this is a very nice version indeed :) jag talar inte svenska...but I like the nightmarish feel to it. On google search for Птаха и 5 Плюх - Не бойся or Ри - Глубокий лес (watch the appropriate videoclips to really appreciate them). Those two songs make me think of nightmares as well, for some reason I find it cool that artists can do that to someone. You don't even have to speak the language, it's so hypnotising, just like this Byssan Lull. What does it mean? It's not translated or something
The music and the voice is extremely haunting and amazingly good.
When I first downloaded the demo, it was this song that made me purchase the game instantly. It captivated me so much that I just had to complete the game.
Apart from the subtitled lyrics which are already included in the video, the original Swedish lyrics as well as another English translation is available in the blog post which is linked in the video description.
I totally agree. While Act I was indeed pretty much a stroll in the park, Acts II and III got much more challenging with the positioning of the fireflies, the monsters, being in open space and also with the black / white wall following. Several deaths were involved! :D but trying to get all fireflies is a real challenge - did you completely finish it yet? with 100% fireflies caught?
Meh... I also understand Swedish even tho I'm russian speaking. And I think u gotta be seriously damaged in the head if you find this song ugly :( Of course, it's a subjective matter, e.g. I didn't like the game at all, thought it was a waste of fantastic graphX and music on a bad gameplay. But dude... the song is beautiful! In fact, it's my fave interpretation of Taube's song.
Feel free to dislike the song, but at least get your facts straight (or better yet, read the video description before posting).
The developer is American (Lucasarts) - not Japanese - and there's no evidence that the Norse god of lightning had anything to do with the choice of music in this game.

What I mean is that "the developeR" aka one developer, (and you didn't seriously believe that I thought this game was made by ONE person?) that chose to include this tune was japanese, or at least of japanese heritage (The newspaper didn't specify which one).
And probably this tune isn't old enough to be associated with the vikings, But the japanese guys opinion was that it sounded a bit viking themed, and it was after all Swedish.
Think a bit further before posting next time, please. -.-
Again, unless you start using the standard method for presenting factual claims (i.e. by providing references which other people can verify for themselves), you should refrain from making assertions about individual developers' intentions and supposed penchants for Scandinavian mythology.
However, if you DO have relevant links - or at least a name for the "newspaper" you mentioned - which support your claims, I'd be happy to add that info to the video description on the left.
I also waited on the menu to hear this. Its fucking awesome! It reminds now of some nightmare before christmas crazy shit. Can you send me the .mp3 of this?
@CaliforniaTD I know your comment is a year old, but I can't help to answer :P It is made eerie because the game wants it that way :P It's not this eerie normally x)
Look up Lokka Tattur for a great version of this lullaby sung in Faroese =)

@calsifer8 Haha, ignoring some minor mistakes, the biggest one is probably "kärnor" instead of "stjärnor", (kärnor = seeds, stjärnor = stars).

Not the best version of this awesomely beautiful Taube song, but kinda awesome that they have it in a game O.o. Lucasart has good taste :D

I liked the game. It seems most didn't though. It was very relaxing and more challenging than most give it credit for.

The developer that added this (Japanese I believe) said "I wanted something that Thor himself could have listened too."
I think the developer was working with a swede, so they chose this song.
However, for me as a swede, this song is just pretty ugly. Would've been better if I wouldn't know the language.

My only source for the statement is called "DN" (Dagens nyheter), to be precise, the "KULTUR"-part. Where they actually had an article on the subject.
That is also why I watched this clip.
Also note that I didn't say this clip had ANYTHING to do with scandinavian mythology, just that the japanese guy thought it fit such a theme.
