bathroom now.
Yeah, oil paint beats latex even if Latex is the "kinder, gentler paint" of today and even if you have to go to Sherwin Williams or a paint store instead of orange Home Depot to find it.
@llamos Just curious what you did. I don't want to sand/ degloss my sides because I think that will take off the very thin layer of wood on top and below will just be ugly pressed wood. I was going to prime and paint?
I had no idea there was a Deglosser available.

What about the sides, which are normally made of some kind of laminated pressed board? Do we use the sander deglosser, prime and paint there as well?
