very good video. RIP for those who sacrificed their lives so that I may enjoy my freedom with security. I am joining the ranks, as a Army UAV OP. Glad to serve my Country Proudly.
HA Jason M. Castricone (8404) here to tell you that this job is awesome but its scary. I'm only 19 but I get to tell all my high school friends that went to college about what I do and show them pictures and they all get really jealous :P Proud of what me and so many others have done, are doing, and will continue to do.
Thanks for posting this tribute. My son is an FMF Corpsman and will see Afghanistan after the first of the year (2012). Needless to say I will be worried sick about him until he returns. He told me he wants to tag out a Corpsman and send him back home to his family. May God Bless our military, and a special blessing for the DOCS.
Man this video is motovaiting as hell. I just graduated from EMT school last week and im strongly thinking about joining the Navy and doing the whole corpsman thing. Much love and respect for these men and women.
i ship june 28th for boot camp. im going in as an hm but i really wanna do eod and eventually seals. regardless i think hm is a great stepping stone too either of the two.
I was a Hospital Corpsman from 1988 until 1996, and I was extremely proud to have served my country in this capacity. " A Corpsman is a sailor with certain medical skills who would go through the very gates of hell to treat a wounded marine." anon. Most people haven't the slightest clue what a Corpsman is. Thank you for such a eye opening tribute to a special group of people.

love the video, and for all those out there that think that our military is doing wrong, just shut up if we wouldntve gone in there would have probabley been another attack by now
Retired as a Navy Corpman in Jan 88, from the Air Wing at Cherry Point, did several tours with the Grunts. Watching this video brought back many memories. I actually wish I could do it again
I am an old Corpsman, I served in Viet Nam with 1st Mar Div. I am proud to have been part of the Few, and the Proud. Docs took care of our Marine, but also our Marines took very good care of us. SEMPER FI!
@Fuzionrider it really depends on you, to be honest, it was not hard for me, but i have seen a lot of people drop out of my class during training, and also they are gonna be tough on you, The HM rate is the most highly decorated rate in military history, earning more medal of honors than medics in any other branch of the military, and we also run with the FEW and the PROUD, it is bragging rights up for grabs, do you think you have what it takes? thats js my experience though
@sdopfel it is the same standard set foward by the US Navy, but once you go into Field Medic Training Battalion with the US Marines to become FMF( Fleet Marine Force) HM, things get tough, you basically become one of the Marines and their lives are in your hands
@chandlerswatch619 HOORAH!! several guys in a bar learned the hard way in San Diego when i was attached to 1st mar div in pendleton as their HM, i never got to lay my hands on them because my marines got to them too fast lol
Outstanding video, powerful and touching, it re-ignites the pride in me that I served as an FMF DevilDoc and ran around with the loudest, smelliest, smartest and bravest group of guys I will ever know.
thank you for this beautiful video!! My son, HM3 John D. House,,, KIA 1/26/05... was very proud of being an FMF Corpsman... and loved his Marines.... tragically he was killed with 30 of them on 1/26/05......at times the pain is so overwhelming.. I feel I can't breath....thank you for this beautiful tribute.
As the mother of a corpsman I am in awe of the sacrifice your son and your entire family have made. My heart aches for you. I have lost 2 sons, not through military conflict, but can feel your pain all the same. There just are no words.
Ma'am, I never knew your your son but, I wanted to give you my regards and thank you. I could never feel what you have felt as a mother. Every day, I tell my daughters of the men and women who have sacrificed in the hopes that they will realize what a great nation we live in. Rest assured Mother, my children will know your Son's name and will sing songs of his bravery. With warm regards.
@dochousemom I'm so sorry for your lost. But I know your heart is filled with pride for your son, he sounds like a great young man and I wish I could have met him. The world needs more men like him, those who put themselves in harms way to help others. God bless.
I assisted in putting to rest HM3 Mendezaceves. I was an RP3 at the time and an acolyte (altar assistant). The funeral Mass was very emotional even for me and the Chaplain (Lt. Tiongson) I started off as an HM but felt called to the divine.
..I have a special connection with Corpsman..and honor their deep servitude and great help.
The mother screamed and wept as we carried her son away..after we put holy water and incensed his coffin as the Roman Rite calls for...he is with God now........
i cant belive there is a dislike. but great video.
