Ann Blyth brought both poignancy and mystery to Lenore, the beautiful mermaid and her singing voice was used to haunting advantage too. She was so lovely in this movie..and she still is. Thanks for sharing.
wow, unbelieveable, I was ten or twelve when I saw this on TV, never knew the title, but remembered ann blyth as the mermaid. that was my first crush on a movie star, early fifties, unreal
I saw this movie when I was quite young and It caused me to have a "crush" on Ann Blyth for many years. It is shown on TV very infrequently. The BG music is very strange and alluring.
It's called, "Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid" and you can find it at Amazon and at Movies Unlimited. It's one of my favorites from when I was a kid; they used to run it on the late night movie spots on tv.
Freeworld, I have a copy of my own which I recently bought at Amazon, but it's used, in good condition and in VHS. Check there and see if anyone has a copy. Good luck! I'll check around for you and get back to ya! ; )
Freeworld, this is my dilemma! So many great classic movies not restored and put on DVD! I would love to get a copy of "The Cheaters" on DVD. Right now I have a bad copy on VHS, fuzzy and audio not great. I think it's bootlegged.
We bought a machine at Wal-Mart that we use to put old VHS tapes onto blank DVDs.You might want to check something like that out.(I hate Wal-Mart,but what can ya do?)lol
Freeworld, ha ha! Right, what can ya do? I hate that corporation also...but what can ya do? Only use them when you absolutely HAVE to! Thanks for the tip, BUT I want a retored copy which is in good condition.
Ann Blyth sort of looks like Sierra Boggess as Ariel from The Little Mermaid on Broadway!

Women never looked more beautiful onscreen than in the Golden Age of Hollywood.
