Yes he is.

In 2004 he did the soundtrack for the Alexander Movie and in 2007 (his latest work) he did the sountrack for the greek / european movie El GRECO!

I think this is my favorite Vangelis piece. Eerie and beautiful, like a sci fi story. It makes the paintings take on a new significance.

Procession is one of the best Vangelis' track for me. I like how it is graduating from gentle beginning to the grand finale...

Yes he (Vangelis) is considered and unanimously accepted by world wide music critics the Titan of instrumental music. After his death he will became as old time classics, Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, etc. His music touched the sky and delights the Angels ears being one of the main reasons God still loves this miserable grains of stellar dust that we are. I grew up on Vangelis music and his music ported me to the infinity of space and harmony;
