  • I always wondered about post WW2 Japan. It seemed to go much smoother than in post WW2 Germany. My grandpa prob would have died invading Japan if there was not a Japanese surrender. I always hear so much about Hitler and the Berlin wall, I was happy to see coverage of Japanese reconstruction.

  • My grandfather too was scheduled for invasion, but instead was diverted to occupation duty in Tokyo in those initial days: guarding the embassy, the imperial palace, and MacArthurs son. He held MacArthur in high regard.

  • I really enjoyed your series of videos about post-war Japan. Very educational and I especially love the footage of everyday Japan in that era...what my mother lived through. The transformation of Japan is quite a success story, compliments of the U.S. and the willingness of the Japanese people to cooperate for the benefit of all.
