You can not use Skype on Wifi with Skype mobile. So they can get you to use up your data plan. They disabled the ability to use it on Wifi.Oddly though on my Galaxy tab it's the opposite. I can only use Skype on Wifi and not while using mobile data. Go figure

Question, even tho you have Skype on your cell phone and you are making a call from USA to China, you still have to pay using Skype? I thought if you sign up for internet for your cell phone and the call should be free just like using home Skype. DON'T BE FOOLED!! The Skype to Skype call ARE NOT FREE! The call still goes over the 3G network and uses your data plan credits, so don't think you could call someone and leave the phone off hook all night without getting billed for over data usage. @macojeda The Verizon version of Skype won't use the Wifi channel. If pull the SIM card from your phone and you are in a WIFI hotspot the call won't connect as the software tries to connect only via the CDMA channel. Only the iPhone version of Skype works via WIFI, but it doesn't work on CDMA or 3G so if you are not in a hotspot it can't connect either. This is all because of corporate greed.

@williamlai31518 This is overhyped! Actually, I have this and now Skype is almost useless to me. Things they don't say... A skype to skype call uses your cell carrier (probably why it is exclusive to VZ), not data... just like a real call, I can't use data at the same time. I can't use my $36 a year skypout anymore, I am forced to use cell min for a skype to phone call. I also can't get it to work over wifi in buildings where my cell coverage is nill. This is where Skype really performed for me.

@aryaxt depends on what you want in a phone. sure iphone has lots of consumer-friendly ness, not to mention it's unarguably the best media device out there, and has the most apps; but you guys have to pay for lots of your apps, you have to use itunes to sync to your phone, and it's a closed source platform. Personally, I don't own a phone at all, and in my un-bias opinion, they're both great, just each have their ups and downs.
