Hitler actually had a lot of respect for the British, their way of life, the fact they ruled an empire the sun never set on, it wouldn't be totally crazy to say he admired them. He wanted to beat them, get them out of the way so he could focus on his real long term goal, acquiring more land for his master Aryan Race and empire, by beating the Soviets forcing the Russians they didn't kill into Siberia.
@bakugancollecterZ The Russians were sub human to him, so was communism. He wanted the British to side with Nazi Germany, but since they wouldn't he attacked and planned to invade. Why do you think there was no second Battle of Britain?
@southparkfan2717 They were protestants, he considered them to have renounced everything, he used to hate them, he wanted them GONE, there was no second battle because Germany could not handle that much economic strain.
all the crap u wanna say abt hitler and nazis ure free to do!!!!!,but dont forget the germans contributed in the demise of the british empire by putting strain on their economy thru war!!!
@drtusi And Germany suffered more than any other country by losing the war to England, the British Empire fell gracefully and for more than a hundred years it was the dominant power, and the Empire's remnants remain to this very day,
@bakugancollecterZ but isnt it a contradiction not one of the former colonies sympathizes with them, however there is an admiration for the german efforts during the war, even if at times a covert, even irish of all people, next door anglo-saxons collaborated with the nazis and kept their embassies open during the war,in egypt a museum is dedicated entirely to rommel, the fall of france is celebrated in the arab world, etc
@drtusi Nazis = cruel murdering racist dictators, they wanted world domination, everyone knows that, the allies knew that if Germany ruled the world things will take a turn for the worse, WWII did have SOME advantages, but in the end, the economy fell, and it practically ruined the world as we know it, Nazi Germany was destroyed, and it will never return again, Germany returned to it's once proud state.
Obviously not all of them were shot down, the main objective of RAF were the bombers, big and slow targets. Most of the footage of "stuka" destruction in this video comes from Poland actually.
@Dexalicious The American's dumb down everything. Making WWII seem like a movie! This is what "educational programming" is in the U.S. This is what kids watch in history class in school! I fear for this planet!
These historical analysts are pulling their analyses out of their asses. The reason why they took people at very young ages was because they had to scrape everywhere to get pilots.
The United States and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland still need each other. We should dwell on our similarities, not on our differences. We will be allies again.
stereotypical Americans saying they saved us in the war well put it this way if the Germans had taken the UK then tell me how the hell would you have put your men on European soil and reach Germany....? answer you couldn't because you needed Britain as a base for landing Americans in France.......so next time remember that.
@gladifly Before jumping on ppl, one should know his history and you do not. Before the US even started staging in Great Britain for the Normandy landings, they had already landed in Italy (Operation Husky July 1943) and right after Overlord southern France was invaded. I think there were some places to go other than from Great Britian.
@gladifly So Operation Torch means nothing to you. Granted the British bore the majority of the fight in N Africa but never did close the deal until the Axis were pinched between to forces. And don't forget, the British were very materially challenged during this campaign, would the turn out be the same without all the help. Of course the Sicilian invasion came out of N. Africa, that's why the US got so involved. They wanted to attack from N Africa to the "soft underbelly" as Churchill put it.
@Toddinfantry britian had been fighting in N.africa since 1940 the americans only joined in 1942 cause they got an ass whooping of the japs at pearl harbour again operation torch was sent from the UK to N.africa.
Hitler promised to declare war on the US if Japan attacked the UK. Japan could not take on the UK & US alone. In Nov 41 Japan thought the USSR would be defeated within weeks. Japan needed a year before the UK & US would hit back in force. Germany would be free to assist them and the USSR no longer a threat on its northern border.
Reality was the Soviets hit back with a battering ram at Moscow in same week they attacked the UK & US. Then they were fighting alone - not in the plan
"if Churchill was the greatest human in the 20th century how come he ordered the bombing of Dresden"
Dresden was a legitimate rail target. At the time the allies had not crossed the Rhine - many died crossing it. V rockets were hitting London and Antwerp killing civilians indiscriminately.
This was NOT a battle for Britain. That would be by the navy and army. Germans had NO navy facing the MASSIVE RN attempting an invasion in towed river barges. Jodl saw it as a British mincing machine. Only 1/3 of the army was in France & was re-equipped with the latest equipment & ready. After the battle the British had superior air force and navy.
6 months after this air battle the UK was poised to take all the southern Med coast, so much for a nation supposed to be quivering in its boots
@NearAbbeyRoad That is why it is called the Battle of Britain, not the Battle for Britain. And basically, either is correct. Had the Luftwaffe beaten the RAF and gotten air superiority the way would have been opened for an invasion of the British mainlands. Also, the Germans had allotted many U-Boats for support during an invasion. They realized that the Royal Navy outclassed what the German Navy had, even with air superiority. The deciding factor was to have been the U-Boats.
"Had the Luftwaffe beaten the RAF and gotten air superiority the way would have been opened for an invasion of the British mainlands. "
Raeder said, "even with air superiority, I cannot guarantee putting down an invasion fleet while the RN is there". The German didn't even have an anti-ship plane. No torpedo bomber.
U-Boats in shallow seas? Get real. The German U-Boat fleet in 1940 was small - the French was bigger.
Britain did not win this battle.Hitler lost it when he changed tactics and started bombing cities (London, Coventry) insted of heavy industries.RAF was virtually defeated in August 1940.
Bombing cities made it possible for RAF to replace destroyed aircraft.
ahhh britain, britain, britain, what was once a pround, strong nation is now a PC, lady like nation living in a world of scammers, corruption and the view if the world through rose tinted specs. Some-what naive and not strong enough to draw the line and yet it is clear where is has to be drawn. My roots are british. Good luck to you britain, from an opserver's point of view, a pro brit, you're going down, down. What a shame :(
Lol...well forcing a language upon an entire race of people is pretty much impossible, they have to want to learn it,I speak five languages and each one was a bugger to learn, they have to want to learn it,which come back to my point that the English language is the language of trade and business,as was the Empire, although Mandarin might be worth learning in future.
@TheBalkanian We brought no more suffering than any other colonial power,so you are saying that the Indian culture is the same now as the British? the Pakistani culture? we embraced a lot of their culture and made no attempt to stamp it out,we brought the rule of law, transport, infrastructure,I acknowledge that some people have suffered that was the way of the world at that time, can't change history, whereas Hitler wanted the whole world as slaves,we just wanted them to buy our goods
@TheBalkanian It was a time of war...all is fair in love and war,Hitler needed to be defeated by any means, unfortunately in hindsight area bombing didn't work and accounted for thousands of deaths, but calling it a war crime is a grey area, they were our enemy and did just as bad if not worse to us.
@TheBalkanian You will find that the British government enacted the Slave Trade Act in 1807 which abolished the slave trade in the Empire. Are the Ghurkha's slaves? that century was the age of Empires if it wasn't the British it would of been the Portuguese or French or Spanish, the fact is Great Britain started the industrial revolution and became a global power because of it,we had massive goods to trade, and that is the primary reason the Empire existed,it did more good than bad.
@TheBalkanian At that time it was believed that Dresden had over 120 factories and a large industrial area contributing to the Nazi war effort, plus German troops fleeing west from the Russians needed warmth and shelter,we denied them that luxury,,secondly the British Empire was built mainly on trade, and if we "enslaved" most of those people you refer to...then how come they fought bravely along side us in the war?
If England and France help Poland fight nazis in 1939 This war could take only 1 month. Evry one was w8 until Russia and Deuchtland zerg Poland. Layter France give ass for nazis, and Polish pilots had help defend GB land from nazis fithers. THIS IS MOUST IMPORTANT AND GREATEST EVIDENCE IN HOSTORY.
"If England and France help Poland fight nazis in 1939 This war could take only 1 month"
CORRECT! France could have moved right into Germany; only went a few kms through abandoned villages. Germany lost 1/3 of its equipment in Poland and was in no fit state to face France if French troops took the fight right into Germany - France had more, and better, tanks. The British then could have mobilized (takes time) to come in after the French had moved forward.
The German could have and should have been stopped. they were outnumbered facing more heavy tanks. Total Allied incompetence gave the Germans a win they could not believe in a matter of weeks.
@michaelstarwars45 Yes, the equipment was not free, but would we give equipment just for free? Hell, we even gave food, oil and clothing to Russia's men, and just about everything TO the English. We even planted our men after some time. Do remember the reason why we did not want to get involved was because we felt that this was another imperialist's war. WWI was an absolute waste of our time.
I was think the battle for britan was won by aliance becouse Polish squadrons had allmoust 50% of shootdawns of whole RAirforce not becouse of some missing photos.!!!!
@Liquidazot this is because polish pilot,s wanted to kill the man inside the aeroplane and not just take it down. but the r.a.f just wanted to knock out the aircraft only this is what made polish pilot.s very dangerous
@michaelstarwars45 There is no DIFFRENCE betwen avenging countr or defending it. You have to kill destroy and burn other way they kill destroy and burn your families your cities your ladn. There is no any excuse just kill or die.
The Battle of Britain, Was 1 of the most vitals battles of the war, If the British Empire was defeated then the Axis would rule over Europe,Africa,Middle-east,Asia,Pacific and would have more man-power,Resources than the U.S and Russia could dream of, Russia would be humiliated fighting alone, Also U.S would be humiliated. The Axis had the great leaders, technology, weapons, tanks, soldiers There only problem was Hitler.
@martynrobin121 Ahahahaha, really? The United States gave everything from fuel to food. Britain was nothing without its ally. Also, yes, it was a great victory in stopping Operation Sea Lion (Invasion of Britain) by literally cutting down German air superiority, that would have crushed British warplanes, just as Japan and the Repulse/Prince of Wales. Also, Britain barely did anything in the Pacific. It was us who took the Pacific. Totally different war.
@martynrobin121 Also, without America, Britain would've dissapeared. Without America, there would be no D-Day, without America, there wouldn't be the Grant or the amazing Sherman. Without America, Germany would've kept their industrial facilities building tanks without being bombed upon! Without the U.S, WWII would've been an Axis Victory. Face it. As for Russia? HAHA! If Germany did not invade those WORTHLESS PIGS, they would've helped Japan as a Nazi Partner.
@Tyco200...Actually, without Britain there wouldn't have been a D-Day and without the USSR there would have been an Axis victory. You probably know nothing about the terms and conditions of lend-lease, which benefited the US more than Britain. Britain gave the US bases in the Carribean and Newfoundland, abolition of imperial preference which gave the US access to British markets, oil rights in the Middle East, convertibility of the pound, the fire sale of UK companies in the US. Dream on.
@Tyco200 YOUR DUMB! D-Day wasnt even vital part of the war, Infact D-Day was more about stopping Communism, The Facists forces were long defeated. And the Sherman Tank was one of the worst tanks of the war! And the R.A.F started to bomb Axis industry in 1939, Years before the Americans joined in. The British were winning long before the U.S forces arrived, And had Rommel on the run in N.Africa. And the Soviet Union played the main role during the war, They were unstoppable!
@martynrobin121 Ahaha! D-Day was about giving us a third front, you retard. We pushed in from Normandy all the way to Czechoslovakia thanks to Normandy in the first place. And worst tanks of the war? Dude, you truly are an idiot. Shermans armed with 76mm guns could kill Panthers with both the APCB at 1000-1,200 meters, and on some accounts, killed Panthers at 1,600 meters. British Sherman got nicknamed "Tommy cookers" mainly due to British crews cramming ammo wherever they could store it. Fail.
@Tyco200 D-Day wasnt even a vital part of the war against the Axis, It was more vital to stop the Soviets taking Europe! And you talk like the Sherman tank was a good tank, It was a death trap! Also both British and U.S supplies to the Soviet Union were very small, The Soviets produced there own Tanks,Aircraft,Fod,Weapons,Ammo just research! Yes, The U.S lendlease to Britain 1941 was vital and by 1943 most of the British war effort was coming from the U.S.
@martynrobin121 I love your anti-American hatred. Truly makes you look like a fool. And who gave you extra pilots, material, fuel, food and supplies? Who gave the USSR their tanks, food and even clothing in the early days?... What were some of the first ships to go down? Oh, American! Also, if America were not there, the RAF would've stayed to night-time air raids. American air bombings truly destroyed the Axis industries. Without it, you would've truly failed. Your info is flawed.
@Tyco200 The U.S never gave Britain pilots, Free-men from America and around the world came to Britain out of FREE-WILL. And the British traded with the U.S, We bought everything. Britain never got a lendlease till 1941. And the Soviets produced there own Tanks,Aircraft,Food, etc even Britain sent the Soviets Tanks,Aircraft, etc. And your an idioit, Allied bombing of Axis industry did very little, Infact 1944 the Axis were making more Tanks, etc than in 1938! Just research!
The Sherman was one of the worst? Given that it was quite on par with the late Panzer IV and T-34, that'd make the overwhelming majortiy of the tanks in the war "the worst".
@Magni56 When the European Axis forces invaded the Soviet Union 1941, They shit themself, The Red Army had a better tank, T-34 was the ultimate Tank that won the war, Even Hitler said so after Kursk. Infact the Tiger tank was produced as a secret weapon against the T-34s. And the Sherman tank was not a very good tank, Sherman could not compare to the Tiger, Its like a Cat and rat! Also Adolf hitler was very poor military leader, German high command thought he was insane!!
Yeah, cool. And when the Germans met the Sherman tank first in North Africa, at a time when they were using the same early Panzer IVs and Panzer IIs they had in Russian in '41, it was very much the same story. And no, the Tiger was not produced as a "secret weapon" and was meant as a heavy breakthrough tank and to take on soviet heavies like the KV-series.
@Magni56 Hitler saw the Tiger tank as a secret weapon against the Red Army tanks. However the Tiger arrived too late and not enough were built. When the Germans saw the T-34 tank they shit themselfs, The Subhuman Russains had abetter tank! When Rommel first met the Sherman tanks 42, Most of the Axis tanks,Aircraft, supplies had been wiped out, The British 8th Army could replace there loses, The Axis found it hard just to get there supplies past the Royal Navy and to feed there forces!
Wrong. The Tiger was always seen as a heavyweight breakthrough tank, not some idiotic silver bullet. When Rommel met the Shermans first, he still had the exact same gear he had throughout all the north african campaign. The same gear the Wehrmacht had during Barbarossa. The rest of your diatribe is yet again without any actual point.
@Magni56 The Tiger tank was too few to be effective, Also it arrived late in the war and was hard to mass produce. Yes the Tiger tank was the best Tank of the war, However it was ineffective due to been small in numbers. The problem with the Axis in Africa was that there gear was been destroyed by the Royal Navy,RAF before they even arrived to there comrades, The Axis in Africa were been starved of resources, supplies while Britain got ruled the Oceans and supply routes.
@Toddinfantry Most Historians would agree with me, That Adolf Hitler was the main problem for the Axis forces. Battle of France was Meinstein victory. Battle of Britain was failure due to Hitler, Battle of Russia failure to Hitler. Adolf Hitler who declared war on the U.S 1941, Hitler was a foolish and everybody turned against him!! 40+ attempts on the Austrian dictator life, Hitler lead Europe into Communist hands and Germany into hell for decades!!!
As for the Sherman being unable to compare to a Tiger, SO WAs THE T-34. The Sherman and T-34 had virtually identical effective front armor, virtually identical guns (with the US-made 75mm being actually slightly better an anti-tank weapon than the russian 76.2mm) and while the T-34 was slightly smaller and faster, the Sherman had much better ergonomics, radios as standard-issue, a stabilised gun (the ONLY tnak of its time to have that) and much safer ammo storage.
In fact, the Sherman was considered to be overall superior even by those russina tankers that drove both T-34s and lend-lease Shermans during the war. The Tiger was a heavy tank. Don't compare it to mediums like the T-34 or Sherman. The closest german counterpart to them in weight as well as in role was the Panzer IV.
As for Hitler being "poor", he wasn't exactly any worse than the german high command, givne they have a similar rate of fuck-ups and genius decisions.
@Magni56 It was Hitler mistakes that cost the Axis the war, Hitler was so sure that Britain would agree to peace talks, Hitler said Britain was ineffective after the Battle of Britain, BIG MISTAKE!! Hitler thought that the Axis could defeat the Red Army withing 12 weeks, BIG MISTAKE!! Hitler stopped the Axis from there secret weapon programme that would have won the war, Hitler mistakes are endless, The German generals, etc were the best out of all Allied,Reds, etc!
@martynrobin121 Normandy was lost by the axis because Hitler had full command over the Panzer divisions which could have supported the beach defenders but he was still asleep in the Alps where none of his aids had the balls to wake him.
Just naother stupid myth. The Panzer Divisions wer enever menat to directly support the beach defenses, they were meant for the counterattack. Driving them onto hte beaches would have simply seen them annihilated by airpower and naval artillery. Adn again, you're jsut ranting about without making any coherent point or responding to anything I said.
@rumrich Normandy was lost due to many reasons, Mainly due to Hitler been typical dictator who thought he was military genius. For a start Hitler thought the Allies would NOT land in Normandy, Thanks to the Allied deception plan. Also Hitler sent Axis forces to Norway, To protect a fake "invasion". The Allies had the Axis confused and paranoid, Allied Airbourne units where all over France, Also thousands of fake paratrooper were landing all over France, They didnt know what was going on.
And yet, those "best" generals committed their fair share of mistakes. In fact, Hitler overruling them was the only thing that prevented Germany losing the war in 1940.
@Magni56 Adolf Hitler was the main problem for the German and Axis forces. After France, Hitler took full control of the Axis forces and campaigns. Hitler was so sure that Soviet Union would fall within 12 weeks that we sent his Forces to fight without winter equipment and basic things. Hitler called off the Axis secret weapons, What could have won the war. Hitler who thought Britain would agree to peace talks, Hitler,hitler,hitler,hitler,hitler,hitler....
@martynrobin121 This post is incorrect also. Hitler was involved and created more problems but not until later in 1942 and early 1943. Goering lost the Battle of Britain. Hitler only called off a few of the "super weapons", many more were allowed to proceed, such as the V1, V2, V3, ME262, ME163, Maus, E-100, E150 and on and on. Keep trying though.
@Toddinfantry Hitler lost the Battle of Britain, He kept pushing the Luftwaffe and changed tactics. Hitler lost the Battle of Russia from the start, Barberossa ended in disaster due to Hitlers foolish gamble of fast victory. Battle of Moscow, Most Axis troops died from lack of supplies than fighting. The Gambles on the Eastern Front were foolish, Meinstein said Hitler was a fool. Hitler did stop secret weapons projects, And started them again TOO LATE, This is fact, They arrived 2 late!!
Nope. Russia would have still been a bloody quagmire bleeding the Whermacht into a shattered husk. As for the only prblem being Hitler: Without him, they would have failed taking France in 1940. He made the call for SIchelschnitt, against a General Staff that preferred an approach that would have played exactly into the French Dyle Plan defense.
@Magni56 The European Axis powers failed from the start in Russia, Barberossa ended in disaster with the defeat at Moscow 41, The T-34s and Soviet endless man-power proved too much for the Axis. Lenningrad,Stalingrad 42, The main Axis forces wiped out. Yet again by the endless resources of Soviet Tanks,Aircraft,Man-power,etc. Most of all the Battle of Kursk 43, Even Hitler said "Whoever wins Kursk wins the war" the Red Army proved to much for the Axis, Red Army was unstoppable by 1942!
The "Frodo Baggins" looking expert is Stephen Bungay. He wrote the absolutely best book on the Battle of Britain. He pointed out that all the most destructive raids on RAF stations were done by one Luftewaffe experimental squadron. Shows what you know ya dumb yank.
What german bombs couldn't do, the communist 'jews' are doing with the mass immigration of "negeros" and arabs. You should have listened to Enoch Powel.....you'll be destroyed soon unless you wake up.
@comanchio1976 yes thats true right to the point sent in the death squads and started killing every one. why do u thing when the russans walked into Berlin there were so hush in the way there treated the Germans do u think there got even just for the hell of getting even.. its hard to hide the true when at the time the Germans had so much blood on there hands and still the world hasnt leaned the leasses of the pass cos as time go's by mistakes r repearting them selfs .
@teddythebenny I think he meant the equipment, Most of the Allied Artillery pieces were french, the PIAT An Anti - Tank weapon used by the British Armed forces during the secound world war was actually French. there is more i just cant think of any at the moment, I hope you get what i'm trying to point out.
@MisterSam1000 The PIAT was a spigot morter, the basic designs were made by Lt Col Stewert Blacker, Royal Artillery who designed the Blacker bombard used by the home guard. The PIAT was designed as a "Baby bombard" by Major Millis Jefferis, a colleague of Blacker's at the war dept. So no French input.
@MisterSam1000 And I can think of no French artillery guns used by the other allies in WW2. the only foreign artillery piece was the 2 inch light morter which was Spanish.
No heavy bombers, only medium twin engine jobs like the HE-111 and the JU-88. No drop tanks for the Bf-109 fighter limiting its range to barely London and back. Failure of the Bf-110 as an escort fighter and the obsolete Ju-87 Stuka and Do-17 bombers. Germany tried to strategically bomb Britian with that woeful arsenal. Unbelievable they thought they could do it in the first place. The allies used 4 engine bombers for the next 4 years and it didn't destroy Germany's fighting capability.
This was britains darkest and greatest hour! When they had been humiliated in europe 1939-40 and the nazis invention of blitz warfare british looked certain to fall her empire cut off! But the british proved to the germans britain was far from defeat they came back and won battle of britain give the luftwaffe a hudge blow and they stopped and save there country fro invasion 1940 and started coming back against the axis alliance humiliating the italians in africa and then the germans BRAVEBRITISH
The 1969 Readers Digest Illustrated Story of WW2 article by Winston S Churchill states: The following totals from a detailed chart of aircraft losses in the battle of Britain from July 10 through October 31, 1940: British aircraft lost by the R.A.F. (complete write off or missing)...915 Enemy aircraft claimed by the R.A.F. and other sources...2698 Enemy Aircraft actually destroyed according to German records...1733
Who are you going to believe, Wiki "always wrong" pedia or Churchill?
Think about it though, if every Japanese held Island had a commander like Kuryibashi, America would have halted the war. The casualties would have been unbelievable and the American population would have asked for peace terms. Japan was a strong nation, if it had been better led, the USA would have lost that war.
My reasoning for this is quite simple, Japan has the means and manpower to fight at a moments notice, the USA didn't. It took 3 years to attain it.
@Plawranc the main reason the japs lost was beacause of those idiotic bonzai attacks. theres no way in hell we would've lost the pacific war you idiot
@bikepeddlar6 Out dated tactics with modern weapons has never gone well in history. But with no mobile strike force in the pacific ocean, the USA would have lost all bases in the pacific. And in that sense it would be bad. What would have been impressive is a fullscale invasion of Hawaii while the carriers are in port. THAT, would have been a fascinating chain of events.
@bikepeddlar6 Invading Australia would be like invading the US. You would run into so many farmers with guns, and have to travel such long distances that its impractical. Besides, the Australian troops when concentrated are a pretty powerful force to deal with.
"Does'nt the accent of this voice sound pro American? They who only came into this war after TB o B, to claim the spoils. Atomic power. Remember it was the Atom Bomb that saved the USA from Japan. 'Need I go on' What are you trying to prove?"

The main culprit of the world war is Churchill, not Hitler. Hitler is guilty of the war with Eastern Europe, but not with the rest. All other countries involved were a result of Britain and France starting war by Declaration, and of the USA starting war by attacking Germany without declaration. All three western powers turned a European regional conflict into a WORLD WAR.
Read British historian Martin Allen's "The Hess deception".
@Elberiver11 A little bit of Kraut in denial are we? Germany declared war on the U.S for a start,Churchill was the greatest human being of the 20th century,Germany attacked Great Britain first...oh by the way...you lost! the history of the second world war is well documented and known to people on all sides,if you choose to ignore the facts then that's your perogative,as an Englishman I can understand your embarrassment and shame in belonging to that nation,it has a very repulsive history.
@davyjones68 You stupid British people, at least i am not as hateful as you and i dont use any insults. As for denial, its your country who lies about her true history, just like you do. So Germany started war on the USA and Britain? big LOL, mate! Very funny indeed. In truth, both the USA and Britain attacked Germany first, Britain by declaration, the USA by "LEND LEASE ACT 1941" , which put her in state of war. Germany declared war on the USA months after that. Go and learn history, moron.
@davyjones68 hahaha. "kraut denial"... the word "denial" coming from a BRITISH of all people! hahaha
Mate, history is about truth, not about making you feel good about your country. You still have a lot to learn, my dear.
Just to let you know: The USA started attacking German ships in the North Sea, the Germans did not shoot back because they did not want war with the west.
All three western Allies started war on Germany - not the other way round.
@Elberiver11 Where did I say that I hated Germans?? For your information I have a degree from a reputable university in history, and am quite knowledgeable about this period,I presume from your demeanour that you have right wing leanings, I'm not going to judge you for that as that is your right, however misguided.I think you are trying to rewrite your nations own history of the 20th century in the hope that you can believe it,most Germans except the real facts about WW2 and have moved on.
@Elberiver11 "British started the war"?Bottom line is that,Hitler gambled that Britain was bluffing and would not go to war over Poland he lost the bet. Let's say for example, that if Russia attacked Canada tomorrow...knowing full well that America would be duty/treaty bound to come to Canada's aid, was then given a deadline to comply, a ton of diplomatic effort to boot-You still think that the U.S. would be the aggressor?-Have you any notion of how completely idiotic and mad that sounds?
Note that the Germans never ever started war on England in all of history - both wars between our nations were started by your ancestors. So who is in denial, you little liar?
PS: its funny you call the British historian Martin Allen "kraut denial". You seem to be quite out of your mind. lol
@Elberiver11 Yes mate. Because in 1914 Germany invaded Belgium who was neutral but had a protection treaty with Britain, and in 1939 Germany invaded Poland who had a protection treaty with Britain. What did you think we were going to do? Ingnore our obligations? And in both cases Germany was the more evil militaristic aggressor. In the case of Nazi Germany, the most evil regime ever known. In any case, you lost, we won, next time we'll nuke you into extinction.
@thatkidinthegreenhat Britain had no treaties with Austria or Czechoslovakia, so as I was telling this kraut squarehead dork the reasons Britain declared war, I did not mention them. The invasion of Poland forced Britain to declare war.
I guess you ignore the massacring of the Native Americans to the point of extinction. The many massacres the British committed establishing their colonial empire. Yet when the Soviets were murdering their millions you don't see it fit to have the West intervene there.
@thatkidinthegreenhat What an incoherent post. What has colonial history got to do with not intervening in Russia?
Britain and France made a clear promise to come to the aid of Poland if needed, at the invite of the Polish government. The Soviet internal 'strife' is a different thing altogether, the majority of the Soviet ppl were loyal to their state. Fighting to liberate a ppl who didnt want liberating, would have been a monumental act of folly..the 2 situations dont even nearly compare.
When Germany invaded the USSR entire columns of German vehicles and tanks were covered in white roses. German soldiers in the Ukraine in particular were greeted with white roses, vodka, and kisses. They had thought the Wehrmacht had come to liberate them from Stalin. Try reading a book.
@Elberiver11 Dont be so retarded. Chaimberlain did everything in his power to avoid a war with Germany, he was made to look like a fool for trusting Hitler, and was forced to resign. LLearn your history and watch the ACTUAL NEWS REPORTS AND FILM FROM THE TIME. Its all there for you to see. Chaimberlain coming back from Germany, happy that he had made a peace deal with Germany when Hitler promised him that he wouild not invade any more countries. He invaded Poland a few weeks later...
"Dont be so retarded. Chaimberlain did everything in his power to avoid a war with Germany"
Chamberlain and the French were nicely stating to Hitler you take our demands for peace otherwise war. Giving him Czech. they were not going to accept any more of from him and made that clear. Hitler backed down from war accepting the peace treaty as in 1938 he would be easily defeated.
@Bankehamreogsmadre No very true,we as a nation have done bad things, along with every other nation at some point in their history, though we can't change history can we? and denying it or trying to rewrite it only creates the opportunity for the same mistakes to be repeated, which is my argument against this German gentleman who seems to have a distorted view on what actually occurred.
@davyjones68 very repulsive history? coming from an englishman/american.....,look what you guys did to the african americans.... (slavery). look what you did to the indians....germany was just trying to expand their empire like any other civilization has done in the past 10,000 and plus years. dont hate on an entire country cause one man wanted to invade and start a war...the soldiers were just doing as they were told. and the holocaust wasnt even known by most germans until the war was over...
@JellyBelly6262 I don't hate Germany or German people I've been there many times, what I don't like is somebody who denies what really happened,do you deny that German history in the early part of the 20th century is not repulsive? the same can be argued for British,Spanish,French,American history previous centuries, sorry if I came across as hating Germans, nothing could be further from the truth,I hate nobody.
Britain declared War and launched the 1st civilian attacks on Germany. Britain began developing terror bombing oriented 4 engine long range bombers long before Germany. You dont need to advertise yourself as English its self evident from your simplistic jingoistic blather. Get an education your country has a long complicated history with many dark chapters that you choose to whitewash. Please tell me what other chapters in Germanys 1000 yr history that are so "repulsive".
...and with that mindless and otherwise worthless comment you've just shown yourself to be a bigot aaannd....a hypocrite. Well done. And no response to what I said either. Useless cunt.
@davyjones68 One must not judge an intire nation that has history that goes back to the Roman times. They did horrible things true but that was only around 12 years all but together. Out of more then 2000.
@davyjones68 Well, that was also thanks to the United States shipping Britain pretty much everything, and even fielding their own equipment. You could at least thank the yanks, even before Hitler "declared war", for shipping convoys in the 30s. And yes, he was the greatest. Much better than the Liberal idiot named "FDR." Too bad we didn't have good conservatives then... :/ America = Welfare Pig.
would just like to point out that america sent nothing for free, the bill of billions of pounds was only finally paid off a few years ago.they also sent a lot of equipment that was obsolete, old and plain rusty(the destroyers for example had bin sat in storage for 20 years awaiting scrapping when they were sold to us).the americans seem very keen to point out how much they helped little ol' britain.they did indeed but they gave us sod all for free, would be nice if they cut the condescending crap.
America won the war, this is a lie. The Spitfire was an American plane flown by Americans. The British had no planes all they had was swords & horses and a few rifles. The Americans came to save the cowardy Brits. Chrchill wasnt a real man it was an American ship, he was American.
This is British propaganda we should of kept England after we kicked the Nazis out. We should of freed the Irish as well from the raping baby killing Brits. Up the IRA, God Bless America
Hitler actually had a lot of respect for the British, their way of life, the fact they ruled an empire the sun never set on, it wouldn't be totally crazy to say he admired them. He wanted to beat them, get them out of the way so he could focus on his real long term goal, acquiring more land for his master Aryan Race and empire, by beating the Soviets forcing the Russians they didn't kill into Siberia.

bakugancollecterZ 1 day ago
@bakugancollecterZ but isnt it a contradiction not one of the former colonies sympathizes with them, however there is an admiration for the german efforts during the war, even if at times a covert, even irish of all people, next door anglo-saxons collaborated with the nazis and kept their embassies open during the war,in egypt a museum is dedicated entirely to rommel, the fall of france is celebrated in the arab world, etc
drtusi 21 hours ago
@drtusi Nazis = cruel murdering racist dictators, they wanted world domination, everyone knows that, the allies knew that if Germany ruled the world things will take a turn for the worse, WWII did have SOME advantages, but in the end, the economy fell, and it practically ruined the world as we know it, Nazi Germany was destroyed, and it will never return again, Germany returned to it's once proud state.

Obviously not all of them were shot down, the main objective of RAF were the bombers, big and slow targets. Most of the footage of "stuka" destruction in this video comes from Poland actually.

stereotypical Americans saying they saved us in the war well put it this way if the Germans had taken the UK then tell me how the hell would you have put your men on European soil and reach Germany....? answer you couldn't because you needed Britain as a base for landing Americans in France.......so next time remember that.
gladifly 4 months ago
@gladifly Before jumping on ppl, one should know his history and you do not. Before the US even started staging in Great Britain for the Normandy landings, they had already landed in Italy (Operation Husky July 1943) and right after Overlord southern France was invaded. I think there were some places to go other than from Great Britian.
Toddinfantry 3 months ago
@Toddinfantry the troops in operation husky landed in italy from north africa and it was the british who kicked the germans out of africa.
gladifly 3 months ago
@gladifly So Operation Torch means nothing to you. Granted the British bore the majority of the fight in N Africa but never did close the deal until the Axis were pinched between to forces. And don't forget, the British were very materially challenged during this campaign, would the turn out be the same without all the help. Of course the Sicilian invasion came out of N. Africa, that's why the US got so involved. They wanted to attack from N Africa to the "soft underbelly" as Churchill put it.
Toddinfantry 3 months ago

NearAbbeyRoad 7 months ago
@NearAbbeyRoad That is why it is called the Battle of Britain, not the Battle for Britain. And basically, either is correct. Had the Luftwaffe beaten the RAF and gotten air superiority the way would have been opened for an invasion of the British mainlands. Also, the Germans had allotted many U-Boats for support during an invasion. They realized that the Royal Navy outclassed what the German Navy had, even with air superiority. The deciding factor was to have been the U-Boats.
Toddinfantry 3 months ago
@Toddinfantry

Bombing cities made it possible for RAF to replace destroyed aircraft.

davyjones68 8 months ago
@TheBalkanian It was a time of war...all is fair in love and war,Hitler needed to be defeated by any means, unfortunately in hindsight area bombing didn't work and accounted for thousands of deaths, but calling it a war crime is a grey area, they were our enemy and did just as bad if not worse to us.
davyjones68 8 months ago
@TheBalkanian You will find that the British government enacted the Slave Trade Act in 1807 which abolished the slave trade in the Empire. Are the Ghurkha's slaves? that century was the age of Empires if it wasn't the British it would of been the Portuguese or French or Spanish, the fact is Great Britain started the industrial revolution and became a global power because of it,we had massive goods to trade, and that is the primary reason the Empire existed,it did more good than bad.
davyjones68 8 months ago
@TheBalkanian At that time it was believed that Dresden had over 120 factories and a large industrial area contributing to the Nazi war effort, plus German troops fleeing west from the Russians needed warmth and shelter,we denied them that luxury,,secondly the British Empire was built mainly on trade, and if we "enslaved" most of those people you refer to...then how come they fought bravely along side us in the war?

"If England and France help Poland fight nazis in 1939 This war could take only 1 month"
CORRECT! France could have moved right into Germany; only went a few kms through abandoned villages. Germany lost 1/3 of its equipment in Poland and was in no fit state to face France if French troops took the fight right into Germany - France had more, and better, tanks. The British then could have mobilized (takes time) to come in after the French had moved forward.

@michaelstarwars45 Yes, the equipment was not free, but would we give equipment just for free? Hell, we even gave food, oil and clothing to Russia's men, and just about everything TO the English. The Axis had the great leaders, technology, weapons, tanks, soldiers There only problem was Hitler.
martynrobin121 10 months ago 12
@martynrobin121 Ahahahaha, really? The United States gave everything from fuel to food. Britain was nothing without its ally. Also, yes, it was a great victory in stopping Operation Sea Lion (Invasion of Britain) by literally cutting down German air superiority, that would have crushed British warplanes, just as Japan and the Repulse/Prince of Wales. Also, Britain barely did anything in the Pacific. It was us who took the Pacific. Totally different war.
Tyco200 5 months ago
@martynrobin121 Also, without America, Britain would've dissapeared. Without America, there would be no D-Day, without America, there wouldn't be the Grant or the amazing Sherman. Without America, Germany would've kept their industrial facilities building tanks without being bombed upon! Without the U.S, WWII would've been an Axis Victory. Face it. As for Russia? HAHA! Dream on.
shankly01 5 months ago in playlist shankly01's Favorited Videos
@Tyco200 YOUR DUMB! D-Day wasnt even vital part of the war, Infact D-Day was more about stopping Communism, The Facists forces were long defeated. And the Sherman Tank was one of the worst tanks of the war! And the R.A.F started to bomb Axis industry in 1939, Years before the Americans joined in. The British were winning long before the U.S forces arrived, And had Rommel on the run in N.Africa. And the Soviet Union played the main role during the war, They were unstoppable!
martynrobin121 5 months ago
@martynrobin121 Ahaha! D-Day was about giving us a third front, you retard. We pushed in from Normandy all the way to Czechoslovakia thanks to Normandy in the first place. And worst tanks of the war? Dude, you truly are an idiot. Shermans armed with 76mm guns could kill Panthers with both the APCB at 1000-1,200 meters, and on some accounts, killed Panthers at 1,600 meters. British Sherman got nicknamed "Tommy cookers" mainly due to British crews cramming ammo wherever they could store it. Fail.
Tyco200 5 months ago
@Tyco200 D-Day wasnt even a vital part of the war against the Axis, It was more vital to stop the Soviets taking Europe! And you talk like the Sherman tank was a good tank, It was a death trap! Also both British and U.S supplies to the Soviet Union were very small, The Soviets produced there own Tanks,Aircraft,Fod,Weapons,Ammo just research! Yes, The U.S lendlease to Britain 1941 was vital and by 1943 most of the British war effort was coming from the U.S.
martynrobin121 5 months ago
@martynrobin121 I love your anti-American hatred. Truly makes you look like a fool. And who gave you extra pilots, material, fuel, food and supplies? Who gave the USSR their tanks, food and even clothing in the early days?... What were some of the first ships to go down? Oh, American! Also, if America were not there, the RAF would've stayed to night-time air raids. American air bombings truly destroyed the Axis industries. Without it, you would've truly failed. Your info is flawed.
Tyco200 5 months ago
@Tyco200 The U.S never gave Britain pilots, Free-men from America and around the world came to Britain out of FREE-WILL. And the British traded with the U.S, We bought everything. Britain never got a lendlease till 1941. And the Soviets produced there own Tanks,Aircraft,Food, etc even Britain sent the Soviets Tanks,Aircraft, etc. And your an idioit, Allied bombing of Axis industry did very little, Infact 1944 the Axis were making more Tanks, etc than in 1938! Just research!
martynrobin121 5 months ago
@martynrobin121
The Sherman was one of the worst? Given that it was quite on par with the late Panzer IV and T-34, that'd make the overwhelming majortiy of the tanks in the war "the worst".
Magni56 4 months ago
@Magni56 When the European Axis forces invaded the Soviet Union 1941, They shit themself, The Red Army had a better tank, T-34 was the ultimate Tank that won the war, Even Hitler said so after Kursk. Infact the Tiger tank was produced as a secret weapon against the T-34s. And the Sherman tank was not a very good tank, Sherman could not compare to the Tiger, Its like a Cat and rat! Also Adolf hitler was very poor military leader, German high command thought he was insane!!
martynrobin121 4 months ago
@martynrobin121
Magni56 4 months ago
@Magni56 Hitler saw the Tiger tank as a secret weapon against the Red Army tanks. However the Tiger arrived too late and not enough were built. When the Germans saw the T-34 tank they shit themselfs, The Subhuman Russains had abetter tank! When Rommel first met the Sherman tanks 42, Most of the Axis tanks,Aircraft, supplies had been wiped out, The British 8th Army could replace there loses, The Axis found it hard just to get there supplies past the Royal Navy and to feed there forces!
martynrobin121 4 months ago
@martynrobin121
Magni56 4 months ago
@Magni56 The Tiger tank was too few to be effective, Also it arrived late in the war and was hard to mass produce. Yes the Tiger tank was the best Tank of the war, However it was ineffective due to been small in numbers. The problem with the Axis in Africa was that there gear was been destroyed by the Royal Navy,RAF before they even arrived to there comrades, The Axis in Africa were been starved of resources, supplies while Britain got ruled the Oceans and supply routes.

Toddinfantry 3 months ago
@Toddinfantry Most Historians would agree with me, That Adolf Hitler was the main problem for the Axis forces. Battle of France was Meinstein victory. Battle of Britain was failure due to Hitler, Battle of Russia failure to Hitler. Adolf Hitler who declared war on the U.S 1941, Hitler was a foolish and everybody turned against him!! 40+ attempts on the Austrian dictator life, Hitler lead Europe into Communist hands and Germany into hell for decades!!!
martynrobin121 3 months ago
@martynrobin121
Magni56 4 months ago
@martynrobin121
Magni56 4 months ago
@Magni56 It was Hitler mistakes that cost the Axis the war, Hitler was so sure that Britain would agree to peace talks, Hitler said Britain was ineffective after the Battle of Britain, BIG MISTAKE!! Hitler thought that the Axis could defeat the Red Army withing 12 weeks, BIG MISTAKE!! Hitler stopped the Axis from there secret weapon programme that would have won the war, Hitler mistakes are endless, The German generals, etc were the best out of all Allied,Reds, etc!
martynrobin121 4 months ago
@martynrobin121 Normandy was lost by the axis because Hitler had full command over the Panzer divisions which could have supported the beach defenders but he was still asleep in the Alps where none of his aids had the balls to wake him.
rumrich 4 months ago
@rumrich
Magni56 4 months ago
@rumrich Normandy was lost due to many reasons, Mainly due to Hitler been typical dictator who thought he was military genius. For a start Hitler thought the Allies would NOT land in Normandy, Thanks to the Allied deception plan. Also Hitler sent Axis forces to Norway, To protect a fake "invasion". The Allies had the Axis confused and paranoid, Allied Airbourne units where all over France, Also thousands of fake paratrooper were landing all over France, They didnt know what was going on.
martynrobin121 4 months ago
@martynrobin121
And yet, those "best" generals committed their fair share of mistakes. In fact, Hitler overruling them was the only thing that prevented Germany losing the war in 1940.
Magni56 4 months ago
@Magni56 Adolf Hitler was the main problem for the German and Axis forces. After France, Hitler took full control of the Axis forces and campaigns. Hitler was so sure that Soviet Union would fall within 12 weeks that we sent his Forces to fight without winter equipment and basic things. Hitler called off the Axis secret weapons, What could have won the war. Hitler who thought Britain would agree to peace talks, Hitler,hitler,hitler,hitler,hitler,hitler....
martynrobin121 4 months ago
@martynrobin121 This post is incorrect also. Hitler was involved and created more problems but not until later in 1942 and early 1943. Goering lost the Battle of Britain. Hitler only called off a few of the "super weapons", many more were allowed to proceed, such as the V1, V2, V3, ME262, ME163, Maus, E-100, E150 and on and on. Keep trying though.
Toddinfantry 3 months ago
@Toddinfantry Hitler lost the Battle of Britain, He kept pushing the Luftwaffe and changed tactics. Hitler lost the Battle of Russia from the start, Barberossa ended in disaster due to Hitlers foolish gamble of fast victory. Battle of Moscow, Most Axis troops died from lack of supplies than fighting. The Gambles on the Eastern Front were foolish, Meinstein said Hitler was a fool. Hitler did stop secret weapons projects, And started them again TOO LATE, This is fact, They arrived 2 late!!
martynrobin121 3 months ago
@martynrobin121
Magni56 4 months ago

MisterSam1000 11 months ago
@MisterSam1000 The PIAT was a spigot morter, the basic designs were made by Lt Col Stewert Blacker, Royal Artillery who designed the Blacker bombard used by the home guard. The PIAT was designed as a "Baby bombard" by Major Millis Jefferis, a colleague of Blacker's at the war dept. So no French input.
SvenTviking 11 months ago
@MisterSam1000 And I can think of no French artillery guns used by the other allies in WW2. the only foreign artillery piece was the 2 inch light morter which was Spanish.
SvenTviking 11 months ago
technologically advanced france ? the french only had a hand full of bombers.. if i recall 2 in 1938... equivalent to the Germans

The French had a larger army, more tanks and superior tanks and as many planes.

Plawranc 1 year ago
@Plawranc moments notice? they had been preparing for military aggression since at least the early '30s.

@Plawranc the main reason the japs lost was beacause of those idiotic bonzai attacks. theres no way in hell we would've lost the pacific war you idiot
bikepeddlar6 1 year ago
@bikepeddlar6 Out dated tactics with modern weapons has never gone well in history. But with no mobile strike force in the pacific ocean, the USA would have lost all bases in the pacific. And in that sense it would be bad. What would have been impressive is a fullscale invasion of Hawaii while the carriers are in port. THAT, would have been a fascinating chain of events.
Plawranc 1 year ago
@Plawranc thats pretty bold coming from someone who would've been invaded by the japs had we not come.
bikepeddlar6 1 year ago
@bikepeddlar6 Invading Australia would be like invading the US. You would run into so many farmers with guns, and have to travel such long distances that its impractical. Besides, the Australian troops when concentrated are a pretty powerful force to deal with.

Elberiver11 11 months ago
@Elberiver11 Where did I say that I hated Germans?? For your information I have a degree from a reputable university in history, and am quite knowledgeable about this period,I presume from your demeanour that you have right wing leanings, I'm not going to judge you for that as that is your right, however misguided.I think you are trying to rewrite your nations own history of the 20th century in the hope that you can believe it,most Germans except the real facts about WW2 and have moved on.
davyjones68 11 months ago
@Elberiver11 "British started the war"?Bottom line is that,Hitler gambled that Britain was bluffing and would not go to war over Poland he lost the bet. Let's say for example, that if Russia attacked Canada tomorrow...knowing full well that America would be duty/treaty bound to come to Canada's aid, was then given a deadline to comply, a ton of diplomatic effort to boot-You still think that the U.S. would be the aggressor?-Have you any notion of how completely idiotic and mad that sounds?
comanchio1976 10 months ago
Note that the Germans never ever started war on England in all of history - both wars between our nations were started by your ancestors. So who is in denial, you little liar?
PS: its funny you call the British historian Martin Allen "kraut denial". You seem to be quite out of your mind. lol
Elberiver11 11 months ago
@Elberiver11 Yes mate. Because in 1914 Germany invaded Belgium who was neutral but had a protection treaty with Britain, and in 1939 Germany invaded Poland who had a protection treaty with Britain. What did you think we were going to do? Ingnore our obligations? And in both cases Germany was the more evil militaristic aggressor. In the case of Nazi Germany, the most evil regime ever known. In any case, you lost, we won, next time we'll nuke you into extinction.

@Elberiver11 If you for a second think that it even matters that Britain and the US attacked Germany, you are completely bonkers.
You choose to ignore the fact that there was a very genuine reason to start a war with Germany.
You must be one of these crazy, residual Nazi's who think that killing 6 million people in cold blood is OK.
Not to mention all of the other civilians who no doubt got murdered as you made your way across Europe.
tjbayliss 11 months ago
I guess you ignore the massacring of the Native Americans to the point of extinction. The many massacres the British committed establishing their colonial empire. Yet when the Soviets were murdering their millions you don't see it fit to have the West intervene there.
thatkidinthegreenhat 10 months ago
@thatkidinthegreenhat What an incoherent post. What has colonial history got to do with not intervening in Russia?
Britain and France made a clear promise to come to the aid of Poland if needed, at the invite of the Polish government. The Soviet internal 'strife' is a different thing altogether, the majority of the Soviet ppl were loyal to their state. Fighting to liberate a ppl who didnt want liberating, would have been a monumental act of folly..the 2 situations dont even nearly compare.
comanchio1976 10 months ago
When Germany invaded the USSR entire columns of German vehicles and tanks were covered in white roses. German soldiers in the Ukraine in particular were greeted with white roses, vodka, and kisses. They had thought the Wehrmacht had come to liberate them from Stalin. Try reading a book.

Chamberlain and the French were nicely stating to Hitler you take our demands for peace otherwise war. Giving him Czech. they were not going to accept any more of from him and made that clear. Hitler backed down from war accepting the peace treaty as in 1938 he would be easily defeated.

@Bankehamreogsmadre No very true,we as a nation have done bad things, along with every other nation at some point in their history, though we can't change history can we? and denying it or trying to rewrite it only creates the opportunity for the same mistakes to be repeated, which is my argument against this German gentleman who seems to have a distorted view on what actually occurred.
davyjones68 9 months ago
@davyjones68 very repulsive history? coming from an englishman/american.....,look what you guys did to the african americans.... (slavery). look what you did to the indians....germany was just trying to expand their empire like any other civilization has done in the past 10,000 and plus years. dont hate on an entire country cause one man wanted to invade and start a war...the soldiers were just doing as they were told. and the holocaust wasnt even known by most germans until the war was over...

Britain declared War and launched the 1st civilian attacks on Germany. Britain began developing terror bombing oriented 4 engine long range bombers long before Germany. You dont need to advertise yourself as English its self evident from your simplistic jingoistic blather.
