damn.. i still remember watching this during my 4th grade year, and instantly fell in love with the show even though i didnt really understood the storyline correctly. it was the music and the acting that caught my attention from the beginning.
@kara12 Well then, you're hanging around a very small minority of thinkers. I'm sure if we ran a poll, season 1 would land in the top 2 greatest LOST seasons 99% of the time.
This is one of the greatest moments in TV history, i get goosebumps every freaking time! There are no words to describe the beauty of this music...this show.
THE most powerful HAPPY scene in ANYTHING! It´s usually sad scenes that are emotional, but Lost Season 1 is so perfect that it manages to thrill you like this with a happy scene. FANTASTIC! I´m going to miss Lost :(
The way I fell in love with the characters, watching those episodes that made me think hard and cry like a baby,. Yeah, obviously there are things in the series finale that I hated, but I still missed this show.
Lost is the most creative, groundbreaking and original series that has ever graced our screens. Nothing can compare and nothing ever will. Brilliant series, moving and touching, can't believe it's gone.
Television will never be quite the same. "Lost" raised the bar so high...then hurdled it. Several times. In another 20 or 30 years, there will be some new show that, for whatever reason, sneaks past the suits to be something really great. "Lost" only got to be "Lost" because the network execs didn't have time to screw it up--and luckily, some truly intelligent, creative, and educated people were in charge. Network television hasn't a chance to pull something comparable off again any time soon.
Vincent running after the raft : chills, and the tears begin. Sawyer hoisting the sail and the sheer hope/elation of these men as they set sail: joyful tears. Jin gazing intently at his left-behind beloved: crying. Sun's uncertainty and sadness while everyone else is cheering, and that tentative wave as she shields her tear-filled eyes and the music soars: full-on sobbing and diaphragm spasms and heartache like someone just punched me in the gut. Dear God this scene is so beautiful.
Ya know, when you think about it, the only people who survive the series from this scene are Sawyer, Claire, Aaron, and Vincent. Everyone else was killed. Which makes this even more heart wrenching.
Walt saying goodbye to Vincent always gets me. Also what makes it sadder for those who watched the whole series know that this is the last time they'll see each other.
season 1 was definitely my favorite and then i think the writers got a little to carried away. But in the end Lost is Lost n u cant compare it to anything
This was such a fucking great scene... it's buried under so much that happened in seasons 2 - 6 but I remember (despite knowing Lost was bound to continue and that this would be far too much of an easy resolution) feeling so much hope when it set off. Such a great moment. An all too brief moment of true happiness on Lost
You know, the feeling of sheer joy and hope I felt when I watched this was about the most I've ever felt watching a TV show! Giacchino's score really takes this scene to incredible heights. Amazing piece of television to say the least!
Oh, and - as with the series finale - Vincent made me teary-eyed. :)
It's so sad when Sawyer looks to the other side to see if Kate is there. I don't understand how still some people is against Saywer and Kate together, that's so unfair.
all i can think off is how unbelievable, motivating and sweeping this sounds...its tough to remember a time where something moved me as much as this has....
Amaaaazinng, OMG, I so wish they can bring back those bittersweet dramatic touches they used to have in season 1 and 2, when everybody was united and not so miserable and dark like now, ok I do like that the show really got deep and more thrilling, but it somehow looks like those little dramatic touches are the reason why season 1 won emmy's and golden globes while the later seasons didn't.
@littlep0li I totally agree. I will always love this show, but these moments are why I started watching in the first place. I don't really care about all the sci-fi stuff...give me character development any day. At least the dramatic "love rectangle" scenes at the end of Season 5 kind of brought back that old school charm.
I agree with both of you. Seasons 1 and 2 were truly something magical and special. It made you truly care about these characters. I remembered being worried how they'd be able to take care of Claire's baby on the island like it was real life! Even Jin and Sun's subtitled scenes came off great. The character development in those seasons could rival some of the greatest movies. The show is still great now though. Stick it out.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The later seasons are so overrated. People honestly will try to say the phonecall in The Constant (with bad acting on the actress who played Penny's part) is more heartwarming than this? Yeah, right... -.-

Lol, you criticize me for bashing some scenes of the latest seasons of Lost (which I enjoy anyway) and I find your channel is littered with flames about you being an intolerant racist? Don't reply to me again, you illiterate asshole.
Speechless just emotions mixed with philosophy and faith, fantastic music, great scenoria and beautiful people to naturally act, everyone should learn something about themselves when they watch the lost becasue they will find themselves in the island!!
I tear up at this - the buildup, the glorious, glorious music. But I don't actually lose it until Vincent attempts to swim out and then at the behest of it's master, turns back. Then I cry. Lost is a great show, one for the all time lists, and has given me many moments that I cherish. But this.... this is still the best.
this would have been a great way to end season 1, the music is great.
just like how i think the part 1 of Theres No Place Like Home would have been a good way to end season 4, mainly because of the music. does anyone know about a season 4 soundtrack?
and just a fun fact...i think this is one of the first and maybe only shots that is not on the ground until the helicotper in season 4.
Hmm I respectfully disagree (about ending the season here lol). Each season has a story arc and ending it is pretty much mandatory. Like you know how No Place Like HomePart One ends with Ben getting hit in the head? That's a cliffhanger. Cliffhangers are cool DURING the season buts it's an awful way to end a season.
They still end on cliffhangers. Season 1 ended with the Hatch open, Season 2 ended with that station finding the EM pulse and Jack/Kate/Sawyer getting captured (we also didn't know what happened to Locke, Desmond, and Eko), Season 3 was in the future, and Season 4 we found Locke died. They keep us from losing interest over the summer.
As sad as it is, I've NOT YET seen the finale live on TV.
Yeah, but the story arc always completes itself. In season one, Aaron is returned safely and the whole opening the hatch deal is resolved. In season two, pushing the button is resolved. In season three, the losties get in contact with the outside world. In season four, the O6 get off of the island. So yes, there ARE still cliffhangers at the ends of the season finales, but the main story of the season wraps up and a new one begins.
It's been so long since I've seen this episode, I completely forgot about Vincent swimming after the raft. That's gotta break the heart of any dog lover.
Charlie, Shannon, handcuffed Jin, Claire, less annoying Michael, young Walt...I miss Season 1. Nice to see everyone happy..if only they knew all the shit that will come
This scene is happy for everyone except poor Sawyer he wants Kate to be there to say goodbye, but she can't because, she can't bare to say goodbye to him:(
Just saw the Season 4 behind the scene feature about the music, good to know that I wasn't alone in thinking that this piece of music was the best in the entire show.
actually i think he really does i think hes more important then we think its the only character on lost that the producer says will make it to the end of the show
wow this scene is so powerful! Speaking with the benefit of hindsight you see that neither side knows if they'll see each other again and every little goodbye from Michael and Sun's awkward hug to the acknowledging look Charlie and Sawyer share is one of hope, courage and faith and I love that! Like Gunjak99 and jrli98 said they dont have these moments anymore :( this scene is a very emotional and beautiful scene!
Im not afraid to admit it, I cried like a bitch during this scene especially the part where Vincent swims after the raft. Such a loyal dog, trying to go and protect his master.
Im also hoping that him and Walt are reunited soon. I just dont think it would be that great of pay off if they didnt have it.
same here...that moment i cried too..and also when bood died:(( that guy has such beautiful eyes:) and when charlie was about to die...I realy love this movie
OMG! same every time i watch that scene i get all choked up!! espsecially at the part when vincent tries to go with walt... i love LOST so much its such a good show, kind of hard to follow if u miss episodes, but still its moments like this that make it such a good show=]]]]]
Omg my girlfriend cryed when vincent ran in the water after them and since she cryeed it kinda made me cry and then i felt kinda gay, but it was worth it, cuz we still both love the show.
in other shows, a moment like this may come across as corny, but with LOST, we care about the characters so much that we are right there with them...and that score doesn't hurt.
Seeing this again reminds me of just how big an event Exodus was. The finest moment of the show, and maybe even all of television. Hopefully when the Oceanic 6 leave the island it will be just as emotional.
makes me cry everytime. the best of season 1. they cant make scenes like these anymore coz of the heavy scripting. (and i am not complaining) yunjin kim's acting here is just excellent. a scene with no jack and kate and yet so full of emotions!
kate and jack are some of the most boring characters. Whenever theyre both on screen, it's always about them loving each other, who gives a shit maan.
i'd hate to get off topic, but would someone like to explain to me what was wrong with the series finale?

Omg my girlfriend cryed when vincent ran in the water after them and since she cryeed it kinda made me cry and then i felt kinda gay, but it was worth it, cuz we still both love the show.

in other shows, a moment like this may come across as corny, but with LOST, we care about the characters so much that we are right there with them...and that score doesn't hurt.

Seeing this again reminds me of just how big an event Exodus was. The finest moment of the show, and maybe even all of television. Hopefully when the Oceanic 6 leave the island it will be just as emotional.

2.00 - that thing on the far right of the screen, that's actually a camera! how did they not spot that when they were filming? lol

Youve deffinately got the best taste when it comes to great scenes. Unfortunately, there are no scenes like this during the recent seasons :(
always talking and NO instrumentals.

makes me cry everytime. the best of season 1. they cant make scenes like these anymore coz of the heavy scripting. (and i am not complaining) yunjin kim's acting here is just excellent. a scene with no jack and kate and yet so full of emotions!

kate and jack are some of the most boring characters. Whenever theyre both on screen, it's always about them loving each other, who gives a shit maan.

spot on. and i think that kate and jack are not the power couple in lost. its desmond and penny!
