Folks, it's not GG by any stretch of the imagination, but as one poster put it, it's as close as we expect to get. Ever wondered why there are Genesis tribute bands, and Pink Floyd tribute bands and even Led Zeppelin tribute bands, but no Gentle Giant tribute bands? It's because it takes some unbelievable musicianship, the likes of which this century has rarely seen, to pull it off. Those guys live were beyond description.
I saw GG 25+ times back in the 70's and I JUST TODAY heard of Three Friends. Gary and Kerry were two of my favorites, I see they aren't booked int the US until 2010 at a festival in Bethlehem, PA. I hope they play around NY,
BTW, Gary USED to play a Les Paul, this is an SG. He is freakin awesome.
They're playing at Shoreham again on 10th September and I have tickets....why isn't Ray involved in any of this? Still no one who can make a Les Paul sound the way Gary does, BRING IT ON!
Gary Green was always a bit of a guitar genius in my book.....very underrated and unsung. I certainly hope this error will be corrected this time around!
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!!! I've got chills! Is it really possible I'll get to see them again after almost 30 years?!? Unbelievable! True, it's a different band without Ray & Derek, but Gary is stretching out a bit more - and Hey - I'm still a Guitar Hero, at heart anyway. Who is second guitarist?
I always hoped against hope that this would happen.
Come on guys.....I missed you live in the seventies, too young! I had a prebooked hol in apr Am I fated never to see my heroes live...ANNOUNCE MORE LIVE GIGS>>>>>>PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
This gig was truly amazing, anyone who's going to the gig in Sweden, you're going to have one hell of a time I can tell you.
And for those for don't know, Three Friends may well be doing gigs in the future and after speaking to Malcolm after the show, he revealed that Kerry is writing new material, so this leaves the possibility of a new album in the future.

sorry to inform everyone but Kerry Minnear has resigned from this band.
hope2prosper 2 years ago
Can't find any information except that he left 'for personal reasons'. Do you know why?
dharmaseed 2 years ago
No I do not.
hope2prosper 2 years ago
Well I found out why Kery left: Seems the Shulman brothers wern't very happy that there was a cover band doing GG music with no input from them.

I hope you are full of it! Are you kidding me?
FoxtronInk 2 years ago
Not kidding. Check the GG web site.

The only other band that I compare somewhat to is Genesis, the Old Genesis. Just as good in sound and sense of ancient times. The best!!!

King Crimson seems shy of this guys, This guitarrist is better than Robert Fripp just because this one is not an arrogant SOB like Fripp
FoxtronInk 2 years ago
Well, I like Gary's playing very much (his strong vibrato is the best), but Fripp is a much better musician all together.

@Zeld1122 fripp is also the most boring musician on the planet !!
