So what?!? - What's stoping Apple from making an iPad type of computer but adding a few USB ports, firewire, an audio input jack, and installing a full operating system?
@1zacster you obviously dong know much about computers, Steve jobs could make the macs 1,000,000$ and people would still buy them, why?, because they solve all the obvious problems that Microsoft could never seem to notice. (By the way, the touchscreen notebook things are incredibly cheap, and not worth $5, Steve jobs thinks)
I agree with him. Touching a surface that is straight ahead of you would be a nightmare after a while. Touching something where your hands should be makes it better.
The Mac trackpad is one of the most amazing pieces of technology out there. I CANNOT STAND any other trackpad besides the Mac trackpad; they are all just terrible. Seriously, once you use it for like 5 minutes your hooked and have a hard time going back to a PC version...Now with all the new gestures with Lion, navigating your computers is like an elegant dance with your fingertips. Thank god for Steve and what he did for the industry R.I.P.
Dude he is full of shit apple just wants to keep their devices cheap. Windows laptops have this amazing thing called TABLET COMPUTERS where the TOUCH SCREEN folds down
as what Jobs said, they had perfected multi-touch trackpads bec. that's the best way they found to get multi-touch into a notebook. they also put it into a mouse "magic mouse"...and you dont want to have your arms be tired on just touching the screen coz it is vertical.
what's wrong with wanting a PC / laptop that has a touchscreen capability a la the MacBook pro. I just want to drag my little icons around instead of that mouse click, drag and drop nonsense
Jobs was wrong. Touchscreen is the way forward and obviously does work as he's proved with the iPad. I want a a computer screen I can touch when I choose to, for drawing, moving, zooming, etc. Keep the mouse if you like but let's have touchscreen.
Steve Jobs is missing the point with touch screen computers. Forget the keyboard. The consumer wants a tablet. They want a tablet that has the the capabilities of a laptop (storage, power, optical drive, etc.) and especially with a full computer operating system, not a mobile os.
i use the word 'computer' to describe something that can compile its own native programs, so i'll agree with the sentiment in that statement.. however for what most people use 'computers' for they are (as are phones) and I remember someone explaining these are all 'computer systems', the 'computer' is the cpu only :)

@JohnsonsTech i definitely don't want a fully touchscreen computer. if i wanted that, i'd get a tablet. but i need a physical keyboard.
KaSeyXcaKeS 6 months ago
@JohnsonsTech He is talking specifically for desktops and laptops, which are completely separate from a tablet.

@bobbysaysyo It's okay for tablets to be crappy computers because they have a different name?

@worldofdraculas Tablets are not computers.
