Farming is not the sole, but is an important part of my family heritage; and while some afforded themselves unncessary luxuries, it was for only one or two things, so very little. And they worked a lot; 4 or 5am to maybe 10pm every day, for total shift. It wasn't constant work. Children had to go to school, fe, and we can't milk cows without giving them breaks! Stupid people could try to do that, but would fail in their enterprises!

@youngn420 whatever is lost in public sector jobs is a gain for private sector opportunities. in the private sector, (ideally) there are less regulations/taxes to deal with compared to the public sector. what you're seeing now is the government choking the whole industry with subsidies/regulations for the schools and higher taxes/lower education for the taxpayers, thus pushing the price (and risk) a lot higher. the public sector can only take in money, the private sector has to make it.
@youngn420 Hopefully way back. My father had a better education in the '30's than I had, and I had a better education in the '60's & '70's than they are getting today. There is just no comparison. Our dept of education is a complete failure and so is the dept of energy, etc.

@youngn420 whatever is lost in public sector jobs is a gain for private sector opportunities. in the private sector, (ideally) there are less regulations/taxes to deal with compared to the public sector. what you're seeing now is the government choking the whole industry with subsidies/regulations for the schools and higher taxes/lower education for the taxpayers, thus pushing the price (and risk) a lot higher. the public sector can only take in money, the private sector has to make it.

The only issue is farmers do the work, they do not collect the big bucks. The major food/crop/seed corporations come in for the major profits. Farmer are getting taken advantage of, corporations hold a legal hatchet over their head. I think the rest sounds pretty logical.

Some people like to say that the people themselves share blame in their situation, because they voted for their elected officials. However, that is simply not true, as politicians will always say and promise whatever necessary to get elected and then once in office they legislate in favor of special interest...not the ones who elected them into office.
