@DistrictLenin Well i can't argue with that. The M-16 is a light weight weapon and it was easy to carry around. There was barely any recoil in the gun with the help of a gas piston on the barrel. The AK-47 is a powerful assault rifle but the recoil is horrible on this gun. It's very heavy becouse of the wood and steel and over heating was common. I choose an M-16 becouse i shot both of them many times and the M-16 out done it, it was an amazing rifle I guess people are entitled buy their opinion

I think they are both great weapons. Ak 47 has more power behind it but the m16 has better accuracy over range. Both are are highly used, the AK beats the m16 in this department however, the AK is also used by just about everybody anywere in the world and is cheap to make as well as repair and maintain. I go with the m16 though. I just think its a much more professional rifle and I loooooove that extra accuracy.
The only thing that you can ever credit the AK47 with is the piston system. Other than that with its massive recoil (due to the lack of any recoil dampening system) only allows the user an accurate (even though it is inaccurate to begin with because this gun is only meant for mass production) with the first bullet. That is why there is no assault rifle that still resembles it today. The best assault rifle is the HK416 since it is highly tested and WAS THE WEAPON THAT KILLED OSAMA!
WTF??? This comparison is for the M-16 and the AK-74!! "74" you retards!!! The AK-74 is almost completely different from the 47. It uses 5.45mm instead of 7.62mm. The smaller caliber gives the 74 a softer recoil and better accuracy and it's a tad lighter. This video's loader is specifying the AK-74 to keep in par with the M-16. The AK-74 was supposed to replace the 47 but the USSR and the Warsaw Pact Countries collapsed. The AK-47's cheapness is what keeps it going....
@nikemac84 ak-74 is the official weapon of the russian soldiers since the 80's ak-47 is now only a reserve/training weapon and also for international sell, but is reliable weapon anyway.

When u compare them u gota factor training/cleaning time and cost to produce and reliable in any condition its the ak-47. Don't get me wrong m-16 is very nice and has the eadge in ballistics due to the tumble effect. But training your army ak-47 is the best starting platform

I love them both, i dont think I would be able to choose just one or the other. I used them both while in israel on a military tourism trip. We got to shoot a lot more than just those though. we shot all kinds of handguns, rifles, and even a few sniper rifles. Also go to go offroading, skydiving, and learn krav maga. @IzhPlanetaSport I would use the M16 in a situation like large, open fields with some modded M14s being rolled out for longer engagements. AK47 is good for stuff like swamp and jungle fighting, where pinpoint accuracy isnt needed since engagements are closer.

Clearly Ak 74 is better, M16-A1 jammed a lot in the Vietnam War, but i rather prefer ak 47 (for the look) obviously, the ak 74 has 5.56 rounds (or something like that) so its recoil will be way softer than the recoil of the Ak 47

I the Russian soldier and I really know what device better - it АК-47. All its charm - the mechanism of emission of a sleeve. In difference from М-16 the sleeve at first is turned in a trunk and then only is thrown out - there is no cartridge jamming.
@545Krinkify I agree, which is why I own an AK47 that I keep in my pad for a SHTF event. But out in the field overseas I had no problem carrying around the M4. I enjoyed its ergonomics, lighter weight, ease of mag exchange, scope/accessories to go with it. Different weapons for different missions. That's why if I'm forced to go with a lighter round I'll stick to the 223/5.56 caliber.
@damiion66 the 74 has more penetration and velocity less initial shot accuracy though. on full automatic fire is one of the worlds most controllable assault rifles not to mention one of the most reliable me personally prefer to kill not wound so m14 or ak47 that does shoot through and engine block or a tree trunk and kill the enemy behind is an obvious advantage. soldiers prefer reliability and killing power over accuracy since most skirmishes we never see the enemy they hide in cover.
It's stupid to compare these two. It's like saying which one's better a mongoloid or a caucasian. It's like doing natural selection between two different species of animals. A better one would be which one is better, AK47 or AK74 or AK100. You control all the variables and can focus on one or two because of similarities in design.
The M-16 is more precise, but the AK is more reliable and causes more damage, not to mention that it's easier to use, produce and take care of. I'd choose the AK ANY time, but the M-16 is still a great rifle.

@thegermexican935 Hey sunshine the AK-47 is what I would be using rather than any AR varient. On single shot within 200 metres if I open fire then you are dropped. Up close the AK can spread with plenty of control, unlike an M16. The enemy in Afghanistan (note how you spell it) are often engaged in close quaters at ranges of 50 metres. The fact it is still standard issue since 1947 means a lot. Reliability and predictability are what you need in a weapon.

Don't get me wrong the ak platform is a good weapon system but that's about all that's good as far as russian hardware. Their tanks are junk and blow up easily due to their munitions storage, aircraft...while good, not the best. "Cheap and rugged" can only get u so far.

If you just compare the stats, Russian tank's (newest) reactive armour is still better.

I think they are both great weapons. Ak 47 has more power behind it but the m16 has better accuracy over range. Both are are highly used, the AK beats the m16 in this department however, the AK is also used by just about everybody anywere in the world and is cheap to make as well as repair and maintain. I go with the m16 though. I just think its a much more professional rifle and I loooooove that extra accuracy.

The only thing that you can ever credit the AK47 with is the piston system. Other than that with its massive recoil (due to the lack of any recoil dampening system) only allows the user an accurate (even though it is inaccurate to begin with because this gun is only meant for mass production) with the first bullet. That is why there is no assault rifle that still resembles it today. The best assault rifle is the HK416 since it is highly tested and WAS THE WEAPON THAT KILLED OSAMA!

WTF??? This comparison is for the M-16 and the AK-74!! "74" you retards!!! The AK-74 is almost completely different from the 47. It uses 5.45mm instead of 7.62mm. The smaller caliber gives the 74 a softer recoil and better accuracy and it's a tad lighter. This video's loader is specifying the AK-74 to keep in par with the M-16. The AK-74 was supposed to replace the 47 but the USSR and the Warsaw Pact Countries collapsed. The AK-47's cheapness is what keeps it going....

I love them both, i dont think I would be able to choose just one or the other. I used them both while in israel on a military tourism trip. We got to shoot a lot more than just those though. we shot all kinds of handguns, rifles, and even a few sniper rifles. Also go to go offroading, skydiving, and learn krav maga. @IzhPlanetaSport I would use the M16 in a situation like large, open fields with some modded M14s being rolled out for longer engagements. AK47 is good for stuff like swamp and jungle fighting, where pinpoint accuracy isnt needed since engagements are closer.

Clearly Ak 74 is better, M16-A1 jammed a lot in the Vietnam War, but i rather prefer ak 47 (for the look) obviously, the ak 74 has 5.56 rounds (or something like that) so its recoil will be way softer than the recoil of the Ak 47

The 5.45 soviet has worse ballistics than a .22lr and the recoil and accuracy still suck. The HK416 and FN SCAR are both M16 based and are MORE reliable than AKs as well as shooting heavier rounds and Hundreds of rounds faster. There's a reason AKs are called vintage. No bolt catch, worst right handed fireselector, 600 rmps. The Germans have always made better weapons.

I the Russian soldier and I really know what device better - it АК-47. All its charm - the mechanism of emission of a sleeve. In difference from М-16 the sleeve at first is turned in a trunk and then only is thrown out - there is no cartridge jamming.

@545Krinkify I agree, which is why I own an AK47 that I keep in my pad for a SHTF event. But out in the field overseas I had no problem carrying around the M4. I enjoyed its ergonomics, lighter weight, ease of mag exchange, scope/accessories to go with it. Different weapons for different missions. That's why if I'm forced to go with a lighter round I'll stick to the 223/5.56 caliber.

@damiion66 the 74 has more penetration and velocity less initial shot accuracy though. on full automatic fire is one of the worlds most controllable assault rifles not to mention one of the most reliable me personally prefer to kill not wound so m14 or ak47 that does shoot through and engine block or a tree trunk and kill the enemy behind is an obvious advantage. soldiers prefer reliability and killing power over accuracy since most skirmishes we never see the enemy they hide in cover.

@thegermexican935 Hey sunshine the AK-47 is what I would be using rather than any AR varient. On single shot within 200 metres if I open fire then you are dropped. Up close the AK can spread with plenty of control, unlike an M16. The enemy in Afghanistan (note how you spell it) are often engaged in close quaters at ranges of 50 metres. The fact it is still standard issue since 1947 means a lot. Reliability and predictability are what you need in a weapon.

They have to be cleaned around once a week, the same as an AK. They both have their ups and downs, goods and bads, though they are both great weapons. The AK is better for situations where is is under 150 meters and the M16 is better above that.

Personally I'd rather have the versatility, accuracy, and ergonomics that my M4 provided. To this day I have both platforms as a civilian because I think each system brings something to the table. But in a shtf situation I'll take my M4.

@damiion666 personaly i think your an idiot. accuracy doesnt mean shit when most your targets are 100yrds away. and putting up with a few extra ounces never hurt anyone. and cleaning an M4 will not make it as reliable as the ak47. NEVER not even after a piston upgrade. sorry but thats the facts
you can takeyour shitty m4 for TSHTF but carry a few extra cleening kits withyou too.

The reason why is because it has few parts. the parts are bigger and it has loose tolerances. the M4 has moe parts, smaller parts and tght tolerences.
you can think im crazy for wanting a gun that jams less often in combat but it will not be me calling for my mother with my guts hanging out either

@4everUSNavy Dude you're giving me weapons specs that I, as well as, most gun enthusuasts already know. Yes yes simpler design, loose tolerances. That's all great and all but I'm still calling bullshit on u ever using any of these weapons platforms out in the field. Most of today's military battle rifles, including today's M4 carbine, are pretty efficient as far as reliability as long as u do the maintenance. And to pretend the ak never jams is yet another noobie myth only a Ytuber would believe

How about someone who is constantly under attack and have no time to clean/take apart the weapon?
What do you think a battle is? Everyone go at it during the day, and rtb to rest until next morning???
AK-74 is battle-tested in Afghanistan without problems; M4 experienced catastropic failure in the same region 10+ years later.
Either Soviet soldiers are so awesome at making their weapons sparkly shine or there is something wrong with the M4.

@adadqgg Funny I had no problem in iraq with my M4 and u forget we get fire support along with air support there's such a thing as brief let ups on combat when you're fighting insurgents. I always had time to maintain my weapon so I'm not quite sure what u mean by "constantly under attack" you're making it sound like your weapon is going to fall apart within a couple of hours which is bullshit. Go back to watching war flicks dude. making weapons sparkly shiny? Wtf are u talking about?

@adadqgg No actually russians compare everything to their ak's. There's more to an army than just their small arms. Don't get me wrong the ak platform is a good weapon system but that's about all that's good as far as russian hardware. Their tanks are junk and blow up easily due to their munitions storage, aircraft...while good, not the best. "Cheap and rugged" can only get u so far.

All tanks blow up easily to what they cannot defend well against.
If you just compare the stats, Russian tank's (newest) reactive armour is still better.
People on internet can argue with statistics and limited knowledge of what is really going on on the other side all day... in the end it would not solve a thing.
There is no need to only compare AK, Russians have 007-style folding anti-tank weapon...etc.

Lol pleeze that technology has been out for decades nothing excitingly new in russian armor. 007-style...okaaaay lol
